Acosta's Aquariums has been a long-standing small business in the community…read more I'm an 80s baby & remember coming here often all the way through high school to pick out new friends for my aquariums. I always had a stronger nexus with non-human beings after visiting here even though I never wanted hardly any of them as pets. I brought my young daughters with me on August 23, 2023. This place hasn't really changed one bit. Their fish are mostly healthy looking at affordable prices. They sell freshwater and saltwater fish and other creatures. They still have a room dedicated to birds - namely parakeets, cockatiels, and finches. Another separate room for reptiles, arthropods & arachnid species also still exists. At the front entrance their "furball" critters take precedence... rabbits, hamsters, ferrets, and hedgehogs. I loved their baby tortoises - so darn cute! They seem to sell out quickly of axolotls and ferrets and a few other more rare animals. All of the supplies you would need are sold here too. I know several folks who come here for mice for their snakes and crickets for their frogs and bearded dragons. The owners are super friendly & ready to assist you. I'm hoping my daughters will continue to do well in school and such so they may earn the privilege of taking one of these critters home one day... The only thing I would change about this place is the outside is quite demure and boring. It doesn't match what's on the inside at all or the personalities of the owners. Please support this one of its kind business in Hobbs, NM.

I parked here by accident. Visiting for the week from out of town. First time ever in Lubbock…read more There is a towing sign on the wall of the building but one would assume it applies to the length of the buildings (Brûlée Bakery is next door which is where I was for a couple of hours). I did not even see this sign when I parked but noted it afterwards. What I did see is a sign made for the shop in front of the parking space directly next to mine that is for time limited parking. If you are looking to make sure you aren't in the wrong spot that flags your attention and you think you're fine. If you happen to notice the sign on the wall you still think you're ok because you are patronizing that shopping center. When I was getting ready to leave the bakery I was on my phone sitting in my car in order to finish my conversation before I started driving. A nice lady stopped at my car and signaled for me to roll down my window. She said "just so you know, they normally tow people." As if I was lucky my car was still there. I sweetly smiled and said I was from out of town and wouldn't be back. By this I mean I will never darken their doors. I was going to go in once my call was done just to see what they had before I left. My mom's dog is spoiled rotten by the whole family and I might have spent too much money there. It has happened once or twice as he is the sweetest Malshi ever created. Now? No. If this is truly only their parking, I am sure the owner gets tired of people parking there. But I am a complete stranger to your city, and I do not feel welcome by your establishment at all now. Not to Lubbock and not to your pet store. It felt elitist and hair trigger punitive for a simple misunderstanding. I know I'm not the only person to interpret the signage this way, even for people who live here. What I learned quickly about parking in Lubbock is that there are many places you have to hunt for it. As long as I saw I was ok to park in the lot or shopping center of my destination I had to park and walk quite a bit. How about you as an owner get better signage? And what a way to welcome someone to your town - can you imagine if I were towed and had to go through the expensive and complicated process of figuring all that out? I looked at the city this week in context of if this is a place I would live, and if so what places what I frequent. I can tell you 100% this is not one of them. I believe in kindness and giving someone the benefit of the doubt. They obviously do not reciprocate this ideal if they "typically tow people". This is only the second negative review I have left on Yelp to my recollection. Obviously they do something right because they get good reviews from patrons. It may be unfair because I didn't go in, but so is towing people because you can't get your signage to make sense. Would give zero stars for their attitude but I did enjoy the parking.

My dog was a bit shy, even skittish when she first arrived, but after sampling some delicious treats she was quickly comfortable and happy! We purchased a bag of homemade dog treats that are all natural, organic, non-GMO, and almond beef liver flavored. They do a Paw Power happy hour on Thursdays and Fridays from 4-6 pm with treats for pets and humans and have a rewards program. Today we received 10% off our purchase when we joined and we can't wait to go back!

I saw a man laying down flat, he appeared dead or injured. I went over to see if he needed help. He jumped up and yelled out to me. I couldn't hear him so he drove over to me. The white pickup truck had a water tank in back with a hose. He had a cage in the front seat. I thought he was poisoning them. He stated that he was flushing them out to catch the babies. I told him that the babies need their mother. He said "not anymore" He said that he sells them to Walter's world of Pets.I told him Walter's was the worse. I told him that this was illegal and asked for his name but he refused to give it. I went back to get my cell phone to get pictures but he took off before I could get back. I called animal services, texas parks and wildlife rangers, as well as the police to make a report. I also called Walter's and asked where they buy their prairie dogs and the guy on the phone answered trappers. When I went on my speel, a lady grabbed the phone out of his hand and stated "we buy them from a mating facility" the first store clerk had already told me the truth. So if you own a prairie dog, think about how it was stolen from it's mother right out of nature. Walter's is a horrible place. Wildlife deserves to be free.

We're not regular TS Shoppers, maybe had been in one one time over the years before we stepped…read moreinside this one on 82nd street. We're just not the customer base TS is designed for. But, TS does sell some industrial equipment also, and that is why we visited this TS. We were in a desperate last minute need for a Pallet Jack for a truckload of 26 Pallets that not only arrived early, but also arrived without the Pallet Jack on the truck as BOL stated was needed for delivery. We had the Forklift to unload the truck in the parking lot, just no Pallet Jack to move Pallets in the truck for removal. We called around and Lubbock had a huge shortage of Pallet Jacks. The industrial suppliers just didn't have them in stock at that time. No used ones on CL, MP, so on. Didn't really know anyone to borrow one from. Plus, this was late on a Friday, so even the other warehouse around us were already shutting down. Someone mentioned try Tractor Supply, so we called this one, and Yes, they had one in stock. This was 3 Stop Lights away, 1.2 miles, and we thought we had hit the Jackpot. Arrived, walked in, sure enough there was probably THE ONE AND ONLY Pallet Jack for sale in Lubbock at that time that late on a Friday evening sitting there on the floor in the store. Brand New, never used, we were going to pay whatever they were asking. ($300 something) Went and found an Employee, walked them over to the Pallet Jack, and said we'd like to BUY this. They wouldn't sell it to us. Clerk was actually an ignorant fool over it. We kept asking why. Clerk tried to tell us TS does not sell Floor Models. We were like what do you mean you do not sell Floor Models? It's sitting here. It has a Price Tag on it. You have the manuals taped to the handle. It looks for sale to us. Clerk said Floor Models are only for Display and Demonstration only. We said, OK, go get one out of the back. They didn't have any in the back. Closest one still in the box was 2 hours away down in Midland/Odessa. That was absurd. So we asked that Clerk to get a Manager. Some Lady "Manager", supposed Manager, then came to help us. We asked same thing, WHY can you not sell us this BRAND NEW Pallet Jack sitting here. She then tried to explain again that Floor Models are for Display and Demonstrations only. We told her Pallet Jacks are not something that Pallet Jack Buyers need demonstrated on how to use. WE KNOW how to use them. Then I asked, If you sit here and DEMONSTRATE it for me, can I buy it then? She again said No. I then asked then what's the use of DEMONSTRATING IT IF I CAN'T BUY IT??? If you don't have any in the back room to sell, what's the use of having a Pallet Jack out here for demonstrating purposes IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY IN STOCK TO SELL?? SELL this one, then when your new batch of Pallet Jacks comes in, put another one out here for demonstration purposes to sell the ones out of the backroom. Good Gawd, it was Retail 101. She still would not Sell us that one on the Floor. One of the stupidest retail of industrial equipment experiences I have ever experienced. We got the Pallets off the Truck late that night going old school using chains and straps dragging the pallets to the end of the truck to grab them with the forklift. 1 hour job turned into 3-3 1/2 hour job. $300 could have easily fixed that. We will probably never step foot into another Tractor Supply again due to that IGNORANCE alone we had to deal with that day. My Opinion, Tractor Supply is the TEMU, The Alibaba for the Products they sell. It's the Dollar General for Farm Supplies. It's McDonald's compared to Outback Steak House. 7/11 Compared to Walmart. And the Employees they hire, along with what little of intelligence it takes to become a "Manager" reflects just that.
