Any professional will be able to do this in your presence. He was gone for ages. During that time my mom browsed and found about a half-dozen pieces that she was interested in purchasing. When he finally returned to the front of the store he said that the face of the watch fell off by accident and he lost the tiny second hand. She asked if she could go in the back room and look for it. He said no, the area was such a mess, she would never find it. He offered to have his usual out-of-town watch repair person fix it. She shipped the watch to his preferred shop. The repair cost $25, the shipping to and from with insurance was $20. He refused to pay any of it. This is beyond unconscionable. I have never met any business person who broke something and didn't take responsibility for it. He boasts that he sells Rolexes. He flaunts ruby rings on his Facebook page. But he's too cheap and to pay $45 for his own blundering. My mom is a hard working person. Totally unjust treatment -- of a senior citizen at that. I took it back to Thornton's Jewelry Store and was greeted by the manager of the store. She was very nasty and asked did my daughter wear it everyday. It said yes, and I wear my rings everyday too. The ring originally had three peridot stones, and now the biggest and center stone is missing, plus the ring is 14 carat. I asked her the cost to put the stone back in and she told me from $125 to $150. After dealing with her nasty attitude, I decided to not have it repaired there.
