A solid Chinese restaurant in Sacramento. My family and I came here on a busy Saturday evening. I haven't been here in so many years. We ordered 11 dishes. As they were so busy, food took a while to come out. While we waited, they did offer complimentary Hong Kong lemon iced tea or mango juice. Fish maw soup was really salty. Sea bass pot was salty as well. Everything we ordered was good overall. Portions were decent. Service was average. Parking can be limited. Parking lot is shared with other businesses in the plaza. A solid hole-in-the-wall spot in the Franklin area with a lot of potential. That said, several dishes felt under-seasoned, which was surprising for a Chinese restaurant. The BBQ pork was particularly disappointing--it lacked both crispiness and flavor. Overall, most of the dishes leaned toward the middle in terms of taste. This was one of the best canton food in sac or at least it used to be! I'm not sure if this was just an off day, but the fish maw soup lacked so much flavor. The cod & eggplant clay pot was just overly sweet. The dry house chow fun had pieces of pork that tasted like it was going bad and the color and "wok hey" flavor was not there. My once fav steak and mushroom stir fry missed the mark, the meat was chewy instead of tender. I hope they didn't change their head chef or hopefully the chef was just having an off day, because I can taste that the food was rushed, quality was down and made with no love. I especially love their salt and pepper, fish, clay pot, rice, dish, walnut shrimp, and their ribeye dish that has tons of different types of delicious mushrooms. Celebrating Chinese New Years with the family at T Kee Seafood Restaurant. The restaurant serves authentic Chinese foods great for family style dining as well as smaller parties. The dinging area is split in two where the bigger side has approximately 8 large tables for 10. Though I did not have the opportunity to take photos of the meal, dinner was delicious. Served family size for 21 of us (2 tables), we had Peking spareribs, Peking duck, New York steak strips with mushrooms and green beans, walnut shrimp, and large fried fish, chow mein, scallop fried rice, greens, and sweet and sour pork. Great service and great food. We went on a Tuesday and to my surprise it was quite busy at 6:30pm! It took a bit of time for the food to come but we were served tea and mango juice which were free of charge. When I went first time, I was surprised with their complementary mango smoothie. The food is great and the setting is good for big groups or hosting guests. I don't need to wait too long for food and service is great. The parking is harder on the Friday/weekends but it is not impossible. Salty Spicy Chicken Wings (5): Lightly crispy. Awesome rub. Moist and tasty chicken. Salt & Pepper Pork Chops (5): Again, the rub is amazing. I felt like this was the same as the salty spicy wings. No complaints since its an awesome combo of spices. Deep Fried Chicken Wings (3): Not bad. Nice crispy wings. After trying the salty spicy wings though, this lacked flavor. Do not eat here!! I went to the restroom and I saw a server go into the kitchen and got a glimpse of one of the waiters SMOKING A CIGARET IN the kitchen area when they were preparing the food!! I went to the restroom and then noticed right outside by the restroom door a cart with two full containers of bockchoi right there sitting near the restroom!! Ewwww how nasty is that!! I didn't tell my wife because she would have made us leave!! I stopped by recently to get my sick kiddo some porridge (I kind of went off-menu and requested more chicken and ginger), they were super sweet about it too! Went here for the first time. Food is good. Really enjoyed the Clay Pot Rice. The Peking duck was alright, I really didn't like the steamed buns that they served with the duck - they were too big and bready. Service was a bit spotty, but nothing that I wouldn't expect from a Chinese restaurant. One of our party had the clams with bean thread. It was tasty. Hong Kong style chow mein was good. Parking here was horrible - maybe Saturday night at 5:30pm was not the best idea? It was a pretty small parking lot for how busy the restaurant was. The restaurant decor and seating was nothing to write home about, but again a Chinese restaurant, not going for ambience but for good food :-). I'd come here again, but next time I'd skip the duck. Ordered pickup of the cod filet clay pot and it was good! Portion was big and came with not just cod, but also pork belly, tofu, and mushroom. This will last me a few meals at least and with tax it was around ~$18 total. It is not overly salty so when eating at home with rice I did add soy sauce. Inside was spacious but busy when I came. Wor wonton soup, chicken fried rice, and sauteed chicken with mushrooms. "15-20 minutes." I walked in and the lady up front was on the phone, but then another staff came out with a smile and asked, "pick up?" Food was bagged up and ready. I paid for my food with the lady up front and she was very friendly and polite. I love that they both had smiles while helping me. Food was piping hot. Best wor wonton soup I've had! It was full of seafood, chi sui pork, chicken, and plump wontons. The sauteed chicken and mushrooms wasn't just mushrooms but a lot of string beans too. It was bomb! Full of flavor. Perfectly cooked veggies and big chunks of chicken. The fried rice was a little bland and I didn't appreciate the wilted shredded lettuce that was mixed in. Definitely not a favorite dish. Portions were great though. That order lasted another 2-3 meals! T Kee is in the running for my go-to Chinese spot in the area. We seldom go for Chinese food because we could make it at home, but then today my son wanted fried rice while we were out so we just picked one nearby. I gave it a five star because of the good service. We got complimentary drinks as we came in, which was a nice surprise. This restaurant may have gone through different ownership in the last 5+ years. I am not sure when this happened but there are definitely some positive changes. First of all, they have a complimentary mango/orange juice in an ice blend which is pretty delicious! I don't recall this drink last time I've been here, so I am guessing it's been awhile. When I arrived on weekend for dinner around 5pm, there were plenty of seating. Surprisingly, it became very busy as it approached 6PM. The tables filled up. The service is mediocre at best. We had to ask several times for white rice until it finally came out. Our other dishes came out but still no rice. We enjoyed the deep fried flounder. It is pretty good. The house special house fun was okay, could've been better though. I like the clay pot dishes, they were pretty good. Parking lot can be small and tight. If you dine in for dinner, they give you hot tea and orange juice! It's my favorite part of the meal! This is my first time dine in here. It is famous for the yellow eel over rice in Casserole. We ordered a small one and it's enough for four people. And it was great! It has enough flavor and meat! The fact that this place has existed here for so many years without me even knowing about it should be considered a minor miracle as they are well known for serving large family-style portions of food. With no fewer than four different multi-course large party menus to choose from, our relatives knew that T Kee Seafood Restaurant was just the place for us to dine and enjoy two tables worth of food, as we had a lot of people in our party this evening. The regular menu at T Kee Seafood Restaurant has sections including Soup, House Curry in a Clay Pot, House Specialities, Appetizers, House Special BBQ Dishes, Seafood, Chicken, Pork, Hot Iron Plate, Clay Pots, Beef, Fresh Veggies and Tofu, Hong Kong Pan Fried Noodles, Chinese Style Fried Rice/ Rice Plates, Porridge/ Congee, and Special Rice in Casserole. Of course, we came for the pre-fix menus for large parties and T Kee Seafood Restaurants four large party menus had enough small alterations that made us seriously consider any one of them for our two tables of ten people. We decided to order their Menu D which was sold at $488 for ten people per table. This menu contained their Chef's Choice Assorted BBQ Platter, Stir Fry Coral Clams Scallops w/ Veggie, Honey Walnut Prawns, Chef's Choice Four delights Soup, House Hand Shredded Chicken, House Roasted Duck, Whole Abalone with Veggies, Sautéed Twin Lobsters w/ Supreme Broth, Steamed Live Fish, Ham and Dried Scallops Fried Rice, and Special Desserts. Our meal would be served over the course of an hour and a half, and among the highlights were their first plate Chef's Choice Assorted BBQ Platter, which featured so much food that it easily could have been a dish that served a smaller table all on its own with the roasted pork, empress chicken, squid, and barbecue pork. Another highlight was their House Hand Shredded Chicken, which thanks to the abundance of Chinese parsley and sesame seeds along with the vinaigrette dressing made for the most unexpected dish that I have enjoyed in some time. Both the fish and lobster dishes were serviceable dishes as some of the best seafood, especially fish can come from the delta and riverways of California's Central Valley, and expectations are high. Our total bill was $887.40, which was before gratuity was added in, and this covered the cost of two tables of about twenty people, which is actually on the more reasonable side considering how much the cost of dining out is currently. This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants to go with family. I really love the Ambiance inside they have a big seating area where you can have a table of 10 or more. They even have small tables as well. They also give you mango juice or Hong Kong iced tea on the house when you dine in which is a really nice touch. Some of my favorite dishes here is their special chow mein with seafood. The noodles is very fresh egg noodles and they put a lot of vegetables and seafood and different Meats as well. Also we love their shredded chicken salad which comes with lettuce and cilantro and has it really nice fresh flavor. We also like ordering their sweet and sour spirits. The pork spirit is soft and tender and has a really nice Tangy sauce. Also we love ordering their pork knuckle which is a really big bone and has some meat and they even cut up the meat and each meat piece has a crispy pig skin on top. Also we love ordering their fried rice which is very comforting and also very flavorful and we like ordering the salt fish with chicken fried rice. They also have amazing Clay Pot rice with different toppings like black bean sauce spirits and then also dry duck and Chinese sausage in The Clay Pot rice. Overall they provide really good service and always pay attention to detail and making sure our tea and water is always not empty. Also the parking outside is quite big so there is lots of parking but sometimes it gets full and we need to park across the street. Eventually the house fried rice arrived. While the general chicken and salt and pepper shrimp were tasty, the rice was just...bland. If you order house fried rice at a Chinese restaurant, you would expect it to be seasoned. The long wait for rice, and the lack of flavor of said rice, is enough to bring down the overall experience of a Chinese restaurant meal. I visited T Kee with my family on a weekday for dinner and was pleasantly surprised to find that the restaurant was so busy. It was my first visit here and I was excited to try out a bunch of different items. The service was friendly and speedy. The restaurant offers complimentary juice for the table and it's a nice perk to enjoy while waiting for the food. The items we ordered came out steadily and they all had that great "wok hay" wok flavor. My favorite dish was definitely the chow mein but I really enjoyed everything we had. The interior is nicely decorated and spacious. Even with lots of other groups and conversations being held, I didn't find myself straining to hear or yelling to communicate, so that was a plus! I'm Chinese. Cantonese. Just moved here from the bay area. The experience is not good. Spoke to the manager in Cantonese. Ordered 3 dishes. Mongolian Beef, Peking Spare Ribs, Chicken Chow Mein. Simple. They cut corners. The pork chops for the Peking Spare Ribs were not good. They mixed in OLD meat with some good meat. You can taste the difference. Old meat has an old smell. The chow mein was TOO oily and chicken tasted bland. Mongolian Beef has too much filer and not enough beef and way too greasy. I asked about Dried Pan Fried Beef Chow Fun with black bean sauce. They told me that they can do it but only if they can spare more time. Drier chow fun requires more time (5-7 minutes) as opposed to wetter version. This is being detailed about good and classic food. I'm older and younger folks do not understand or care about quality. Final: Never go again. Your feedback please. read more
