Food was really good here, you only get fried rice or chow Maine, so me and my wife got each and split it in half and it was really good, I got Mongolian beef, and it's was amazing and she got general chicken and it was good, loved the big giant egg rolls, I only know one Chinese food place that had big eggs rolls so it brought me back to my kid days I use to love that, we found a new spot

I was around the area and wanted some food. So glad I stopped by! It was super slow on a Monday evening and was greeted warmly at the door. Inside is super spacious but they only do take out. I ordered the honey shrimp and it was sooo good! takes me less than 10 minutes to get home and the shrimp was still super crispy. It has a nice balance of sweet and savory. Would definitely come back to try other things.

Adequate ~hood~ Chinese food portion?? Check. :p [fried salt & pepper fish]

Don't let the angry drivers of Mack Rd. deter you from visiting this spot (no really, on the same day I heard car honking at the nearby busy McDonald's drive thru and I saw a truck turn against its red designated left turn traffic light). --------------- - Fried salt & pepper fish: I can see why it has a cult following; it's like mini fish and chips lol but without the chips. Fairly crispy. Wished the chef was more aggressive with the salt and pepper though. Tender fish meat but some of the pieces have a slight metallic taste (fish isn't the best quality but I shouldn't be expecting too much lol). - Orange chicken: tasty! Deep fried to oblivion but in a good way so that the sauce can adhere to all of the nooks and crannies of the crust of each chicken piece. No skimping on the sauce sweetness but the sweetness isn't overbearing either. - Chow mein: very bouncy noodles but surprisingly quite bland. Usually I don't reach for the soy sauce packets when eating Chinese takeout but this would be one of the rare occasions where I would use them. --------------- Generous portions!! You know it's legit ~hood~ Chinese food when rubber bands come into play for the styrofoam containers. :p Overall solid 4 stars for the food but the lady at the counter was super sweet and humble, making me bump the rating up to 5. **Labeled as a restaurant but currently has only takeout service (dining tables removed).

TL;DR: Great portion sizes, solid flavor, and budget-friendly Chinese takeout. Order ahead to avoid waiting. ----------- I came here because the reviews were solid and the prices looked affordable. What I didn't realize was that it's strictly a takeout spot. We walked in and ordered at the counter, and while there's no dine-in option, there is seating for people waiting. The walls are covered with photos of the food, which made it easy to figure out what to get. I went with the sesame chicken lunch combo. It took about 15 to 20 minutes for the food to be ready. From what I could tell, most people call in their orders, so I'd definitely recommend doing that to save time. When I got the food, I was surprised the takeout container wouldn't even close all the way because it was packed so full. They really don't hold back on the portions. The flavor was also solid and a big step up from places like Panda Express. I'd come back again to try more from the menu. It's a good, no-frills option if you're craving classic Chinese takeout.

Enjoyable Chinese food! I liked the sweet and sour pork and the chicken chow mein. But the chicken in the chow mein tasted a bit off.

Take out only, looks like this small restaurant used to be sit down but may have converted to takeout only during Covid. This place's phone was ringing off the hook. Which made me more confident in all the rave I've been hearing about this place. All prices reflect a 4% cash discount so card will be a little bit more depending on how much you're ordering. The main thing this place offers is large portion size with great selection. Peking spare ribs- could be a be a bit more meaty but still delicious would recommend Salt and pepper Fish-great texture so wish the salt and pepper flavor came through more. Actual fish pieces inside the was not as large so mainly getting batter(which is crispy and delicious) Salt and pepper pork- pork could be a little more meaty and salt and Pepper flavor could be stronger. General chicken better than Panda Express, plenty of flavor and sauces Honey walnut shrimp. -all shell including tail removed which made it extra enjoyable to pop the whole shrimp in my mouth. Flavor was good just wish they had more walnut. In all quantities and quality are worth the price. Wait time was fast considering this place is always busy . Would recommend is you're looking for quick fix of some delicious Chinese food

    Take-out only.

Thanks to my fellow Yelp Elites for posting a picture of the salt and pepper fried fish. I couldn't get it off my mind for a week. Since I didn't feel like cooking today, I stop at Sunrise Chinese Restaurant to get my fix! It's a take out only restaurant with chairs to sit while you wait for your order. There were a few people in front of me, and it took about 15-20 minutes. I noticed several people came in to pick-up their phone orders. I'll keep that in mind the next time if I'm in a rush. Salt and Pepper Fried Fish A tad bit more dough than I like but very good. It wasn't overly salty, super crispy and holy - the portion is huge for $16.95. They also do S&P fried chicken and shrimp. House Chow Mein Chow Mein with cabbage, beef, chicken and shrimp. Nothing worth raving about but good. General Tso's Chicken It's similar to orange chicken without the tangy/citrus flavor. Again, big portion and savory sauce. I ate it with Trader Joe's frozen brown rice and it hit the spot! It reminded me the days I used to work at an office in Brooklyn. We used to order Chinese food every Friday as a group and I always get General Tso's Chicken lunch special. Solid Chinese food take-out spot. Bring cash if you can, because they charge a small fee for credit card.

Salt and pepper shrimp. Over fried.

The location was a bit odd, as there were barely any other businesses nearby. There is street parking that you can pay for. It's a fairly small restaurant. We were were seated pretty quickly. Service was very friendly. I would say that portions were pretty reasonable. Things we ordered: -Pineapple fried rice: Very fragrant with the char and flavorful. Seasoned very well. We opted for mild spice on this. I would order this again. -Chicken pad thai: Done very well! Some places the pad thai is too sweet, but this one was very balanced and had a good tamarind flavor. Medium spicy was a bit on the spicy side, but perfect for me! Would order this again. -Duck larb: Unique, but I couldn't tell it was duck. My partner enjoyed this more than I did. The portion for the larb was on the smaller side and it came with some lettuce, radish, carrots, cucumbers. -Mee kati ground pork: A very unique dish that not many Thai restaurants seem to have, in which it came with noodles, and a variety of toppings like beans sprouts, lettuce, green beans, peanuts, and cilantro. It came with a fermented curry gravy, and it delicious! I would totally order this again. -Green Thai tea: Quite fragrant and not too full on half and half like some other places have it. It's also not as sweet as another local Thai restaurant. I would actually order this again. -Classic Thai tea: Strong Thai tea flavor, also not too sweet. Overall, Hiso was a great Thai/Lao restaurant and I would totally come back and recommend this place!

The red curry was really good imo but my husband said it could have been thicker and more flavorful. The pad thai was decently spicy for a medium rating. Very good flavor and I would say one of the better pad thais you can get in Sacramento. Not overly saucy like in some places. We also ordered the Tum Luang Pra Bang, green papaya salad with fermented fish sauce. I will say, the execution and the quality of ingredients were superb, I personally couldn't get past the flavor, but my mom, a stronger SEA woman, loved it! The staff was very nice and polite. The ambiance was very cute, gave cafe/small restaurant vibes. I have been in the area for awhile and this place has been a revolving door of restaurants. I hope this one sticks!

I also always take friends and family visiting here and it never disappoints. The yelp wait is pretty accurate, so I recommend joining before you head over to avoid having to wait there. Last time I went and checked, it was about an hour wait so I joined it and did some grocery shopping nearby before going there. I've had everything on the menu so it's up to the point where it depends on what I'm feeling. Everything on the menu is different so it's not too hard to choose. If I want something soupy, I'll go for the crab udon, if I want rice, the fried rice, something full of flavor, the Banh Mi Chao, something light, then the Banh Khot (good option since they don't make Banh Xeo on the weekends). The last time I went 07/04/2026, I noticed on the wall they were having a special, Bun Bo Hue, which I love when I go to pho restaurants. I'm not sure if it's new or I've been blind this whole time, but it did not disappoint. It was full of flavor, and it was nice that they put the spicy paste on the side for you to adjust the spiciness. I love spicy foods but one of my friends do not, so it was easy for us to enjoy our meal. It was also not just a spicy sauce to add; there was a past along with it. Shrimp paste maybe? I didn't ask, but it enhanced the flavor, so I recommend using it. Their sister restaurant, Me's Kitchen is next on my list to try. Can't wait!

An order of bánh khọt came with 7 pancakes and a side of veggies and fish sauce. The pancakes were really crispy, and they were delicious, especially wrapped with the veggies. I just wished they gave more lettuce or at least allowed refills. More veggies was an extra charge. The xôi thập cẩm and bánh mì chảo were also good. The cà phê dừa was blended so it was more smoothie-like. The sweet coconut balanced out the strong coffee. Overall, we had a great and filling lunch. The restaurant was modern, polished, and inviting.

We did our best "research project" and ordered everything our table could justify: Thai iced coffee, coconut canopy salad, pad see ew and pad Thai with pork belly, sunset curry with tilapia, and mango sticky rice with ice cream. For science, obviously. Thai Time should put a warning label on their Thai iced coffee. One sip through each layer and the conversation stopped. We woke up. The taste buds clocked in for work. The brain sent out the announcement: "Cancel all distractions -- apparently dinner has plans for us." Good thing we listened. Thammasorn then proceeded to take us on a full Thai flavor adventure. This wasn't just dinner. This was a carefully organized attack on our ability to say, "No thanks, I'm full." The coconut canopy salad started fresh and bright, the noodles brought the comfort, the pork belly brought the celebration, the sunset curry with tilapia brought the "wait, everyone try this" moment. And the mango sticky rice with ice cream showed up at the end like a victory parade. I always read the bad reviews because I'm fascinated by the rare human ability to find sadness while surrounded by curry, noodles, and people being nice to you. They are to be safely ignored. Our experience? Five stars out of 10. Beautiful flavors, warm service, and that special energy you only get when the people behind a place actually care. Thank you, Thammasorn and Thai Time. Sacramento is lucky to have you.
