Everything well-seasoned and delicious! Still on the pricy side but worth the food. One bathroom in the back, two highchairs available but we used the bench seating. Good service although mainly Chinese speaking owner/server.

Finally got around to trying this place out for a later lunch and every table was full, so we sat outside. Some tables opened up later and they let us move inside! The claypots are pretty good, a little too much rice to protein ratio. Surprisingly I liked the fish clay pot a lot more than the ribs. It was much more tender. But the flavor for both were perfect. The skewers here were also delicous!! Definitely worth a try. Overall a good lunch spot. Especially when you're craving that crispy rice layer from the clay pot!

We dropped in Friday around 6pm. We had a group of 9. Pretty good Chinese bbq. We ordered a bunch of bbq to share. The squid had a sweet sauce, so next time I would ask for same seasoning as the other skewers. Beef skewer wasn't as tender. The best things were the grilled oysters, chicken skin, gizzard, gristle, shrimp, lamb, small fish, clay pots. It was a very hot day, but they only had one ceiling fan on. They said they couldn't turn on the fan because it doesn't work. So we were sweating. Parking lot shared with other people.

The place is pretty small, so get there early if you don't want to wait. It didn't get crowded for Sunday dinner. The food was tasty and the spicy eggplant have quite the kick. My favorite was the grilled oysters and squid skewers. The service was quick and you order using a paper menu and tallying what you want.

Be forewarned, seating sucks as the interior is very small & not the best for large groups. We opted to sit outside due to this (not a problem). The waiter came by with some cups of water and a water pitcher. After some time we changed our minds to have our orders to go. The waiter came back and gave our water and cups to the customer sitting in front of us which was very odd. Anyways the food. We ordered three servings of the clay pot meals and three drinks. The total was $60. Each tray came out looking like this. All rice, very minimal protein. The biggest scam ever. The food also lacked flavor. I'm never eating here again.

I came in for an early dinner & this place was well worth it. It's small but with enough seating, and as time went on the restaurant got fairly busy. We ordered the clay pot first since it takes awhile to make. The barbecue skewers came out fast. 10/10 - Chicken skin, pork belly, beef skrewers: these all came out hot & fresh; I got all non-spicy so I dusted each with the spicy seasoning on the table; tip- ask for chili oil which elevates the flavors. 10/10 - Spicy Duck Jaw: these were full of flavors & very tender; the sauce was unique & addictive plus perfectly cooked. 9/10 - Oysters: these were juicy & succulent with so much delicious garlic. 8/10 - Eggplant Barbecue: ordered a couple of these & one was charred perfectly & the other one was pretty burned so couldn't eat all of it; tip-add soy sauce for extra flavor. 7/10 - Ribs with Black Bean Clay Pot: the rice ended to bring pretty dry & a lot of it got stuck at the bottom but couldn't really enjoy the crunchy pieces; flavors overall were lacking & need more sauce, even with the soy sauce, it was just okay.

Hidden gem. Elite tip order the clay pot rice first as that takes time. Ambiance: modern, clean, inviting vibes Nothing crazy or stands out regarding decor but we're here to eat and enjoy the quality of food Service: friendly staff, drinks were refilled Food: 5/5 I was so pleasantly surprised. They have a great selection of bbq and clay pot rices. The bbq shrimp and fish all were well seasoned. Their spicy isn't terrible, just a little kick. Shrimp were tender and not overdone. Fish balls were great. Now the star of the show, clay pot rice. Cooked to perfection with crispy edges, meat was well seasoned, and generous portion - elite tip a large is enough for 2 people to share. I'll be back for sure!!!

Recently, I've been checking out the Freeport Blvd area for authentic Chinese food, and Da Fei Ge is high on my list of new favorite places to dine at. My husband and I just visited last weekend. It is a small establishment, with only 7 tables. We were seated immediately and handed the menu--one to browse, and one to mark our orders on. I had already scoured the various reviews for Da Fei Ge, so we knew what we wanted. We immediately put in our order for a clay pot rice, since it would take about 20 min to cook. We went with the special preserved meat clay pot rice, since we were going to order skewers, and for $9.99 that price was hard to beat. Each skewer order comes with 2 pieces of whatever protein you order, and is so reasonably priced. We were especially excited for the abalone, which came with a mouth-watering garlic chili sauce. We ordered a small variety of skewers, from quail eggs to pork belly to squid. All the skewers were so flavorful and there was extra chili powder if you wanted to add some more. You have the option to mark down if you want it spicy or non-spicy on the ordering sheet. We of course went with the spicy option. The meats were tender and the sauce on the squid was delightful. Da Fei Ge is quiet and cozy, and the majority of patrons are Chinese. The staff speaks Mandarin as well. I also love that you get free cold herbal tea. It's self-serve so you can drink as much as you'd like. It was very refreshing and paired perfectly with our meal. The clay pot rice was delicious! The crispy rice on the bottom was sooo crunchy and there was a good amount of meat. It came with a side of sauce that you pour on right after it's served to your table. You can let it sit or mix right away. We waited for about 15 seconds and then mixed ours. The meat was thinly-sliced, but the ratio of meat to rice was just fine. Honestly, it was the perfect amount of rice to share while having skewers on the side. I noticed a few other tables had ordered the larger size and that would have been too much to finish in one go. Quite honestly, I feel that clay pot rice should be enjoyed at the restaurant and not taken to go. As we enjoyed our meal, I also noticed the staff in the back chopping up various cuts of meat. Presumably this was for the clay pot rice and skewers. I really loved how everything was fresh and made to order here. Nothing beats an authentic experience like this, especially when it's hard to find good clay pot rice and skewers these days. I am super happy I was able to find such a hole-in-the-wall and can't wait to return and try their other offerings soon!

Yummy food at a great price!!! They major in two types of dishes - bbq skewers and clay pot rice, along with some soup, appetizer, dessert and other stuff. The skewers are about $4-8 for an order, which usually comes with two, a good variety of meat (regular cuts as well as a variety of offals) and veggies. Don't miss out on the eggplant, it's heavenly and swoon-worthy. There are about six types of clay pot rice, around $15, with two that are on special for $9.99 for a small - enough for two or three if you are ordering other items, or one with hearty appetite. They make it from scratch - cooking the raw rice and ingredients inside the pot, not just finishing in it, with a nice layer of charred rice as proof. We ordered the salt fish and minced pork, and the fish is not too salty. We ordered the herbal tea but was told that there's a pot there you can fill and refill for free, which is very nice, and making it even more budget-friendly. It's a small place with about 7 tables, so be prepared to wait a bit or share a table.

Oysters is the best. Beef and lamb sticks are yummy too, surprisingly they are bigger portions than before but flavor is good. Eggplant and corn are not bad. Clay pot kind of greasy, hope they put more rice and medium looks smaller than before.

    Terri S.

The size and portions of the skewers are actually big and tender. The flavor is definitely there, but I think it could use a bit more spice to it. The clay pots were delicious, also pretty good portions for both sizes as well. My favorite was the cucumber salad. It was really cheap for a plate of this, the flavor was so good, and the cucumber was crunchy. I also enjoyed their fried tofu too. It was perfectly spicy and crispy. The restaurant is pretty small inside, so it seemed a little cramped. Workers were nice, and even informed us that clay pots take a while to make, so to put that order in first so we won't have to wait a long time.

    Spicy chicken wings- great flavor!

Its rare to find regional chinese places like this in the Sac area. Being from the Bay and from Orange County, I'm a but snobby when it comes to Chinese food, but this place was definitely on par with the best of them! Its a small hole-in-the-wall place with good ambience in a small plaza with other diverse food options. We went on Friday night and had no wait time. We got two claypot rice (order these right when you come in since they take 20 minutes), a variety of skewers and spicy chicken wings. All were amazing quality! The highlight is definitely the rice which had plenty of flavor and was crispy at the bottom. We will definitely come back again to try other flavors and other skewers. We strongly recommend this place, especially if you've never had northern style chinese food or eaten authentic chinese food in general!

This place is absolutely delicious and memorable. The meat was cooked perfectly and everything was flavorful. There was not a single thing we didn't like. My favorite skewer was the chicken skin. The clay pot was also a surprise. It was so simple but very satisfying. The price is great. I've been to other skewer places and they get really pricey. This one is incredibly reasonable. The service was great and seemed to have a lot of regulars. The atmosphere was clean and comfortable. I will be back and will be a restaurant in my regular rotation.

Wow that was incredible!…read more For my dad's birthday and fathers day we ordered bbq tri-tip, ribs and mac and cheese. My brother and his wife found Silverback BBQ through a friend who highly recommended trying this for a party. We wanted something special for the birthday and my dad loves bbq. Ok we all love it but this was all geared for my dad. I bbq and smoke meats sometimes so I have some idea what to expect. I knew the food was going to be great just from word of mouth and some of the pictures on his site so the expectations were high. We paid extra to have the food delivered. Communication and payment was easy. Silverback BBQ (Carl is his name if I recall) and his wife both delivered the food. I was worried it might be cold but the special container he used, some kind of large carrier or crate kept the food very warm. It was steaming when everything was placed on the table. The smell was amazing! He proceeded to cut up the tri-tip into slices. I can't remember if the ribs were already cut or not before or during. He had made everything to our own specifications. We wanted medium well, somewhat spicy with some sweet and that's exactly what we got. The tri-tip had a beautiful cherry smoke ring on it. It was juicy and tender. The ribs were perfect. Again juicy, easy to bite off the bone but it didn't just fall apart, had some pull to it(which is good!). Flavor was great. Let's just say my sister who never eats ribs had a second helping. Price was great for everything that was included. I wasn't expecting Carl to also cut the tri-tip in front of us and serve everything. He took a lot of care to make things very enjoyable and I'm serious about that. Aside from the food I give his service 100% perfect. The whole process was entertaining and fun plus he took pictures with my dad and some of the family. I can't describe his personality with enough credit. He's just a cool dude for lack of a better word. Professional but cool. Looking forward to the next event when we can order more!
