Dear T-Mobile Customer Service Team, I am writing to formally report an experience with ageist discrimination at your Ballard store on 15th St. in Seattle this afternoon. Based on a helpful consultation with Angelica (phone support), I visited the store intending to switch from AT&T to a two-year T-Mobile contract for phone and home internet. While a representative named Dilton was professional, his colleagues, Alejandro and Roberto, openly snickered and laughed at my comments. This disrespectful behavior was blatantly unprofessional and felt like targeted discrimination based on my age and appearance. As a result of this treatment, I have decided to remain with my current provider. With 20 years of customer service experience myself, I intend to share this experience publicly to warn other customers about the atmosphere at this location. we signed up with. t mobile february 2024 our plan we signed up for was 2 free phones & 2 free screen protectors. our first billing cycle our plan was changed by someone at tmobile !! they changed our plan. we dont recive a paper statenent,so my partner assumed due to his disability that the monthly bill was inflated due to misc. fees like taxes and other hidden fees. i recently called t mobile because my phone they sent me was refurbished junk that didnt work ftom the minute i recieved it from the first warranty claim. had we known that we were now being charged $10 per phone each month we would have asked for a difgerent phone! come to find out today tmobile signed on our behalf a 2 year contract february they are forcing us to honor, yet they refuse to provide any proof that we signed for either physically or verbaly the col i consider that fraud! shame on you tmobile for taking advantage of a person on who has a disabilty and extorting 24 months payments on 2 lines totaling $480. when we signed up for a plan that gave us 2 free phones 2 free screen protectors and 4 lines! im going to file a complaint with the fcc if tmobile does not credit our account for $480 the amount weve been over charged for phones that were supposed to be free, and see if they can force tmobile to honor what we was quoted, and force them to provide a copt of the contract they claim we changed pur plan to only 1 month after we signed up for thrvice am hopeful the fcc will look into our bill and see what they can do to demand a copy of the contract that was agreed to by us initially and a copy of the fradulant contract they began charging us for 1 month after we signed up for plan that included 4 lines 2 free phones w screen protectors, and unlimited everything. never did we agree to pay an extra $20 per month for phones that were supposed to be free. im also going to contact the agency that handles americans with disabilities the ada, and file a complaint for taking advantage of my partners disabilities for a couple bucks!! shame on you tmobil ! read more

Holy crap, don't even bother going here. The customer service is trash. I walked in asking what it would be to merge lines with my wife. We're both on our own family's lines, so we wanted to separate and merge ours together. We were told we have to call our separate families, the T-Mobile customer support, and all sit on a collective call together to get them separated. Okay? Never heard of that considering I've had a line separated in the past. Plus, we're standing right in front of you asking for convenience. Why do I have to call customer support--isn't the storefront a way to handle problems in person instead of on the phone? Anyways, I then asked what it would look like price-wise as an example using our current service/phones. I was told what it would be, but I know that the number had zero connection to me or my account or what I pay. So, I'm going to AT&T to see if they can at least TRY and care to do business with me. My phone fully died and I needed a new one, that's the only reason I was here and even that didn't end up feeling like a good enough reason to deal with this location lol. Firstly, when you walk in there is absolutely no system that they seem to have in place. If a bunch of people walk in the sales people don't seem to know who they should help first so it's just a clown show of waiting until someone decides to help you. And all I needed to do was purchase one phone that I already decided on. The actual sales person that ended up helping me was this short lady with brownish hair, I'm pretty sure her name was Emma Lou. Somehow she's taken the concept of "Karen" and figured out how to embody that as a customer service agent. Absolute worst experience ever. She wasn't knowledgeable enough for her role (asked some basic questions about specs she couldn't answer, told me something was available and then magically it wasn't when I decided to get it, etc.) but on top of that she had the most sour and unpleasant demeanor. She is absolutely a future HOA member harassing her neighbors about holiday decor. I really can't explain how rude she was, I feel sorry for anyone that knows her personally. It was unfortunate because the gentlemen helping other customers and the lady that seemed to be the manager at this location were nice and helpful. I was just stuck with someone who is probably most qualified to work from home selling MLM leggings or something. I've been to TMobile locations before with a team that is competent, so I know it's possible. I'll try another location next time, hopefully the city has at least one good location. read more

A salesman at this branch sold us two phones claiming that, after checking on our account, that we were eligible for free phone upgrades. We weren't desperate for phones, but it's sounded nice. Despite indications that stated the extra we'd be paying on our bill, the dude lied to our faces and said that those charges would be reversed in a couple months once the paperwork cleared. Total BS, and two months is past the time when you can make a return. T-Mobile support doesn't care and blames the store. He only gave a shit about making a sale, these guys can fuck themselves. read more

My experience here 3 years ago was so bad that it still occasionally pops into my mind. When I walked in the guy was pretty much bullying an older woman. He was being rude, refusing to help her, and telling her that her problem was her fault. He then treated me the same way. I'd just bought a new iphone at the apple store and needed it activated. I'm on a family plan and he (rudely) insisted that bc I'm not the principal on the account (my dad is and he lives 3,000 miles away) he couldn't activate the phone. It was a phone bought out right, I had the account password, and I had my dad on the phone to give permission. He refused! I immediately drove to another location and they activated it no problem. While the space is upbeat and colorful, the employees are nothing but. They don't acknowledge anyone who walks through the doors, mind their own business and slow to respond, I waited for about five full minutes before I finally walked up to one of them and said I just wanted to claim my T-Mobile Tuesday deal. When we joined, the sales rep said we'd be able to pay off one existing device AND upgrade all lines to iPhone 14. Naturally, after three calls to their customer service team and two visits to this store, we find out that T-Mobile doesn't "stack" promos? The rep here said "I'm really good at what I do, since I've worked here six years. I know more than the customer service reps and they lied to you. Sorry, there's nothing we can do. See? Look at this fine print." Ironic, since I called their customer service team that night and tore them a new one. They not only covered the $300 for the device repayment, they gave me another $300 because I was so livid. Woof. Will not be coming back to this store when I have an issue. I was turned away the first time because they didn't know who to call at corporate, so they said "come back later" and Steven was anything but helpful the second time. Jonathan greeted me and assisted by Kristin they found a cost effective way to get me a working phone and be on my way. In my past working life I was a customer service consultant/trainer and can spot customer service super stars immediately. Jonathan and Kristin exceeded all expectations and an asset to t mobile. In summer of 2022 we decided to make the switch from Verizon to T-Mobile. We were told what paperwork to bring into the T-Mobile office prior to our visit in order to make the transition easier. We brought all the paperwork the rep requested and specific statement from Verizon for the Keep & Switch program. Representative insisted it would be an easy transition. He explained that T-Mobile was a great company that provided excellent customer service and did not increase prices as their competitors did. He switched us over and explained that we should received credit card in mail for the amount we owed on our phones with Verizon (approximately $550). Over 1 month later we received notification from T-Mobile that our application for Keep & Switch was denied. We contacted T-Mobile in September and spent a lot of time on the phone as well as communicating back and forth with the Keep & Switch team (one of which was a manager with RC Solutions named Maureen F) to get them additional paperwork they had requested as they insisted balance statements we gave to rep in Summer of 22 when enrolled was not enough. In 9/22 they finally approved us for the total amount of $540 and said we will be receiving a credit card in the mail in 10-15 days. Well it never came. We called back today and spent 2 hours on the phone with RC Solutions as I spoke to Alba and her supervisor Shelly and explained that the credit card was never received. Alba insisted she could find no record of communication with Maureen or any of her staff and no record that credit card was mailed even after approved in 9/22. She did confirm reimbursement amount was approved but did not have any information about the time it took or process that was involved to get that approval. She agreed to order another credit card and said it would be sent 10-15 days. We requested some kind of discount to our bill for all the trouble we have gone through. Both Alba and her manager insisted that they were just a contractor and that they could not do so. Alba took time to reportedly contact T-Mobile customer service and was reportedly told they would not provide any discount to us for our trouble. I hung up with them and call T-Mobile customer service and spent time talking to William. He apologized for all the trouble and said he would check with his supervisor to see if they could give us a discount for all the trouble above . He returned to phone only to say that his manager said T-Mobile would not be providing a discount as it was their contractor who dropped the ball. I reminded William that it was actually the first rep that we signed up with in the Ballard office that dropped the ball as he initially told us what we needed to get reimbursed through Keep & Switch and info he provided was not correct. I asked for William's manager and he insisted "I am not allowed to give you my managers name." To each person I spoke to I took the time to explain my disappointment and frustration with T-Mobile and the poor customer service they provided. Do not switch over to T-Mobile and do not believe what you are told. They are not a better company and it appears in the end they are also just concerned about money and not about providing good customer service to their customers. read more

Tried switching to t mobile home internet. Was told there is a 2 week free trial. Took it home and the internet was much slower than the Verizon home internet I was using. No big deal. I brought the modem back 10 days later, cancelled service, thought that was everything. T-Mobile sends me a bill in the mail. I bring it into the store and the employee informs me to ignore it, it was sent by mistake, etc. about 2 weeks later I received a collections notice letter, t mobile sent me to collections. I go back to the T-Mobile store, after some time explaining and phone calls, etc, they tell me it's fixed. Guess what, about a week later I receive another bill from T-Mobile. Just constant back and forth. Just a crap way to do business. Store front employees blaming billing people, people over the phone blaming store front employees. Just a joke. I have had to waste so much time dealing with this, just makes me remember, you get what you pay for. Stay away from T-Mobile, spend the extra $10-$20 and go with Verizon. read more

I'm so glad I switched to T-Mobile. So all network stuff aside, I want to talk about my experience at the store. The first time I came in, it was busy but a couple of the employees told me they'd be right with me. I did wait around 5+ mins, but when I was attended to the service was quick and thorough. (It helps if you have some idea of what you want before getting there. I did my research and knew what plan I wanted and T-Mobile's over all schtick). I believe it was Tait that helped me out. He was really responsive and answered what basic questions I had quickly. He set me up in a very short amount of time (the longest time was transferring my contacts to my new phone) I had to come in a few days later because I HATED the phone I decided to get and went back to the iPhone. I came in pretty close to opening. Some shell-shocked veteran was there before me and asking and rambling on about really incessant phone and sometimes war related things. Tait took it well, and kept doing what he had to do for this guy. He ended up being the only guy working there that day. Finally he got to me, apologized, but set me up VERY quickly with my new phone, and it was super easy. So my experience at this place was phenomenal. I am also completely happy with the plan I have set up and the coverage is fine for me too. If you are considering switching plans, then I would go with T-Mobile. Cheaper, and I got great customer service at this location. read more

Up until about a year ago, I would have given T-Mobile 4 or 5 stars for excellent service that I did not have (to say the least) with a previous cell phone carrier (Verizon). However, the last two interactions I had with the Seattle Ballard Crown Hill T-Mobile store over the past month were absolutely horrible such that I hope I never have to deal with that store again. Interaction 1: Last month, while I was in this store to replace my worn-out Android cell phone charger, the store employee sold me on trying out T-Mobile's new home internet service. Anxious to replace my existing Comcast service, I took home the modem and after hours of trying to get it to work properly, I was not able to use a window location for the modem and got 3 bars at best for one of my devices and could not figure out how to connect the other devices. Therefore, I decided to discontinue the service and return the modem. The store employee who sold me on the modem as well as the 611 T-Mobile Customer Service center told me I could return the modem to the store if things didn't work out, so I attempted to do so. The moment I walked in the door, however, another T-Mobile staffer told me that they could not take back any equipment in the store and that I had to handle the return through the 611 Customer Service number. I called 611 again, and after a long hold, the line dropped. I called again and, after another long wait on hold, was told that I could either return the modem at the store or have a mailer sent to me that I would then have to attach to the box the modem came in and then take it to UPS to have them mail back to T-Mobile. So I drove back to the store again, whereupon I was told that they could either call 611 or I could for them to send me a mailer and I would still have to go to UPS to mail the modem back. So I went home again, called 611 and they told me then that they could just email me the bar code to put on the box the modem came in and go to UPS to mail it back, which I did. This entire hassle took many hours; it seems that at each step in the process, I was either given conflicting or incomplete explanations of what needed to be done to return the modem and discontinue the service. All this time-wasting hassle on my part could have been avoided if the T-Mobile Store and the 611 Customer Service center line did a better job of communicating the process to each other and to their customers. Interaction 2: Today, I took my daughter to the Ballard T-Mobile store to see if her phone was truly dead and needed to be replaced or was still working. When we walked in the door, the same employee who one month ago told me that the store could not accept any returned modems parroted my daughter's assumption that her phone was dead before he even tested it and that it needed to be replaced. When I said to him, could you test it, he said he trusted my daughter's assessment and seemed to be smirking at me (even my daughter noticed this, as she told me afterwards). I insisted that he try to turn on the phone anyway, and he reluctantly pressed several buttons on the phone and got it to work. In fact, it was working fine. We left, but I was upset that this employee was extremely rude and arrogant and seemed to care more about selling unnecessary merchandise to get his commission than truly helping customers. Perhaps he should go work for Verizon; he would be in his element there. Sadly, T-Mobile customer service is looking more like Verizon every day! read more

I had originally given this place 1 star, due to a bad service that I received from their associate. Long story short, I needed to switch phone plans and T-Mobile customer care told me that I needed a new SIM card. I could either have them mail one to me which takes 5-7 business days, or I could go into a T-Mobile store and get one. They said that both options would be free. When I came to this store, the associate refused to give me a SIM card unless I switched plans right then and there. T-Mobile customer care was offering me a free month of service due to their mistake on my account. The in store associate wasn't honoring it, nor did I ask her to. I just needed the SIM card that customer care made me get. The associate said that unless I switch plans with her, she would have to charge me $30 for the SIM card on its own. Lol. You can't honor a service that customer care promised me, customer care is forcing me to get a new SIM card for the plan change, so why should I have to pay out of pocket for a new SIM card? A person who knows how to provide great customer service would've said "I see what you're saying. Unfortunately, I am unable to honor the free service because I am unsure about what you and the agent spoke about, but here is a SIM card and come back if you need any further assistance." If not, just redirect me back to customer care so that they can mail me a SIM card since they were the ones who messed up in the first place. I highly doubt that it costs a lot to make a SIM card, so I don't know why she was being stingy with it. Reason for the upgraded 3 star: I decided to pop into this location on 12/11, because I only had 10 minutes til' closing to redeem the free T-Mobile Tuesday gloves. This location is the closest to me, and I fully expected to receive terrible service again. My friend and I walked in, and there were two employees working. One was helping a group of girls, and the other was just standing behind him. The one who wasn't busy, instantly said "Hi there! How can I help you guys tonight?!" I informed him that we were wondering if he had any gloves in stock still, because we had forgotten to redeem them the day before (even though the offer was on a Tuesday, you had until Wednesday to redeem the offer). John, looked down at the floor and saw a box of gloves still in stock. With a friendly smile, he handed the gloves to me and said "gloves for you", and he handed gloves to my friend saying "gloves for you". John then noticed that the ladies who were being assisted by his co worker looking over at us, to which he asked them "did y'all get your free gloves yet?" To which they shook their heads no. He then handed them gloves and said "gloves for you, gloves for you, gloves for everyone!" It was 5 minutes til closing when we arrived, and I was genuinely surprised as to how friendly and full of laughter John was. He has somewhat restored my faith in this location, and this location would be a 5 star location if all of the other employees were as great as John was. I hope he gets some recognition, and I will give this location another chance down the line to see if they've improved from my first experience. So far, they are doing well thanks to John. read more

I was previously at a different location and they were unable to solve my issue that is when I turned to Crown Hill for assistance. I unfortunately do not remember the name of the manager, but both him and Cindy were very helpful updating my phone credentials and also going out of their way to ensure my Apple Watch was linked correctly. I came in for help with a somewhat complicated transfer from Verizon onto my out-of-state relative's Tmo plan with a new Nexus 5. Because my old line had already been cancelled, and trying to activate my phone online resulted in a new sim being sent to me (with an ETA of several more days), I was resigned to having to sign up for prepaid until everything was sorted or losing my old phone number. But the staff (Melani) was very helpful. She made all the calls needed so that I left the shop with my phone activated, attached the the right account, and with the phone number change in process. She also was friendly and understanding, and made it a priority that I was able to have a working phone ASAP. Next morning, my line was ported over, and everything had been resolved in the best way possible. read more

When searching for the right tmobile store to review I KNEW it was this one because of the one star. The only way I could have had a worse experience was if I had literally been physically assaulted. As a backstory I have been with tmobile since I was 19(that's 8 years!!) and aside from petty greviences and irritations...like no service at my house...I haven't had huge complaints. Well, that all changed when I went into this store to purchase a new phone. Not just any phone. A $400 phone. After 2 broken 2G iphones and numerous broken backup nokias it was time. I walked in and explained my situation, the sales guy mentioned one of the more expensive phones and I went along with that. When he pulled up my account it was past due, so I paid it on the spot. I usually pay my bill online when I get a text message that it is due but no phone=no bill text. I even signed up for automatic withdrawal. SO why are they still not letting me buy a phone? This all after I picked out not only the phone but a skin, a case, and a car charger. That's a lot merch folks. So in the end he told me I had to come back the next day so the system could clear my account. What the hell? I was very polite and asked him if he could possibly hold my gaggle of phone equipment behind the counter until I was ALLOWED to buy the phone and he very enthusiastically agreed. Next day, come back, and the other salesman says "oh he's not allowed to hold items for customers". This from the same guy who was standing right next to us when I asked! Why lie? Why? After all that? And in the end I had to extend my contract by 5 months(the date I last revised my plan even though they didn't mention I would be restarted my 2 year contract) just to buy the phone - a phone they would not let me pay for out of pocket. My new goal in life is to leave tmobile and all its awful lying sales people. read more

I have dealt with Hung on numerous occasions and he is nothing short of stellar. The other folks there have been helpful, too, but this guy sets a new bar. This place has a weird vibe. We walked in on a Sunday afternoon to replace our prepaid phone that died recently. The weirdness started when we walked in and was greeted in way where the smile seemed genuine, but her gaze had already drifted by the time she ended the word "hello". She checked up on us a couple more times as we were looking at the new models to research for a future purchase. One time she approached us, it was almost accusatory: "you keep playing with that phone." It almost seemed like she was rushing us so we decided to end the awkwardness and buy the phone we came in for. Though she seemed pleased that we wanted to check out, both open registers were occupied with people getting set up with new accounts (i.e. takes a long time). So instead of opening the third register, which she acknowledged as "not open", she tells us one of the other registers should be available soon then proceeds to text/browse on her mobile device in the corner for the remainder of our transaction. The creepiness didn't stop with that lady. The guy at the register started off fine but then asked for our ID through a yawn. No covering of mouth, no apology, no joke about it being a "lazy Sunday", no repeating of the request in a clear voice. Just a gaping maw asking us "Caaahn AYE haaaaave yyyyour ID?" In other oddness, he had to ask for our ID and credit card two times each. Even the customer-input credit/debit console was supposedly "broken". Hmmm...no sign indicating such and the screen looked just fine. It was just an awkward, weird, off-putting, and not a great buying experience. Let this be a warning to all who want to switch to another carrier after ending a 2-year contract with T-Mobile: If you want to use the same cell number with the new carrier, T-Mobile will charge you for a full month of service regardless of when you terminate. I learned this the hard way. I specifically went to the T-Mobile store on 85th + 15th Ave NW at the end of Jan. 2012 to find out the costs of termination with the aim of avoiding any hidden fees. I told the sales associate of my intent to take my number with me to the new carrier and that I wanted to avoid any hidden fees. Despite that I was told by the associate - and his manager (?) (someone who knew more than he did; the associate seemed unsure and I wanted verification) - that I would only be charged a pro-rated amount based on actual days used. WRONG! Last week I got my final bill and was charged the full amount. When I called the customer service number I was told that I had to pay the full month fee per the terms and conditions. Since my situation is a common one, my conclusion is that T-Mobile retail sales staff are trained to lie. Now I know why the company does so poorly in the annual customer surveys. read more

If I could give this store 1000 stars I would. All the guys and gals that work here are amazing. They are so helpful and empathetic to whatever stressful situation you have (I have unfortunately have had many). I've never seen a cell phone store so personable, attentive and down to earth. The hubs and I went in to transfer our phones from AT&T and had a mediocre experience - the guy helping us wouldn't talk to us until he finished his fantasy football conversation and became *very* condescending when we declined the Jump program (which is included in the corp discount I get....why would I pay for it twice?!). Then, to make matters worse, he messed up my phone order by shipping the wrong phone to the wrong address. This kicked off a comedy of errors involving me being shipped multiple phones, needing to return two of them, etc. So why 4 stars? Because the store manager, Ed, is FANTASTIC. As soon as I flagged the issues, he was all over it. He worked overtime cleaning up the mess, was communicative, detail-oriented, and overall a real mensch. During the course of fixing things, I had to go into the store several times and was also helped by an exceptional gal - didn't catch her name, but has long dark hair - as well as I guy I think is named James. All of them raised the bar in terms of customer service and have turned a crap situation into an opportunity to make us true fans. Well, still not a fan of that first guy, but Ed and the rest of his team can't be beat. Wireless service is one of those necessary evils and when something goes wrong it's painful - but trust me if it does, you want Ed and his team on your side. read more
