Well it's all true. This place is one of kind, as is the man (or men, it's actually two generations of Rays - Ray who is the original proprietor, and his son T-Ray who was the man behind the grill cooking up a storm to a packed house of loyal customers on a hot Monday at noon. And like everyone said, the burgers and fries are great, but we're giving it a 5 cause it's good people and a ton of fun. read more

This was a serious, quality burger. Sure, it's in a renovated gas station. Actually, I've eaten a lot of great sandwiches in gas stations. There's a lot of kitshy ambience here. Totally a local place. The owner was walking around shaking hands, delivering food and making jokes while we eating. A local politician came in and did the same but I think the owner was more popular. Really good, bare bones, burgers. My dad got the fried shrimp place, and though it was good, the Crab Trap's version, which we had had a few days earlier was better. Oh, and the steak fries here were perfectly cooked. Definitely worth checking out, whether you're a local or a tourist. Though there's no sign, you'll know it by the giant burger above the door. read more

Fantastic burger and huge steak cut fries. Busy place but service is pretty fast. Cool set up in an old gas station. Seemed to have a solid local following. Saw a woman with mahi salad that looked amazing. read more

If you don't know this place is a restaurant you might think it is just a service station. This place is a delicious place to eat. They have some of the fluffiest pancakes of anyplace I have been. The service here is top notch and the food was prepared just as we ordered. Only been here for breakfast but am looking forward to eating lunch here. read more

My son and I had bacon cheeseburgers with fries and onion rings. Everything about this meal was 5-star, except for one thing that actually ruined the meal for me: the hamburger meat is laced with spices that left an unpleasant aftertaste. For myself, i'd give 3 stars, and I won't be going back. But I recognize that some people actually like flavored meat, so I think on average, other people would rate this 4 stars. read more

Just had the breakfast sandwiches. Biscuits were fantastic and probably the best grits I've had in a long time. Can't wait to try burgers and other sandwiches. I vacillated between 4-5 stars. The food is definitely five. The service and people definitely five. The place itself is a little grimy but I guess that's the gas station ambiance. Great execution for what they are serving though on the food side and ultimately that's what matters! read more

T-Rays is a fantastic little burger station that serves both breakfast and lunch. You can order at the counter, sit down and relax or take it to go. They have an outside sitting area that feels retro as your sit amongst old gas pumps and remember the good old days. Close to downtown Historic Fernandina Beach and is a local landmark. Must try if passing g through the Island. read more

The potatoes are cut into large chunks, but they are well seasoned and cooked nicely. I can't stand when a potato is undercooked, but this place didn't have that problem. And the cherry on top was the water. Florida locals may not be bothered by the ocean-y taste that comes with their drinking water, but for our family it is something that's hard to get past. We were pleasantly surprised to find that this water tasted as if it was filtered and the ice is that soft kind that's pleasant to chew. This might seem like a silly thing to add, but it really stood out to me and I'm grateful for it.
