PLEASE READ, IT IS WORTH YOUR TIME: I have lived in Tumwater my whole life and was a regular at T-Spa, however the last few times have been an unfortunate experience. In the past, I've considered leaving a review but I'm very anti-confrontational and didn't believe in hurting a business' reputation until my last visit.... Yesterday, my boyfriend and I went in for pedicures and the second we walked in the door I felt like I was being "conned" out of money. I was greeted by Hanna (who is the owner) and was asked if I wanted a "deluxe" pedicure or a "spa" pedicure. I knew there was a difference but wasn't 100% sure what the difference was so I responded with "we would both like basic pedicures with NO WAX" (since wax costs extra at this particular salon). She responded with "ok have a seat" and we were then directed to sit in two of the spa chairs. Hanna started to speak in their language amongst other employees of the salon until one of the employees that speaks very fluent English piped in and said to me "my manager wants to know if you want a deluxe pedicure?" I responded with "I said I want a regular pedicure with NO WAX" (I stayed calm and polite on the outside while frustrated on the inside because I had already told them this). The English speaking employee says to me "okay that's fine. A deluxe pedicure includes a hot stone massage and more so you don't want that?"... Now for the THIRD TIME, I politely said "no thank you, just a regular pedicure." Hanna then looked at me and said "you get seated fast, huh?" As if I should be satisfied with the fact that I didn't have to wait... Yes, I will admit that it was nice to be able to go in there for once and not have to deal with a wait time like I usually have to (sometimes over 40 minutes). After the whole conversation, the gal who gave me my pedicure was named Vy. She was very kind until she started to use her tools and not trim my cuticles and push them back, but COMPLETELY CUT THEM AWAY. On top of that, she was digging around my big toe on the side and without my consent, REMOVED AN INGROWN TOENAIL. Now, I was completely unaware of the fact that I even had an ingrown toenail to begin with, and to be quite honest, I don't have "gross" feet. After Vy removed the ingrown nail, she proudly put it on top of my foot to I'm not sure, show me or present the fact that she was able to remove it? Again, I'm not sure why... but not only did it hurt extremely bad, Vy began to start lecturing me about having the ingrown nail that once again, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WAS THERE. So now, not only did she do that first on my left big toe, then she continued to do the SAME EXACT THING on my right big toe. I was now even more frustrated at this point (you would think that after all of this I would've just gotten up and walked out by now but I really didn't want to cause a scene since I'm not about that. During the actual removal of the nail was very painful, but once it was out, it actually felt a little better). Despite the fact that I wasn't in pain after the ingrown nail was removed, Vy did not put any type of disinfectant on the area to prevent infection, worst case scenario. After the pedicure was said and done and it was time to pay, based on previous experience of payment through T-Spa, I was aware that if you pay in Cash, there is a reward or what they call a "points" system. Vy wrote me a ticket for $42 total between my pedicure and my boyfriends. I was generous enough to hand Vy an extra $6 so there was a $3 tip for herself and the other gal that did my boyfriends pedicure. Vy begins to count the cash in front of me (I get it, just to make sure I gave her enough) and then tells me, "the total is $47." I said, "okay, well I gave you $48." Vy responds with "Only $1 for the tip?!" ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I worked in the restaurant business for several years so I understand that getting under-tipped is frustrating, but you would think that as an employee to a business that if your client/patient/guest or whoever is already unhappy with their visit/experience, the last thing you should be doing is complaining about the amount of your tip. I was so completely fed up with this entire experience that I didn't even have the energy in me to argue with Vy so I handed her a total of $53 and walked out of the business. (I won't even bother to argue about getting "points for cash" or not since I don't plan on ever going back). After this experience was all said and done, I looked up on the Washington State Department of Licensing for Esthetician Manicurists website to see what they are actually licensed to do and what their license entitles them to do.... NOTE: WA State Licensed Estheticians MANICURISTS are NOT licensed to remove cuticles and/or ingrown nails. As well as perform "cutting" of any kind. This varies based on the state you live in. Got my toes done recently. I enjoyed it. My girlfriend got her nails done also. Not sure for the 2 star Rating. I've never had a problem.

My daughter and I went in for a pedi and two mani's. After settling on a color (they were out of my first 4 choices) for my toes, I had to go through the same ordeal trying to find a color for my mani. I picked one. The gal started my mani, and with the first stroke of color on my pinky nail, she said. 'no, pick another color, this is too light' to which I replied, 'you're out of the colors I wanted. Please use this one, but just do an extra coat or two'. After arguing with her about not wanting another color, I asked her to just remove the bit she put on my pinky. She was clearly very upset with me. She removed the color. I waited for my daughter to finish and when we went up to the counter to pay, the gal tells me it's $81!! WHAT?! For mani and a pedi? She still charged me for my manicure, even though I didn't get one. Her response to me was, 'well, she started, but you didn't pick color'. This establishment had the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I made this account just to post this review. First we waited for over 40 minutes, and then the nail technician was extremely rude to my friend. He was pissed when she hadn't picked out a color (we were never given the colors) and was extremely rude to her when she asked to see them. He then did a horrible job, and then nails didn't look good. After that, they proceeded to overcharged us both 10$, contrary to what the price was on the board. Rude rude rude people! I came in to get a fill I even had a picture of the shape and designs for my nails. The lady kept arguing with me and didn't listen. She made my nails to short and they were the wrong shape. When I noticed that my thumb nail was crooked I asked her to take off the nail and redo it she got upset and the supervisor came to finish my nails he was also very rude I showed him the picture and told him what I wanted done with the nail then he started to talk down to me and wasn't listening to what I wanted done after that he started shaking one of my fingers and telling me I needed to relax my finger in my hand I told him that that was as relaxed as my finger was going to be because I have had surgery on it he then stood up and said I can't do your nails I'm refusing you service read more

Seriously the worst experience ever! I've been getting my nails done for almost 10 years and this has been the worst ever. This was my first time here. I was asked what I was getting done and I said pedicure, he said pick color 3 times to me after I said I wanted French tip each time he asked me. I had a glass of wine, my pedicure was good. But, after I said I wanted to take off color off my nails which I had on shellac. Which another lady helped me, I told her that I wanted color off and that I wanted to fill the white on 2 of my fingers. She kept asking me if I wanted a fill, I kept letting her know I don't need one. I just got them done from my normal place I go too a week ago. After I washed my hands, she was going to put white shellac on my 2 finger nails, I told her that I want the white fill, she then was talking to one of her co workers in there language. She put way too much white and did not even come close to match my other nails, I told her I didn't want that much white, and I wanted them to match the rest of my nails. She filled them down, so now those 2 nails are completely shorter then the rest of my nails. I told her never mind on my nails, after she put clear on my nails and left the 2 nails in painted. They charged me. And I asked if I was getting charged and you paint my other 2 fingers or take it off. She told me to sit down, I sat down and a guy came up and started taking off the clear coat, his attitude sucked. He said I don't do his job for a profession so He said they never match. I said yes they do, I have never had issues and my normal place. He kept being completely rude telling me I don't know his job. This nail salon I will NEVER GO TO AGAIN!! I used to like going here, but after my last few visits I was pretty upset w/ the guys that work there. One of them we're so rude telling me "don't look... stop looking" at him while he was doing my nails. Like really?? He was jerking my hands too, like he was super irritated!! I had been going to T Spa for a while and was pleased. A few weeks ago I had an experience that totally changed my mind. As I continue to "nurse" my nails back from a terrible gel manicure, I feel inclined to put a review on Yelp. The manicurist was more interested in greeting and seating incoming clients than paying attention to working on my nails. I asked that she not be quite as abrasive while prepping for the polish application and it apparently annoyed her insofar as she literally scruffed them down and weakened them so much that within a week they were breaking. When my nails get healthy and are long enough to polish, I will definitely be on the lookout for a new mani/pedi salon. read more

First off this is the first time I've ever been to this nail salon. I don't live out there and had some time to kill so figured why not get a manicure. When I first walked in I almost fell over the fumes were so strong! The lady that did my nails was so sweet and it was really nice talking to her. But she really did a horrible job :( I had to re file my nails because they were uneven. And the fake nail is already lifting off my real nail and it's only been 3 days. The fake nail she put on or the gel whatever it is didn't cover my real nail so you can tell I'm wearing fake nails. Also my nails look really wide and fat at the top. I feel bad leaving a negative review but they just look awful. I don't have a lot of money so $40 dollars plus a good tip is a lot....especially when I'm going to have to get them fixed in a few days as the fake nails are lifting. I haven't had fake nails for a long time but remember not having to get them filled again or touched up for at least a couple weeks. The staff is nice and friendly, however communication is sometimes a problem. Also, this store is particularly bad at fibbing about how long the wait is. The MO is to rush you into a chair or start soaking your feet so that you feel committed, but then they make you wait an extremely long time if they are busy. Please, T Spa, tell the truth. I have been to this salon before and received iffy service but I thought I would try it again since it is close to work. Now I know I will not go back. First off it's too busy and service is rushed. I only wanted a simple manicure but they kept pushing the gel which I did not want (and did not get). The manicure was poorly done and my nails started peeling and chipping the very next day. When I was asked to pay, I was told that they only accept cash (not even check) which I thought was weird. After getting cash from their own ATM machine (!!) and paid, she told me that they do take cards/checks but it costs her so they "prefer" cash! A very strange place that left a disturbing feeling in my gut when I left. The woman who worked on me was polite, but distant. I asked her how long she had been in the US and she said about 6 months. I then asked if she had gone up to Seattle yet. She said that she couldn't because she works everyday. She then glanced at her boss with fearful eyes like she had said something she shouldn't have. Tumwater location, used to be my favorite place to get my eyebrows done. They used to take time trimming and shaping the brow, the wax would be cool to touch and the employees would be polite. Price for the work was perfect. Since remodel, about a year ago now. I just returned, to find out the service is the most of my complaints the wait is unreal, plus the job she did was horrible, I find it hard to complain for the most part. I personally work in customer service myself so I respect people who do service to make others happy. The hard part is when it's bad. I will be discontinuing my future service here, much rather be treated like a customer not a heard of cattle just to spend money! Quality over quantity In my book! read more

Very poor customer service. I was looking forward to trying this spa, but I won't go back. I'm not overly nit-picky, but the manager ordered my manicurist to stop my pedicure mid-way and go work on someone else's manicure. (All in Vietnamese , so I didn't know what had happened until I phoned later that day to complain.) I was left sitting there. When I asked someone else what was going on, a flurry of exchanged words resulted in a new person hurriedly finishing my pedi. All that AND I developed an infection in one of my toes where the cuticle had been cut. My phone call to register a complaint resulted only in a protest that the manager "has the right" to direct the manicurists anywhere he wants. I would not recomend this place especially if you are coming with a large group. I booked an appointment about 3 weeks in advance for me and my bridesmaids, they promised us the private back room at 6pm. We showed up a little early about 545 to pick out colors and they were taking other people back to that room at that time even though there were plenty of open chairs in the main part. When told we had reserved that room for our large party they claimed to have no knowledge of it even though it was written in the appointment book right in front of them. At about 615 after being asked how much longed they hurried the people out of that room and rushed all of us in. Our pedicures were rushed there was no massage a couple of us didn't even get the scrubs or hot towels and the paint jobs were sloppy. While i was getting my pedicure another lady came in to start my manicure and turned off the back massager and explained i would not be able to have it on at all because she was going to start my nails. As the pedicures started to finish up they rushed all of us out of the private room into the main room to do our nails. This was something we all wanted to do as a group and we were split up. Their credit card machinr declined a few of our cards even though we checked our balances and there was plenty of money in our accounts they insisted on cash. Don't ever go to this Tspa! Had eye lash extensions put on and then went back for a fill afew weeks later. I was taken next store to the empty Allstate office due to the remodel. It was filled with junk and extremely dirty . 3 days later got a major eye infection. Called Ryan the owner. He said he would send me a refund for the cost of my lashes$135.00. I called when they opened, asking if I need to make appointment. He said, "come on in". When I arrived 15 min. later, I was greeted by a Man. I waited 10 plus minutes. The same Man put a full set on very quickly. The nails were very thick, some pointed upward, others were filed crooked & 2 nail tips were not painted completely. When I returned 90 minutes later & requested them to be removed & a refund. I was treated very poorly & NOT given a refund. After he pryed 3 nails off (very painful!) & damaging them in the process. I stopped him & asked if there was a solution OR other method of removing the nails so that it wouldn't hurt & damage them. He said, "No, this is how it's done". He then told Hana to do it, "that he can't deal with me". Hana filed them down but left 7 nails with acrylic still on them. My nails are now extremely damaged. I've since learned that there are 3 ways to SAFELY remove acrylic nails. SOAKING them in acetone, filing them down or using dental floss. Horrible experience!!! Had my nails done today and also told them I wanted my eyebrows done as well. So I paid for both before having "Hanna" wax my eyebrows. Usually she hands me the mirror when she is done to look at them today so said done and Walked out of the room. I was going to this nail salon for about four months and always got great service. The person that did my nails did a beautiful job and my nails lasted without any problems. BUT the last time I went the gentleman worked on my nails and I guarantee I will not be back. I've had two nails lift and come off, the length and shape weren't right, he was rude while working on my nails - in a condescending way kept telling me to relax and told me to trust him. I told him twice that the shape was not what I wanted, but then gave up because I needed to return to work. My nails weren't even dry when I left and they weren't checked to even see if they were dry. So after several attempts and then to find out I was just being lied to I will no longer do business there. I have been going to T-SPA Nails every other week for the past 4 years. I get a $26 gel manicure and leave a $5 tip. I also get pedicures monthly. This past year the service has gone down hill and the work is bad. I have to file my own nails after the manicure it is done so poorly. I am loyal so have been telling myself it was just a bad day and will be better better next time. I finally decided there will not be a next time. There are some new younger gals there that could care less about the customer. They do bad work and spend the whole time talking and giggling about customers. It's one thing to complain or make fun of customers privately in the break room but right in front of the customers is so rude. They think we can't understand them but picking up a few words and their mannerisms make it it quite clear. Anyway after 4 years of being a loyal customer, I am done. I started going here because of its location, and hey the sign says voted best in the area...well the first few times everything was great but then as I was getting fills on my overlay my nail would keep breaking and I'd have to go back in again and again for repairs. Then the gel polish was chipping. So I went to a place on the west side and my nails were breaking in places after that too. No, I don't use my hands a lot and in fact I don't have a job. Went home to WI for a wedding and got my nails done - they lasted 6 weeks!! I went back to TSpa for a fill and right away the polish was peeling off and they were breaking. Last time I went to get a repair she didn't even fix the nail that was broken she just painted over it. I don't think they used primer or a base coat and that may be why it is peeling :(. I have been getting my nails done for years so I know what to expect and I am not happy with their service anymore. I'm sick of having to go back in to have things fixed a couple days later. Yes, they do it for free which is great but they still don't do a good job. Now I have to find a different place in town! Wish I could go back to the salon in Madison, WI.
