Ordered takeout, was NEEDING pad thai after a night out. This didn't exactly hit the spot though. For being one of the most popular dishes...it's just mid. Not worth $20. The flavor is sweet with a heavy red hue to it. I typically like my pad thai on the browner side if that makes sense. The peanuts add more depth of flavor for sure but it could also use a bit of spice and should've came with a lime wedge to cut the sweetness. Great portion size though & takeout service was fast. Also beware if you don't like tofu as it comes in the eggs that they add to the dish. read more

Stopped by The Thonglor New York for dinner and ordered the pad kra pow with a fried egg on top. The egg is definitely a must for this dish! As a Thai person myself and as indicated on their menu, it's the way most Thais eat this dish :) The fried egg added that rich, runny element that really brings everything together. The veggies were nicely sautéed, fresh and still crisp, and there was a good amount of ground pork, so the dish felt hearty and satisfying rather than rice-heavy. Overall, the flavors were solid and comforting, though I personally found it just a touch sweeter than I prefer for pad kra pow. Even so, it definitely hit the spot and was very satisfying for a late-night craving. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the experience pleasant overall. One thing to keep in mind though is timing - if you're dining closer to closing, you may feel a bit rushed toward the end of your meal. All in all, a solid option for Thai food! Terrible Service: The server was uninterested - uninterested in greeting me & getting my order -- I had to flag her down in order to just get an order in. We kind of decided to go to this location last minute with a friend and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The food was seriously so good - we got a few different items that we shared and every single dish was flavourful. The pad see ew was probably the winner but everything we tried was tasty. Even the sauces on the side were so good that you wanted to dip everything in them. The vibe is nice. It wasn't too loud which I appreciated and the place has a peaceful feel that makes you feel comfortable just sitting there to enjoy. I've been to The Thonglor in Manhattan four times now, and it has quickly become one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the city. It's a very small place, but that's part of its charm - it feels cozy and intimate, almost like a hidden gem. The restaurant is very small with maybe six tables inside and two outside. They have a drink menu but I don't think they have their alcohol license yet so I saw other people BYOB. We decided to order a bunch of things to share: -Phla Kung (shrimp salad - chili paste, red onion, mint, lettuce in a spicy lime dressing) - we originally wanted to get the soft shell crab salad, but the waitress said it wasn't that good, which I appreciated. We really enjoyed the shrimp salad. The shrimp were big and perfectly cooked, and the lime dressing was so fragrant/flavorful/delicious -Khao Soi (egg noodles and chicken in a Thai curry broth) - the broth was good but the chicken was not. It had that old leftover chicken taste. You also have to eat the noodles pretty quickly, otherwise it becomes a soggy mess -Chicken larb - the flavors were good but the chicken again had this leftover taste. The spicy lime dressing from the shrimp salad helped make this dish a bit more palatable -Pad Thai with mixed seafood wrapped in egg - this was on the "Chef's Specials" section of the menu, which I guess meant they put an egg on it and charged $25 on it. So not worth it. There was barely any seafood - just whatever is on top, which was three pieces of squid, two shrimp, and two mussels. The noodles itself were good so you're better off just ordering the regular Pad Thai. That'll save you $9 I would probably come back just for the shrimp salad and maybe even the pad Thai. But just stay away from anything that has chicken in it. read more

The beau and I made the outlandish choice to go here on the hottest day of the summer. Needless to say this tiny storefront of a restaurant does not have adequate air conditioning but I will not penalize them for that in this review. The food is some of the best Thai I have had in the neighborhood. The food was piping hot and full of flavor. This might just be my new favorite go-to Thai restaurant. My friend and I walked in for dinner a few weeks ago and we were blown away by the flavor and quality of the food here. I was running quite late, so I was relieved that my friend was seated without the full party being there. It was not super crowded on a Thursday night and the space was pretty small as well. My pad see ew noodles were incredibly tender and I loved the amount of vegetables they added into the dish. The pad Thai was also deliciously seasoned with well-cooked chicken.
