Mango with Sticky rice. 2 stars. IG: @amei.eats

(Pad See Ew: 50% | F) - This dish has too many flaws. First, for some reason the Pad See Ew is sour, when the recipe should not call for any type of acidity. There's so much tofu that it overpowers the dish and the noodles are incredibly lumpy displaying a poor technique in cooking -- far worse than if I were to teach someone with no prior experience myself. (Mango Sticky Rice: 65% | D) - The flavors of this dish is actually quite nice and reasonable, but the rice is lumpy and hard and really needs to be soften before serving. IG: @amei.eats

My friend and I ordered takeout from here and although the food was delicious, my meal was WAYYY too greasy. The tofu in my drunken noodles was very bland and spongey, it would've been nice to have smaller pieces with more flavor and a less spongy texture. My friend had some sort of curry rice & a coconut curry soup which he really enjoyed but the rice also looked greasy. I would recommend this location but beware that the meal may be very greasy but flavorful.

I loved this food! A lot of Thai restaurants offer a similar menu. Some places replicate the basics and are just average, while others take it to the next level. This restaurant is definitely the latter! The veggie spring rolls came with five in an order. This dish rarely disappoints and it was tasty. I also got the panang curry and pad thai with tofu. The curry came with a generous portion of rice. Both entrees were great. I ordered the curry medium spicy and the pad thai extra spicy and the level of heat was perfect. Everything tasted flavorful and fresh. The pad thai had thin noodles and a rich sauce. All the food arrived piping hot. This might be my new go-to Thai restaurant!

The jungle curry is a standout; at the risk of being deemed useless, unfunny and uncool, I confess that I have no details on the particulars of the spices except to say there are many. I went for "medium" which was no joke. Texture is closer to soup than sauce. If you're trying to find that middle ground, low risk but more enticing than spring rolls, try the fish cake appetizer.

Veggie tom kha soup, drunken noodles with chicken

Thai cuisine isn't hard to find in Hudson County. *Good* Thai cuisine is a tougher challenge. I ordered delivery on a frigid Saturday night, looking to satisfy a craving and get a jolt of heat to take off the chill. My order of veggie tom kha soup (coconut milk, lemongrass, vegetables, chilis) was oddly bitter but packed the spice, as did the drunken noodles: spicy, sour, salty, and bold. The food came pretty quick and at a reasonable price. All told: worth a repeat order

I had a doordash credit expiring so we decided to order for delivery from here one night. It looked pretty promising since it had 4.5 stars on Yelp. Unfortunately, the food was not good. We started with the Chicken Dumplings. The description mentioned 'Steamed stuffed chicken, served with soy ginger sauce'. I think it is not unreasonable for us to believe there were steamed dumplings. Instead, they were fried to the point where there dumpling skin was super dry, and it was super oily overall. I also had a tom yum soup since I was in a soupy mood. It was way too spicy, and salty. That's pretty much all I tasted. For the mains, I had the pad see ew. The noodles were not bad. But I love flat rice noodles so it would take a lot for me not to like it. However, the chicken I had ordered it with was so overcooked and dry. My fiancé had the Kao Pad Roi Fried Rice (Thai style fried rice with egg, chicken, pork, Chinese sausage, scallions, onions and tomatoes). I didn't find any pork in there but the chicken was the same situation - dry AF. It was also pretty bland overall. They could have taken some salt from the tom yum and added it here instead. Not sure if it really would have helped though. Definitely will not be ordering from here again.

Was craving Thai food and did a quick search on Yelp to find what was nearby. This was the only restaurant open on New Year's Day after 6pm. We were greeted very warmly and service was great. The vegetable rolls were the best I've ever had and honestly I could go back just for those. The food took a long while and they didn't have the heat on so it was very cold and finally they gave us a portable heater for our table and we were able to enjoy the meal in comfort. Their basil fried rice still doesn't beat my fave Thai restaurant, but the rolls are now a fave.

This place doesn't have a cool eat-in vibe at all. It was cold inside and the lighting was like a Chinese takeout restaurant. However, the chef was very welcoming and was very passionate about preparing our meals. I really appreciate his hospitality, he made the experience very personable and enjoyable. Once we got back to the recording studio, we enjoyed wonderful and flavorful dishes. I had the Thai Chilli with Tilapia and vegetables which were amazingly good. Great take out place for some real authentic Thai cuisine. The soup is also delicious, this is the best spot Thai spot in Union City,

The 'authentic Thai cuisine' subtext under the name, is legit. I'm a Thai food snob. Probably my favorite cuisine. And to be honest, there are a lot of just average Thai restaurants out there, ones that do enough to be acceptable. They meet the bar but don't venture much further Rio Siam is one that takes their cuisine seriously and executes on the authentic aspect. When I asked for spicy, they made it spicy. The green curry was absolutely delicious! Would reorder again in a heartbeat so full of flavors. The papaya salad, crunchy and spicy as it should be. Ginger with chicken was on point, I actually saw real ginger inside. The portions were generous and the price is right. I had delivery this time but would love to dine in next time.

The restaurant was busy and I was by…read moremyself so I was happy to sit at the bar, and was attended to by the most sweet bartender ever. Very polite, professional and attentive. I first ordered the crispy spring rolls, which were very good. For my main I had the Massaman Curry. Now folks, this is my favorite curry of all time -- actually one of my favorite foods of all time -- and while it's common in LA where I used to live, it's not as common where I live now, in the Bay Area. And the restaurants that do carry it usually do not make it right and it's not very good. I am used to Massaman in the traditional preparation where it's more like a beef stew made with chunks of beef and needs to cook overnight. When done right it is the most aromatic curry ever -- it's almost like an aphrodisiac! -- and the beef comes out oh so tender. Usually if places have this curry but then offer a choice of protein, then it generally is not cooked properly, and that is actually how they prepare it at SaiTong. But because of such great reviews I decided to take a chance and try it. Well, let me tell you, it was definitely not the norm...it was absolutely delicious! I had it with chicken (they serve breast as default), and the chicken soaked up the curry really nicely. I also asked for there to be no onions, which I think alters the flavor of a curry too much. It does include the traditional potatoes and peanuts, and the potatoes were fine and cut into nice little chunks, the peanuts actually were thrown in raw.. what I think is the more traditional way which is to actually burn the peanuts a little bit, but that's okay, it didn't take down the dish any. Their brown rice is of the very dark kind, which I like, and goes so well with the curry. Service was wonderful from the bartender but was also provided by the rest of the staff and everyone was so nice. I left there feeling so satisfied, and cannot wait to go back and try some other dishes.

Following several errands I entered Sala for lunch, table for one please. I did not wait for an eternity for a table or to be served. I was certainty lured by lavish high praise from Yelpers but I decided to give it the o' college. The tables are closely next to seat neighbor patrons where I was beside a heterosexual couple who were all giddy holding hands and eternally doomscrolling on their respective phones. The tables are separated by a transparent partition fends a fake privacy sense. Pad Kee Mao with shrimp $20.00 Mild spicy as it is certainly not for the faint hearted who can intake spicy foods as the fried flat Chow Fun noodles were solid and sufficient for quantity. This entrée is my default to order. It was served somewhat piping hot. I choose to add shrimp as my choice of protein to be included in this entree. There were abundant onions. However, there were very minimal basil leaves and the bell peppers were stump stems as vegetables. The fried flat Chow Fun flat broad noodles is the main ingredient of this entree as the leading role which were flavorful. I truly enjoyed this entree as it is prepared in the traditional way. I did not particularly care for the bits of scrambled egg as I regard it as irrelevant. The shrimp, sadly, appears overcooked for too chewy and heavy with mash texture. I usually do not intake spicy foods as it is not my cup of tea, but I am open to intake and immerse in ethnic food cuisines and cultural foods. Immediately, minutes later my stomach highly disagreed with this mild spicy food and visited the restroom facility. I did not finish this entrée as I fear my stomach will further disagree. Thai iced tea $6.00 The only salvation for the mild heat spicy index of my mouth was the Thai ice tea because it contains milk. I've searched for ways to cool one's mouth for eating spicy food which drinking milk, eating chocolate and drinking alcohol are effective methods - NOT water. Cold water is distributed to battle the excessive heat and July 2026 NYC humidity. I am utterly dismayed that food is still a victim of stagflation for Thai ice tea extortionate priced $6.00! Oh! I wished I had carried Altoids breath mints which gets the job of clearing the effects of spicy food mouth. This entrée ate my fill and sustained my hunger pangs for the whole evening. It was served chilled with very minimal ice in a pineapple shape glass. Customer service is average. One of my waitress appeared new and in training as she was very visible to be befuddled when I requested for chopsticks. I almost always do not consume Asian food with a fork as a cultural penchant. However, the underlying truth for reason of this female waitress's wayward behavior is the L.E.P. Limited English Proficiency. I did obtain my sales receipt as a keepsake. I did obtain a business card and takeout menu. Complimentary mints are distributed at the end of the meal. There are two restroom facility. The upper floor is not ADA accessible as there is one short flight of stairs. The entrance is hidden behind an outdoor dinning shed which is actually a hostess stand and can be easily missed. The dinning room decorum is very lavish with wood carpentry paneling walls and including ceiling, small chandeliers, ornate gold beaded wall painting frames, and wall to wall dark wood carpentry paneling in the bathroom. The bathroom door handle is a ornate duck object. There is a Dyson hand dryer. Sala Thai Restaurant is located at 307 Amsterdam Avenue (at West 74th and 75th Streets) in Upper West Side, Manhattan, NYC. It is very accessible via 1, 2, 3 local trains at 72nd Street subway station and B, C local trains at 72nd Street Central Park West followed by a reasonable walk.

My friend and I were heading somewhere else for dinner, but our original spot was closed for a private event. We decided to pivot and come here instead, and it worked out very much in our favor! I actually just got back from a trip to Thailand, so I went in with high hopes but a curious mind about how the authenticity and flavors would compare. While there were naturally a few little differences in taste here and there compared to being on the ground in Thailand, it didn't dim the deliciousness whatsoever. The food here is absolutely stellar. We decided to sit at the bar, and both bartenders who looked after us were incredibly friendly, helpful, and super clear when explaining the specials. I asked one of them for their favorite recommendations, and it did not disappoint. Here is what we ordered: Pineapple Fried Rice ($21): We ordered it without adding any protein, and it was packed with flavor. Highly recommend. Pad Thai ($24): We added beef to this one, but honestly, the noodles were so incredibly flavorful on their own that it didn't even need the additive! Thong Pan Sai Gai ($17): These looked almost like little tacos but were uniquely delicious. Papaya Salad ($16) & Satay Spring Rolls ($16): Perfect, fresh starters to kick off the meal. Mango Sticky Rice ($17): A must try for dessert. They use purple rice for this, and it was so yummy. For drinks, my friend ordered a Lycheetini ($19) and loved it. I had the Tangmo, Tangmo, Tangmo ($20) which was nice and refreshing. Even though our meal was a mix of great apps and sides, it was incredibly filling. We actually walked out with leftovers.
