Tiki's is a very chill environment! I liked that was just a few us patrons at the tables. We ordered food and the turn around was not terrible, not the speediest, but the food was good. The spam musubi were good but the nori didn't sit long enough to have a clean bite without it tearing through the rest of the wrapping. Coconut shrimp were actually very tasty and a great crunch, but the coconut dipping sauce was a bit overwhelming in flavor. I think a savory sauce would complement it best. Pork lumpia, delicious! The shrimp and mahi tacos were ok... it could have used more depth with the slaw and again there seem to be an other sweet sauce. Paired with the Mahi was good but with the shrimp overpowering. My son loved the Huli Huli chicken it definitely had the Hawaiian barbecue flavor, was tasty! The drinks were strong all around the table! One night we decided we want a quick take out. My wife went for her comfort food, Loco Moco. Which pretty much the same at all restaurants in the local area. On the other hand I like to try something new or different. I got the Spicy Sisig (I know others server this) and this was a new entrée for me. Went here around 4:30 on a Friday to finally try out their happy hour. This was my third attempt after trying to go before and it was a packed house with a 1 hour wait. Luckily, there was no wait this time and there were some tables open when we arrived. It's actually kind of small on the inside so I def see how the place fills up often. We started with the Spam Musubi (6/10) big chunk of rice and a small sliver of spam, wasn't a fan of that. The Skewered Chicken (9/10) was fresh and hot and a decent amount to share. For our first round of drinks we had the Swizzle (10/10) strong and yummy and the Blue Hawaiian (8.5/10) it was sweet and tasty, not too strong. We also tried the Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos (4/10) they were dry and even after I asked for extra sauce, I still wasn't satisfied. Either the fish, the slaw, or the sauce had a weird tangy after taste! On the side I had some Macaroni Salad (10/10) that was yummy for sure! Second round of drinks we had another Swizzle and a Tiki Island (9/10). Overall, I loved the vibe and atmosphere of the place. It's great for date night, but I wouldn't come back for the food. I was def left disappointed. I would; however, totally come back for drinks. I saw they have live band nights, I'd love to come back and see how that is. Order the garlic shrimp app, took a bite, and got hit with the flavor of just straight up burnt garlic... when i mentioned to our waitress she then proceeded to tell what I believe was a manager. Manager came in saying it was a "charcoal" flavor (didn't know we can charcoal shrimp since it's a 3min cook). Manager came in saying she tried the shrimp and saw no problem with it, so I then asked for a refund and no dish but she proceeded to explain that they cannot refund me or take an item away from the bill (keep in mind we only ate two shrimp) i guess they don't know how to cook garlic without burning it bc they brought back the new plate with just shrimp and garlic powder. A true hidden gem! The outside seems oddly placed, but the decor and vibes are spot on. Truly felt like I was in the Bahamas. We came during happy hour (M-F, 4-6) and barely got a spot! Hidden in a nondescript strip mall, are windows covered with bamboo mats, beyond which is a portal to a paradise straight out of the South Pacific. Overall this place was bad. The drinks menu was extensive and look great when they come out but taste terrible, it actually gave me a headache. I ordered the North Shore shrimp and the Hawaiian BBQ platter. I lived in Hawaii and this was NOT even close to Hawaiian style food. The Kimchee was soo salty, and the chicken taste like it came out of a bag and they put teriyaki sauce on it. The shrimp was not sautéd with butter and garlic, it was deep fried and had ZERO flavor, didn't even give you a sauce. Food was expensive also after 2 appetizers 2 drinks and 2 plates total was $125. Upon entering you are immediately stunned by the level of detail that has been put into making the restaurant look unique! Do not judge this establishment by their outside! We sat at the bar and tried their Mai Thai special, the bartender was friendly and explained the menu and offered cocktail options. Actual rating: 4.5 stars The only reason my real rating is a half a star off is that the drinks are a little stronger than most tiki bars. Nevertheless, they were all delicious. The four of us ordered: Tiki Island, Blue Hawaiian, Dark and Stormy, Mai Tai, Navy Grog, and 151 Swizzle. If you're looking for something a little more on the sweet side, none of these were that exactly. They were all pretty terrific. My friend and I went on a Tuesday evening for happy hour. The inside is decorated very cool. It has a Hawaiian theme. It wasn't packed and we were seated immediately. For drinks we both got The Headhunter. It wasn't in Happy Hour and also got a vodka pineapple. The Headhunter was ok, I don't think I would order it again. Loved the presentation though. For food, I got the coconut rice and shrimp. My friend got the lumpia. We both enjoyed it. I found out later it was Taco Tuesday. Our waitress didn't even mention it. I may try it next time. Ooooh I was transported right back to Hawaii! My niece and I were so excited to try this place (we found it on Yelp's "surprise me" feature)! When we walked in, the vibe was vibing. I say poutine because that's what it is kinda...but not what it's called on their menu. It's called Kalua pork gravy fries. It was AMAZING! If you want to be taken back to the Island and want that small Tiki Hut feel. This the place! It's not that big of a restaurant so it does get booked right away, so I suggest coming a little early. My focus was having the dessert the Table Top Smores experience! Most coffee/dessert shops closes early, but Tiki's you can order dessert anytime until closing at 11pm. Mind you they do have other main dishes, but I just wanted this experience. I's a great experience if you want to impress someone. The presentation of the dessert is so cool. It had the little table top coal flame and the fixings around it. You're actually able to toast your marshmallow. It was so delicious and a great fun. Too bad they didn't serve milk with it, but they do have other array if drinks to chose from. Epic fail! Ordered a Beyond Burger to go--they make a Pineapple Burger here, so I opted for that burger to be made with Beyond Burger instead. The woman on the phone asked me which side I wanted (I didn't realize the sides were extra--and that's my fault). My pineapple burger and garlic rice was a whopping $22. Yikes! I have ordered this same meal plenty of times before, and maybe I don't recall it costing $22, that just seems STEEP for a burger and rice, but hey, I asked for it and I paid... I get halfway down the street, check my order and this $22 Pineapple burger did not even have the key ingredient--a PINEAPPLE! For $22, I want what I want. I guess it wasn't in the cards for me to eat that $22 meal today. I returned the pineapple-less burger and got my money back. Two doors down is Sloppy Seconds--they have vegan burger options for $15 AND that includes a side. This seems like an easy choice. read more

I was excited to find this Tiki spot and based on the reviews I was expecting a good experience. Unfortunately, it was underwhelming. When we walked in my daughter (4 years) was mesmerized by the ambiance. Literally her jaw dropped as we walked in. It is a very cute restaurant. After the first sip, my mom and I both said they were rather warm. All the food was ok but nothing special. I will add the sauce for the coconut shrimp was appalling, ask for the sweet chili sauce, it's much better. Wanting to order more food or whenever we needed the waitress we had to flag her down. She never came by to check on us. Water cups sat empty, food sat untouched waiting for sauces, drinks were warm, slow service... meh, I doubt we'll go back. The highlights of this place was that the ambiance gave a speakeasy tiki kind of feel. And the drinks (we ordered a Mai Tai), were strong. However the service was so so and the food was mostly a miss instead of a hit. I will say the spam masubi was good but for $10 it was basically only two small masubi's cut in half, at least they were good. As for the Hawaiian BBQ plate, everything about it was a miss. Both BBQ meats were ehh, the rice was dry and the Mac salad literally had no seasoning. I accidentally found Tiki's Bar and Grill, and it was a very pleasant accident. Word on the street is that it's the only real Tiki bar in Virginia Beach. It just so happen that I visited on Wednesday, which is 'build your own burger' night. It was hard to decide between going with Hawaiian-style food or a burger. For this visit, I went with a burger (I was not feeling too adventurous), and it was an awesome choice. Actually, I hope to return soon to try some of the Hawaiian food - especially Tiki's Bar and Grill's take on Moco Loco. Our bartender/server was pretty friendly, and the service was pretty fast. Also, the bartender was pretty cool because he allowed me to make a few *simple* modifications to my cocktails. We have been here twice now and we absolutely will return. I am a big tiki cocktail fan and these are delicious. Sit at the bar and watch the effort that goes into each of these complex concoctions. The mai tai is the real deal not some mix crap. Puka punch knocks your socks off and the humuhumnukunukuapua'a is a great gin-based alternative to rum drinks. The garnish work is so good you have to have a good time. I would have previously knocked this place for its food. But now that has improved considerably. The hawaiian bbq plate was excellent and went with the drinks. The kimchi complimented the fruit juices and rum beautifully. Not all the dishes are perfect but I will definitely keep trying things. Be warned: the word is out. On a Friday at six a bunch of regulars were already planted at the bar and only a couple tables were left. And people linger here to talk for a long time, so go early. They have Beyond burgers here, yay!! So I went with a Pineapple Burger with a Beyond patty. My sister got the One-Eyed Jack Burger. We were really happy with the burgers as well. The pandesal roll is a really nice touch. It was sweet and really yummy. Our burgers were cooked perfectly, and the egg on my sister's was nicely done as well. Both of our burgers were served with crispy fries, which were great too. I also opted to try their macaroni salad. This is the first macaroni salad that I have ordered from a restaurant and actually enjoyed!! It was delicious and not too sweet like other macaroni salads.
