Food was not great. Crunchy paella with chewy chicken and broken shells mixed in. The salmon was very fishy and the steak bland. When they turned the restaurant into a dance club, the majority of the drunk kids looked to be under 21. Fighting, falling and getting kicked out. Not a great time. I visited Tablao with some friends to celebrate a successful concert (anyone who has sung Brahms' Requiem in German knows all that hard work and energy deserves gorging on post-performance refreshments with friends who came to listen). Tablao is a cute place for tapas and there's a section that opens to outdoor seating along Sanford Street. The fried calamari was perfectly light and crisp and the sauces were excellent. The pear salad was wonderful, though I would have loved it even more if the goat cheese had been served warm. Service was hospitable and attentive and made you feel like family while dining. So many tapas that we had to choose from! We didn't care for the octopus. Sort of fishy which I've never experienced but everyone agreed it didn't taste good. Short rib was excellent. squash flour was unremarkable. Cheese Croquettes and lamb chops were ok. Tuna Tartare was excellent. Hanger Steak was pretty good. Wine selection was excellent and they had different wines by the glass if you didn't want the bottles they offered. Service was very good as well. I would probably return. I'm not much in favor of tapas style food but we had a nice time and now I know some of the things we would order again and some we would avoid. read more

Went there on Friday October 18th, with my wife and kids , food was horrible, I had the mix grill the only thing on that plate that was good was my steak which was small , the chicken and pork were as dry as shoe leather , my wife and daughter had the paella for 2 the lobster tails where like a 1/2 once and tasted like nail polish remover . My friend and I had an excellent time and a leisurely tapas dinner before a concert. We were pleasantly surprised that they had happy hour on a sunday! Certain appetizers were half price and wines glasses were 50% off. Everything we tried was excellent. I had a very nice Rose, we tried the steak with chimichurri, the grilled calamari, meatballs, Caesar salad, and bacalao. Everything was excellent. Service was great. The service was fantastic and the food even better! Had parked outside of this restaurant last week, never saw it before, then made a reservation for the following week. Loved it. Just ok, nothing special. Coffee was like warm at best! None of the entrees were anything special. The paella was the best of the group.

We went with another couple. Shared the gnocchi, beef empanadas, beef tartare, garlic shrimp, croquettes and the classic paella for two. The gnocchi was good but very small for the price. We got two bottles of wine, but we felt the wine prices were very high. The waiters were very attentive. We had a good meal, but overall the prices are significantly more than Barcelona another favorite tapas spot of ours. read more

Went for a pre Kung Fu show dinner. The Sangria was mostly shaved ice- three or four sips and it was gonzo. And the lobster and avocado salad special- resting on a small bed of arugula - for $17.50- which i thought would be my dinner- was a portion of food so shockingly tiny that i can only describe it as an amount suitable for my cat- a 12 lb animal. I personally love dining at Tabalo, i first ate at the one in Norwalk. The food is amazing, they have a wide range of tapas giving everyone an option to enjoy. I like dining with my friends here because we all enjoy sharing and trying new food together while feeling comfortable in an elegant environment. I also prefer eating at local businesses like tablao, you can see the owners at work make sure that we're enjoying and having a good time giving us great hands on service. Meh. Noisy, packed in tables with no ambiance. The space has been rehashed so many times that this latest Iteration tired. Menu is nothing better than a Sysco truck dropping off pre-frozen briquettes. The rice balls were not balls at all- they looked like mini hotdogs with cheese whiz on top... I give Tablao a five star! their tapas are scrumptious! my favorite is the spinach dish! Their staff are super welcoming, friendly and fun! You must try their whipped drink!!! The food, service, ambiance in general is a 10/10! I love the fact that they have activities all week such as Tapas Tuesday, Monday Margarita, 50 off wine bottle Wednesdays and Sundays, Thursday Paella night and sometimes, flamenco shows, live dj over the weekend, live bands and BRUNCH!
