I stopped by on Sunday afternoon because I was itching for a real good chicken Parmesan. I wanted a cup of coffee while I waited, and the kind waitress apologized stating to be a few minutes as she wanted to make a new pot of coffee to provide me a fresh cup. No need to apologize as it's always worth waiting a few minutes for a fresh cup. When she bought out the coffee, the milk was a little bit curdled and I mentioned could she please bring me a fresh cup with new milk? She apologized several times and in the end wound up camping the cup of coffee and my Arnold Palmer drink and discounted the chicken Parmesan. This is the right way to run a restaurant. I will definitely be back. As far as the chicken Parmesan, it was absolutely delicious. What I like about it is the entire chicken is covered in mozzarella. Really enjoyed it. read more

I visited this Fairfield establishment for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. It was a beautiful and breezy day, so I chose to eat outside. I was in the mood for a quality pasta dish, although I would love to try their pizza. The outdoor dining area is quite large, and the inside is spacious and well docorated.. The tables were tastefully set. The entire restaurant was clean, including the restroom. I started off with a Moretti beer. I wanted to try the Bolognese egg rolls with vodka sauce. Lots of reviews about them. There were 4 eggrolls so this is a great app to share. They were very good, crunchy exterior and ample Bolognese and cheese. The vodka dipping sauce had a nice little kick to it. Brillliant idea. I then had the Fettuccine Alpha Romeo, with cream, egg yolk, pecorino, and panchetta; a cross between Carbonara and Alfredo, which is usually not my go to dish, but it sounded delectable. The portion was generous and the dish was rich and the pasta was al dente. I thought it could only have been improved upon by having the panchetta a tad crispy , but on second thought the way is is prepared is the way to go. Layers of flavor in this dish. Service was excellent, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. I loved the option to sit outside. Stopped in for lunch on a busy Saturday afternoon. The $15 lunch special was a ridiculously good value: in house made bread with ricotta herb, pizza sauce, and olive oil, a potato/leek muscles in butter AND a chicken cutlet Caesar salad sandwich. After several friends recommended this place, I stopped in with another friend for lunch. There is no lunch prix fixe. On their website it seems like that is a winter thing. Also if you want bread, it costs nine dollars. I ordered a delicious calamari fried Diablo with linguine and it was good, but I just want a little slice of bread and butter with it. I asked and I was told I would have to pay for it. My own lunch bill for one with the tip came to $30 and honestly I think they could've just given me a sliver of Italian bread and some butter for nothing. Been here about a dozen times, so this is an overall impression since they've opened. Def not a "been there once 5 star "shill/b.s." review. First, I like the place, salads are good, pizza is "ok", sorry but they're not 4/5 star great. Sure they mix things up and all, but they're just ok. Their rice balls are fabulous, as are their breads. As far as Bronx-style, not sure about that as my in laws are from da Bronx and I don't remember any Bronx-style pizza with cherry peppers. Anyways, as others have said the place is way too loud and when outdoor seating isn't an option, the inside is just awful. Sorry. You're better off going for lunch early/mid week. Speaking of lunch, they had an awesome pre-fixe lunch special, it was almost too good to be true. Alas they appear to have discontinued it, probably because they were losing money on each order. Having been frequent patrons of Sophie's sister restaurants: Sinclair and Malibu, we finally made our way to Sophie's. We had a reservation on a Friday evening, smack int he middle of happy hour. Great atmosphere in the bar and in the restaurant. Fantastic service. And the food was top notch! I had their specialty pizza and my daughter had a chicken parm sandwich. And when we told them her name is Sophie, she got complimentary desert of the most delicious gelato. We've gotten carry out twice from there since that visit, and can't wait to go back. Excellent! Great Pizza, Pasta and Eggplant. The portions are huge and delicious. Loved the vibe too! Windows were open to allow the summer breeze to come in. And the bar was crowded with folks enjoying themselves. Our waiter was also super accommodating we got there right before the kitchen closed and he took our order over the phone to get it in on time. I can't say enough good things about Sophie's. The vibe is nice, but not pretentious. Every time I've come, the service has been great and the food has been excellent. The calamari is top tier, and the vodka sauce served with it is a great touch. The chicken parm Bronx style was insanely good. Way too much to finish in one sitting (not complaining!) but the flavors are so good. I've often split a salad with someone else and those are really tasty as well. When it's warm outside, it's so nice sitting outside and enjoying a cocktail, but it's cozy inside during the winter too. One of my favorite places in town! read more

I absolutely love this place! We sat at the bar and just got drinks and the bartenders were amazing. We had a guy, Junior, and Nicole, who was training and they were both awesome- super friendly, had good recs, and overall fun staff. They had great recommendations for us and even made us some off-the-menu drinks. The environment was fantastic and not too too busy. We will definitely be back!!! Nestled in a nondescript strip mall off a main road, Sophie's could easily be mistaken for a place that only serves sad sandwiches and regrets. The atmosphere was so chill and relaxing that I half-expected a group of yoga practitioners to emerge from the kitchen, chanting "Om" while rolling out dough. The staff was professional and welcoming, with Vinnie, the bartender, being a standout of our experience. He informed us he was new to the restaurant, which was a bold move, considering he was already vibing like a seasoned pro. With a friendly grin that is inviting, Vinnie whipped up two drinks for us: a red sangria that tasted like summer vacation and a specialty Manhattan that could have convinced me to abandon all my other cocktail loyalties. Both were handcrafted masterpieces that seemed to sing in harmony with my taste buds. Now, onto the small plates! First up were the Bolognese egg rolls and Tuscan beans. A little insider info: Sophie's is a sister restaurant to Malibu's and Sinclair, both owned by the same entity. So if you find yourself in the area, you're in for a treat, and it's worth stepping off the beaten path to discover this gem in Fairfield, Connecticut. Went to Sophie's Pizza Bar recently and had a great experience. The pizza was really good, fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly, and the overall vibe was relaxed and welcoming. Cory at the host stand was fantastic. Super friendly, organized, and made us feel taken care of right away. Amos was our server and honestly made the night. He was attentive without hovering, knew the menu well, and had a great attitude the whole time. Food and value was really good. Service - not at all. Went during workweek lunch and they have amazing specials. I got the codfish and beans (was huge) and an onion pizza. It took around 10-15 minutes for the waiter to visit our table and ask for drink orders. Ordered food when we got drinks and then it took another 45-60 minutes to get our food. This is workday lunch! In total, I arrived at 12:15 and we finally checked out at 2:20! Good thing I have flexible work hours. Vibe was nice but music was a bit loud for conversation. Used to be our favorite restaurant. I would work all week, and come sundays for some pizza and a cocktail. Now you can't order a drink until you're 25 unless you have a CT ID . Unbelievable. If your a young man or women, you should absolutely boycott this place. Disappointing behavior. Also, the rule doesn't stop fake ids.... How about invest in a black box and scanner or have a qualified manager check ids . Also, the amount of grad dinners that will be moved to other locations is absurd.... Recently had a date night here with my pizza loving fiancé. Our resos were for 8:15pm. The place was hopping! We arrived a little early but didn't wait much past our reservation time. To start we had the bread service and fried mozzarella. The fried mootz was great! And the sauce was delicious. We also enjoyed the bread service which I think was just their pizza dough in bread form. It came with ricotta, pizza sauce and an evoo dip. My fiance opted for his plain cheese pizza. It came out with fresh mootz and a little saucy (he hates a lot of sauce) but he said he loved it because the sauce is so great. I had a bite and agreed! I opted for chicken saltimbocca which was perfectly cooked with such a declious sauce. Knocking off a star because the prices are pretty steep. $17 for a glass of Provence rose! Eeek. Went for Happy Hour, which they have M-F 3-6pm! This is the biggest selections of delicious small plates as well as half off wine, beer and spirits. The dining space consists of many booths and the pizza oven is showcased in the corner. The servers were very attentive despite it getting increasingly busy. But the pizza is not to be missed, esp the pepperoni with perfect size, crisp and meaty bite. The bolognese egg rolls are crisp yet chewy and hit so many rich, savory notes I order them every time. This is why we watch out diet and eat salads all the time... to enjoy things like these egg rolls now and again! Rest of the menu I've tried so far is tasty and fun, and good drinks from the bar. The owner comes up to me rudely and abruptly stops our meal and tells me to stop "playing with it" and comes over and rips it out of my hand.
