Went for lunch very early afternoon. I had high expectations yes, but I was also starved. When I'm hungry, I tend to be a little more forgiving. We started with crab chips, very nicely done chips with cream sauce and sparse bits of crab and green onion. Very salty, not very enjoyable. My wife had the mushroom soup which was rich, earthy and the best thing we ate. Her crab sandwich was also very good, but not exceptional. I had the "Good Ol Boy". Not very "good" at all. The "smoked" pork was bland and tasted like it had been prepared in a crock pot several days prior. The bacon on the sandwich was overdone and also tasted like it was reheated from the previous day. The sandwich also had ham and slaw. The whole thing swam in mayo. All in all, if I hadn't been so hungry, I would have left it on the plate. More potato chips that we're expertly cut and overseasoned, and fires that looked great but were pretty lackluster. So it was a pretty lame lunch for $50+ dollars. Service was slow for us being the only ones there, but our server was very nice. I don't complain because I don't believe it helps the situation. The place seems to be highly recommended, i can't foresee giving it another chance though. read more

Fantastic meal and customer service. Read the reviews here and was reassured as we ordered and listened to another couple rave about this restaurant. We were not disappointed. Crab bisque was excellent, seared scallops were perfect, crab rolls and crab cakes were also excellent with rich flavors and seasoning. We will be back on our many travels across Michigan. read more

Great food, but soooo pretentious for a small town eatery. "The Chef won't allow substitutions" is not what you should be hearing here.

My wife and I tried this place for the first time this past Thursday. We made a reservation which was highly recommended but when we got there the place wasn't even half full. They seated us at a small table for two next to the window which the sun was coming through. We asked to be seated at a larger table away from the window, but the hostess said she couldn't and just closed the blinds. I just assumed the larger tables were saved for parties of 4. The tables were never filled the whole time we were there. We started with the oysters which were creative and very good. We then shared a Caesar which was good. For our entrees my wife had the pan seared ahi tuna, which came highly recommended, and I had the salmon. My wife's ahi tuna was kind of tough, and seems like it was frozen and not fresh and kind of had a funky aftertaste. My wife couldn't finish it, and actually had an upset stomach later in the evening. My salmon was good and cooked perfectly. I asked for it medium rare and that's just the way it came. Both entrees came with asparagus and parmesan risotto which was good. Service was good, they actually got us in and out of there in under an hour. Overall experience was okay but we wouldn't rush back. And for the price it should knock your socks off. read more

A promising new addition to Ludington. Like the smaller menu with an interesting variety of starters, sandwiches, and entrees. We had the mussels, the crab cake sandwich, and the shrimp po boy sandwich. The mussels were a generous portion, however the sauce was heavily salted. We also noticed the crab cake sandwich also seemed to be heavy in salt too. I think it was a mistake in the kitchen. The po boy shrimp was cooked perfectly. The various breads for the sandwiches were also great. The kitchen seemed slow but I would consider that attributed to them working out the kinks of being newly opened. I am hoping they will have that worked out by the time we come back next year. I am anxious to try their shrimp and grits the next time. read more

If this restaurant was in NYC it would take months to get reservations, by far the top restaurant in ludington and probably one of the best in Michigan. I make it a point to visit every time I'm in town. The crab cakes are the best I've had outside of Baltimore, the shrimp and grits are incredible and the oyster po boy was as good as any I've had in New Orleans. read more

We recently had lunch here and enjoyed it a lot. The restaurant is small, hip but casual, nicely appointed but not posh (this is a relaxed resort town, after all), with a pleasant bar area. ( Craft cocktails are a signature item, but we did not partake; they also carry a small but interezting selection of beers on tap.) The menu might be best described as elevated Southern food (po' boys, buttermilk fried chicken), and bistro favorites like steak salad, with an occasional local twist -- whitefish po' boys and, on the day we visited, a bison burger on the chalkboard menu).. Our table went with the whitefish sandwiches and a crab cake ciabatta sandwich, with truffle fries and homemade potato chips on the side. Both sandwiches were delicious; the po' boys had a spicy but not overpowering aioli that was very good, and the crab cakes were perfectly seasoned and generously portioned. Our fries were a bit limp -- if you' re going to offer premium fries, double- fry them ' til they' re crispy), but that was our only real criticism of the food. We enjoyed the food, our beer and the relaxing ambiance ( unobtrusive blues over the sound system) . Be aware that this restaurant is a little spendier than most in town, and that, while there was a child at another table, it' s really more of a grownup atmosphere. read more

I made a 6:00 dinner reservation for July 5, 2018. When we arrived there were 4 reserved tables open. The hostess gave us the table right in front of the door.It was 90 plus degrees outside so every time the door opened sweltering air came in. I asked to be seated at one of the other reserved tables that were away from the door. The hostess firmly told me she couldn't do that. We stayed and tried to eat our meals but it was to hot. We perspired throughout our meals. We left at 6:45..not able to finish our pricey entrees. One of the reserved tables I asked to be seated at was still open. Two of the others were occupied. I never received a satisfactory answer as to why we couldn't have one of the other reserved tables. read more

I visited this restaurant with a group of friends based on the great reviews it received and we were all rewarded with an amazing experience. Everyone was pleased with their meal (there were six of us) and the service was great. The homemade chip appetizer--absolutely delish!! My experience here was as bad as you can imagine. Placed by a freezing window. Inability to order a bottle of wine because they were out at the time. The trotter steak was BLAND. No salt, I had to ask for SALT. (They implied that at good restaurants they do not need salt and pepper at their tables) I mentioned this to the waitress who was also the bar back and slow to wait on the tables. She mentioned this to the owner/chef and he ignored me. My wife mentioned that this meal could have been purchased at Ponderosa. instead we spent $90.00 on a terrible meal. Unfortunate that the front of the house could have handled this better too. If they had done something right to make the meal more enjoyable, but they either lacked the experience or knowledge to handle this. I will NOT be going back and I will not be giving them a positive recommendation to others. read more

Acceptable meal but nothing special making it a bit overpriced. Luddington is just not a great food town. Each dish had decent elements but then lack something or one not so good element destroying balance. Dishes chronically under seasoned with no salt or pepper out for use. read more

While I love this restaurant, I do wish the chef would respect the wishes of the guests. He refuses to serve tartar sauce, crackers with soup, and substitute side dishes. On our recent visit, our guest requested that the vegetable be omitted off his plate, and the request was denied as it "interfered with the presentation." If you're happy with everything on the menu "as is," this is the place for you. Just don't expect to have special requests acknowledged. read more

This is my new favorite restaurant in town. They say its southern style, and for sure there is a southern flare. I had the duck with the sweet tea sauce/marinade, and it was fabulous. Ive had duck all over the world and this might have been the best. Wish the rosemary lemonade vodka had been better, and dessert selections didn't tempt us enough, as we had a party at home with apps and drinks before coming in, so we weren't looking for the heaviest meal. The beet salad for starters was very nice and the risotto with the duck was excellent also. Two thumbs up! read more

The family has been coming up to Ludington, Michigan for over 50 years, and we typically eat at our tried and true favorite restaurants. Based on the other many positive reviews, we had to give Table 14 a try. We came in on a whim for lunch. Upon entering, you're greeted with such welcoming ambiance. Loved the decor as it was both friendly and inviting. We were quickly greeted and told to sit where we would like. The wait staff is very polite and knowledgeably answered our questions about the menu. We started with a bowl of the She Crab soup. It was some of the best that we've had. As our entree, we ordered the Fried Chicken BLT with fries and Shrimp Po' boy with the homemade chips. All I can say is outstanding. The fried chicken on the BLT was the perfect accompaniment as it was breaded lightly and tender. The bacon was thick and hearty. Loved the sauce on the BLT. The shrimp po' boy was another treasure that was non-greasy and lightly breaded. They also included a few extra shrimp on the side. Loved the upscale french fries and homemade potato chips. The presentation of the meals were very pleasing to the eye. We will definitely be back for dinner. read more

Camping in November at the state park and went to Table 14 for our 29th Anniversary. It was a little slow which may account for our service and meal being so good. We split a crab cake for an appetizer and it was excellent, as good as any I have had in Baltimore. For dinner I had the salmon. It was perfectly cooked, the risotto was very good, and the green beans were good; cooked with lots of bacon. My wife had the buttermilk fried chicken which she really liked. The garlic mashed potatoes were very good and the collard greens were swapped for green beans after my wife said to leave off the collard greens. The swap was a nice surprise as we had not expected it. For desert I ordered the crème brulee which was a fine finish to a very good meal. The food came out piping hot and I would guess as soon as it left the oven. We sat near the bar and my wife joined in on the movie trivia game the bartender and the wait staff were having (it was fairly slow) which was fun. One of the nicer anniversary dinners we have had.. read more
