They say it's a summer menu. Maybe just shut it down for the summer. Tuna nachos, mushy pickled onions and the nachos melted in your mouth like powder, really weird. Summer salad has this really weird, thick sauce on the bottom. The lettuce came brown, like it's old. Fries for the smash burgers were like styrofoam. Had a summer sangria, which tasted like tang orange juice. Crispy Chicken was so crispy that it was hard as a rock. Menu hade all apps, four entrees and three sandwiches. Went with 7 people. We had dinner here one night we were in town. Everything is just okay. Since there's limited options on the mountain, I guess the restaurants can get away with the lack of seasoning on everything. I had an 8oz filet which was cooked perfectly but just bland. It looked pretty but tasted average. The brussel sprouts were just fried, no flavor, no balsamic, nothing. Bland ! The green beans were drowned in garlic which saved them. Espresso martinis were good. The yellow fin tuna appetizer was decent and the crispy rice it was served on was tasty. A handful of mixed greens, two tiny slivers of squash, a sprinkle of red onion, disgusting dressing, and a quarter sized amount of cranberries. Little 2oz cup of goat cheese (which was the best part). Absolutely laughable. We ordered the tartufo flatbread and again, just bland. Didn't taste any truffle and it just wasn't great. We stopped at the Fire Tower for lunch and really enjoyed it. I had the Cheeseburger special served with fries and soup (French onion). My girlfriend had the flatbread. Went here for lunch over MLK weekend and went in right as it opened at 12:00 so we experienced no wait. My Wife and I sat at the bar. The atmosphere was nice and the bartender (I do not recall her name) was exceptionally friendly and helpful. For lunch we split the smash burger (5/5) - this was an exceptional burger with extremely good, high quality ingredients. The sauce was good with a little bit of spice.) She said her burger was cooked a little more than medium, but it still tasted good. I LOVED my honey chicken dish, it had just the right amount of sauce and a bunch of tasty and new veggies that I don't usually eat. I finished the whole thing, good sized portions! Came for a family vacation to Stratton. The wait staff, food, and cocktails were all good. The restaurant is always half empty for a reason. They refuse to accommodate any walk-ins. We had reservations, but finished skiing early with our three young children. We showed up 25 min early, and even though our table was ready and empty (as was the restaurant itself) they would not seat us until our reservation time. When you walk in, you are greeted by a MISERABLE HOSTESS and an even more RUDE MANAGER. Both are extraordinarily unaccommodating. I have been to a lot of restaurants and have NEVER been to a restaurant that treats its patrons as POORLY as this one. I HIGHLY SUGGEST GOING TO OTHER RESTAURANTS in the area. Do not order takeout from here. This restaurant is the only restaurant I've ever heard of that charges a 15% gratuity on takeout orders. I now know why this is known to be the best restaurant on the resort. Food was solid and sitting at a high table in the bar area suited us just fine. Vermont cheddar burgers (a good char on the patties if you like that), Caesar salad, steak chili and kids pepperoni flatbread pizza were all enjoyed by our family. I've been coming to Stratton for many years now and I must say that this is one of the most overpriced places in the mountain village. I got the vegetarian dish which was $24 for a bit of cabbage chopped up with ONE beyond meat sausage link on top. the cost Basis of the actual food in the plate was probably around $3. Within an hour of leaving I was already hungry again. The service was very good and the beer selection was great but the cost per value of food is absolutely atrocious even for a ski town. That being said my friends got the burger and fries for $16 and were happy with their meals. The food at Fire Tower cannot be beat; my meal Saturday night was perfection. We started by sharing the Churrasco Tamale (Pulled Beef Brisket, Chimichurri, Chipotle Aioli, Steamed Masa Cake, Salsa), which was a good sharing portion for two people. The brisket was so tender and well-seasoned -- I'd love to see it featured in a three-piece taco entree -- and all the flavors melded together for an oral fiesta. I ordered the Bacon Old Fashioned, which certainly carried a punch but was smoothed out by a drizzle of Vermont maple syrup. For my entree, I had the Mountain Primavera Lasagna (Pasta & Garden Vegetable Terrine, Fire Roasted Marinara, Hempseed Pesto, Yellow Pepper Coulis), which I was a little nervous about being a vegetarian option, but it was one of the best lasagnas I've ever had. It's not quite your traditional veggie lasagna, but I thought it was better and lighter. The yellow pepper coulis really stole the plate show. The portion size, in my opinion, is just right -- enough to satisfy but not to stuff. We capped off the meal by sharing the Lemon Pecan Crusted Cheesecake. I am not a fan of lemon desserts, but I could appreciate that this was well-executed and had more than a couple bites. It is definitely a lemon cheesecake with not much pecan flavor. Fire Tower is a beautiful, warm space, and I definitely favor the bar area or Porcupine Lounge over the main dining room for coziness and that real ski lodge feel. The service is a bit lackluster, especially for the price point. Four hostesses, and it was a challenge to get one's attention. There was clearly an open table, but they told us it could be a 45-minute wait. What?!? Our waiter was adequate but lacked personality and didn't fill water glasses from the bottle placed on the table. However, the food runners and cook who delivered our food were excellent! With somewhat limited dining options in the village, I'll definitely return to Fire Tower -- this Saturday actually -- as it is a great option for a nice apres-ski meal. read more
