I would rather not rate this place because they would not seat us. It was 5:30 and we walked in. And, there was only one of 20 tables being used. I will honestly say that we may not have been dressed appropriately. I was waring cargo shorts and my alumni shirt and took off my hat. When I said "two please." she asked if I made a reservation. After saying no, she then took 3 to 4 mins punching things into their computer. One of two thing happened. One, They really did not have time for us. Went here to share some food and drink our fill. There is rather limited beer selection. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I don't need 657 choices on tap. Just a handful of decent enough brews. There's wine list and full bar to accommodate any other booze needs as well. I found a couple suitable beer choices and felt I was on my way to pleasurable feeding fest. Nice atmosphere and service was great but the dishes on the whole seemed a bit lacking. The space gives off the vibe that we were treating ourselves to a fine meal but what was delivered to our table was lacking any truly good flavor. Nothing to really get upset over but really nothing to get excited about either. The calamari, trout pate and gnocchi were decent enough dishes. Appearance was a priority but the same care was not delivered to cooking the food. Soups were not exactly show stoppers either. The tomato basil seemed like spruced up canned marinara sauce. Corn chowder was served room temp and while I wanted to like it more, it was par for the course of this meal. Lacking any thing truly flavorful or memorable. I felt tricked. This place fooled me into thinking that I was in for a quality dining experience. Unfortunately the food couldn't follow up. There is nothing particularly disastrous going on here but there is nothing exciting, inspiring or even remotely delicious. With so many good options around, I doubt I will find my way back here. read more

Bottom line on top: Location = 5; Food=4, Ambiance=4, Service=3. Overall very good. Would I dine here again? Yes Would I recommend it to others? Yes. I dined here with my wife on a Saturday night @ 8:30pm (using OpenTable to make our reservation which worked quite well). I ordered the stone bass with soba noodles; my wife got the scallops with butternut squash. We shared our dishes and agreed that the stone bass was spectacular; 5 stars; would definitely order again -- whereas the scallops were a 3.5; OK, but nothing special; wouldn't order again. We both had salads and a glass of white wine, and thorougly enjoyed our respective choices. The dessert we shared (Michigan apple crumble) was nice, but we probably wouldn't order it again. Why not a 5-star rating? The service was noticeably the weakest link. It wasn't bad, per se, but certainly not what I would hope for and expect from a higher-end restaurant. Our server was clearly hustling, moving throughout the restaurant -- that is, he wasn't lazy. But he was very deadpan; no joie de vivre, no noticeable enthusiasm for his job and no apparent desire to ensure our positive experience. After he came to our table twice without introducing himself, I finally asked him his name; I shouldn't have had to do that (like "pulling teeth"). Because I believe pleasant and attentive service is such an integral and vital part of any dining experience (especially if this restaurant wants to compete with restaurants in, say, Birmingham or Ann Arbor), I'd encourage Table 5 to focus on providing better training for their servers. One of our fav restaurants in MI... Great food, friendly staff, good ambience. We eat there about once every week. Can't stay away. Their fish entrees are always good as is their wedge salad. My wife and I have been frequenting Table 5 since they opened. We typically start out at the bar with a wine or beer and then enjoy our dinner in the dining room. But lately, we have been staying at the bar to eat. Brain, the bartender is spectacular (he has been there since they opened - which says a lot about their management, because this guy I'm sure has options). The appetizers are unique and very tasty. We ate here for a bachelorette dinner and had an incredible experience. I've eaten at many nice restaurants in DFW, but I think the intimate service and size of the restaurant made this even better. Our waitress recommended so many things from appetizers, drinks to desserts. I love going out to eat and not having to make decisions, and she made such great ones for us! They also described their restaurant as a "scratch" kitchen which means they make everything there; and it was obvious when you tasted every dish. Recently met with a vendor of ours and a small group from my office for dinner and the food was fantastic. The trout pate' was incredible, and my meal, Panko Encrusted Halibut was delicious. The butter that came with the hot bread was also very good and interestingly flavored. Wait staff was very prompt and professional. Will go there again for sure. I wish I had made a reservation. It was a Tues night so I figured it couldn't be that busy. Wrong! Bar and restaurant both very busy. Sad. Had to wait. They must have had reservations because we saw tables at 7 but weren't seating us. Then like 15 mins later sat in that same empty table we saw earlier. Oh well. It was much more casual than dressy in my opinion so I felt over dressed? Service was great. Food was excellent. The scallops thanks to so many reviews were right on the mark. Perfectly cooked. Cheese and olive plate was just ok. Wish the crab app was still there from their menu on yelp. Boo alas it is not. Dessert I ordered the panna cotta. Yum yum yum! So perfect. Loved it. Unfortunately, we did not have a good food experience here. We live a mile away and have eaten at every restaurant in town, some multiple times, however it had been a few years since we tried Table 5. The prices are very high so it's not something we frequent. Last night we went with another couple and we were prepared to have it all! After we waited about 45 minutes for an outside table, which is fine we grabbed an app and drink at another restaurant (also bad experience: Bricks) The waiter was very nice as helpful, two of us ordered the Walleye special, on Halibut, and one brisket. It was WAY too salty! I tried to eat it but almost gagged and had to dispose of it in my napkin. The waiter sent it back and brought out Halibut for me, it was also too salty so I shared it with the table. My friend also had walleye and choked it down but agreed way too salty. The brisket was also too salty. It ruined and stole the flavor of the food for the fish and meat. We had drinks and two bottles of wine...$45 a bottle which we Vivino checked it and the bottle costs $13.99, which is obviously gouging the customer, our fault on that one. The cost of the meal, approximately $75 a person would not be a problem had we left there satisfied. Sadly, Table 5 is now on the never going back to again list. read more

Visited Table 5 for the second time last night (this time for just drinks and dessert) and again was thoroughly satisfied. We ordered some after dinner drinks and the Atwater Vanilla Java Porter waffle which was topped with a dollop of homemade caramel pretzel ice cream and a chocolate espresso sauce. There were several other things that I would imagine might have been equally good, so it was difficult to choose. The dinner menu is also very good. Last time we were here I ordered the brie fondue which was rich, as you might imagine, but totally worth it. We also got a little sample (which the waiter graciously let us try) of the cauliflower soup which was amazing. Since we ordered so much food, we decided to skip on getting a side of the soup. I appreciate this restaurant mostly because of the creativity of the food. It's so easy to run a restaurant with a menu that only provides the "same 'ol, same 'ol" which is really easy to get away with especially in downtowns like Plymouth and Northville where no one seems to get tired of traditional American "bar and grill" food. I feel that I need to thank Table 5 for trying to do something a little different -- especially like foodies like me. So, thanks! read more

I don't live in the area, but was visiting with a friend and I am so glad she suggested this place! If I am ever back in the area, I definitely want to go back! The service was very prompt and efficient, the atmosphere was upscale and the food was so good! I was even surprised by the prices; for as good as the food was, I was surprised they did not charge more. The only thing I was saddened by was that the menu online did not reflect the menu in the restaurant. The number one item on the online bar bites menu is peppadew poppers, but they were not on the menu. Instead I got the soup of the day and unfortunately I cannot remember what it was called, but it had potato and leek pureed and it was fabulous! I also ordered the hand cut fries (house made fries with parmesan-truffle aioli) and a roasted veggie salad (which is not on the online menu) that included arugula, butternut squash, beets and carrots. My friend ordered a salad with arugula, grapes and goat cheese and a beef small plate and the beef was so tender it melted in my mouth! They have what appeared to be a full bar, but I was disappointed that they did not have a cocktail menu. They do however, have a sizeable wine menu. read more

A really nice surprise. Not in northville much this was the suggestion of a friend. Everything was great. Service very nice and not obtrusive. Food was very good. Had steak with peppercorns. Well where to begin? I have been here many times in the last 2 years, I have gone the last 3 years in New Year's Eve with my wife, kind of a tradition. Last time however, I had a terrible experience. First off our reservations were for 830, so we arrived at about 815. Being the second couple in line you would think that we would be seated next... NOT THE CASE. 2 other parties came in after us and stated their reservations were for 830 and the manager/hostess proceed to seat these parties (4 top and 2 top) ahead of us... just not a fan of this even if they are bigger parties, made us feel unwelcome And rubbed me the wrong way. I asked to speak with the manager who seemed agitated with my concern, she tried to bribe me with a free drink before we ordered... I declined, and told her I didn't need a free drink just wanted to make her aware... our server then didn't have much interest in paying as much attention to us as he did his other tables. No bottle of water or bread for us until we asked and pointed out that all the tables around us already had theirs. The food was excellent and the only saving grace of this NYE... unfortunately the wife and I will be dining elsewhere this year! read more

It was good but not remarkable. My second visit. Our group all agreed that they need to change their menu. The food is ok to good. I had halibut I think and it was slightly overcooked. Took my wife here for her birthday. Staff was very friendly. The owner even came to our table to tell my wife Happy Birthday. Food was fantastic. My wife had the Panko Encrusted Halibut and I had the Grilled Scottish Salmon. The atmosphere was intimate, we actually hear each talk with quiet inside voices. Nice location on Main Street with ample parking in the back. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Decor regional, warm and comfortable, but bar is relatively tight (narrow) on right side of restaurant w/ a nice flatscreen or two. Dining tables are spaced adequately on left side and separated nicely from the bar and the sight & sound of its television. FOOD: -Appetizer: Salmon cakes. Plating and visual cues on all dishes is above average. Cakes were a tad dry and slightly undersized, but their texture and accompanying sauce were appealing. Would try a different starter on next trip. -Salads: Artisan butternut & Michigan wedge. Both exceptional and ample size. Would recommend both to all, and would like to try the caesar slaw. -Entrees: Ahi tuna sushi wrap special and Alaskan halibut. Personally thought tuna special was superior to halibut, but the flavor profile of the halibut w/ risotto was done very well. Overall impression of entrees is fine plating, good flavors, and well cooked. -Wine list: average w/ good price mix to suit all consumers. SERVICE: Above average. Taking care of your needs, but not overbearing. Food came out in timely manner and well made. VALUE: Dinner for 2 w/ app, salad, entree, and wine will easily top $100, but the quality of the food and service left me thinking it was money well spent. We will be back. read more

I had heard so many rave reviews about Table 5 that I was eager to eat there. I ordered the brisket and was very disappointed. The brisket was nicely seasoned and cooked, but the roasted broccoli was a mushy black mound underneath the meat. The Boursin potatoes were tiny little dice with no perceptible flavor, again hidden under the pile of brisket. The presentation looked like an unappetizing mound of black and brown stuff. On top of everything, I almost immediately started to experience heartburn. I didn't finish it. I hesitated in writing this review because I like to patronize small, local eateries, and don't mind paying well for a beautiful dinner. I don't think I'll ever go back. Maybe it was an off night. I also noticed that their menu lacks choices for patrons who are sensitive to gluten and dairy. The wine was very good. The service was excellent. read more

We chose Table 5 to celebrate our wedding anniversary based on the outstanding reviews this place received. It was a quiet Wednesday night, and they were featuring a 3-course $25 prix fixe menu that seemed like an excellent value, so we both decided to enjoy that. We also ordered a bottle of wine from a winery we had enjoyed visiting in Sonoma. The meal started with seared scallops with collard greens over a creamy sauce (very good) and phyllo dough pouches stuffed with duck and cauliflower and a balsamic reduction (just ok, although my husband liked it). Second course was a delicious corn chowder and a salad (which I found overly acidic with the dressing). The entree course was whitefish with pumpkin risotto and Brussel sprouts - very creamy and rich, which I found a little strange for a fish dish, but pretty good overall. The other entree was a lamb chop with wild rice and broccoli which seemed to be cooked medium at first but was very rare/raw closer to the bone and rather tough. About half of the dishes were quite good, but the other half seemed liked they could use some improvements. We were somewhat disappointed that even after mentioning it was our first time to the restaurant and our anniversary we were not offered a complimentary dessert - especially after a nearby table was offered one for a birthday. It would have been a nice gesture and encouraged us to come back. We ordered dessert anyway - a chocolate cheesecake that was very rich and a little too sweet for my liking. The restaurant is charming with great artwork on the exposed-brick walls. Service was slow even though there were very few tables occupied. We will probably come back to give it another chance at some point since we live nearby, but we weren't overly impressed by the food and service. read more
