I don't ever throw the race card down, but either the staff is racist or they only give high quality service to the majority white regulars (ie we ordered our drinks before the couple next to us even sat down, the waitress brings their drink first and even takes their order first). It was slow and our food was sub par. They were super chatty with a lot of the patrons, and seemed to forget to check on us or bring us our check. My son's hamburger was super dry. For a high end restaurant to mess up a simple kids slider to the point where my son who eats pretty much everything refuses it, well you can pretty much guess the quality. This place is outstanding! I was headed to Downtown Northville and asked a resident for a restaurant suggestion and this was it. The decor was great, service was good, drinks were yummy and the food was excellent. All and all, I love this place and highly recommend it! And as a side note, Downtown Northville is a hidden gem. Went for dinner on a Friday night. No reservations, and the place was full, but we were seated right away. Waitstaff was helpful and courteous. Able to answer questions on the wine list. We shared the mussels. They were excellent, and the sauce complimented the bread as well. I then had the halibut, and it was amazing. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Out of town business trip to Plymouth, decided to check out Northville on a co-worker's suggestion. Yelped a place to eat and this came up. Based on current reviews I was going to skip it, but I walked by and it was packed so I decided to give it a try. So glad I did! Lots of obvious regulars at the bar. Had small plates. Service was top notch, heirloom salad was fresh and delish. Bread came piping hot w 2 homemade butters. Devoured the first one. Wasn't really interested in the cherry vanilla butter but I'm game to taste it Wow! Incredibly interesting - want to try to make it. Beef tips in bourbon cream sauce was fantastic and tender. Fries were cooked perfectly tho a little heavy on the pepper. I'll be back for sure next trip. This place does not deserve the recent negative reviews. Asked for the special porter house steak and was told they were out, so asked to substitute sweet potato (on menu) for white potato and was told I couldn't. This place is solid. Very decent prices for high quality food. I got the salmon which was tender although I didn't care for the glaze they used... I prefer my meats savory over sweet. The important thing is that they knew to undercook the salmon for tenderness, so many places botch that. The butternut squash soup was decent, and the chocolate custard was wonderful. Overall, it's cheaper than Bacco's in Southfield or Toasted Oak in Novi, and certainly way faster service than Cafe Muse in Royal Oak, so I will definitely be visiting again. read more

My fiancee and I just recently dined at Table 5 for the first time. We had a wonderful server who really knew the menu forwards and backwards and provided an incredible experience for us. The decor is upscale, the menu is a bit on the creative side which we both enjoyed, and they have a nice wine list with some interesting selections by the glass and half bottle. I'm always a fan of restaurants which offer a nice selection of wines by the glass and half bottle as it makes it much easier for my fiance and I to order wines we will both enjoy as our tastes in wine differ significantly. I had the scallops, they were amazing. My fiancee had the duck, also cooked perfectly. The only thing I did not care for was the coffee after the meal, it seemed pretty bland and weak and wasn't a great way to end our otherwise great experience. We will be back. read more

I don't know what to think about this place. There were high spots and low. My husband and I enjoyed our drinks from the bartender who was friendly enough (although didn't look you in the eye while speaking to you- strange.) However, as a long time restaurant manager, I have a hard time sitting at a rail staring at an unorganized back bar filled with the staffs personal affects, kleenex boxes, paper work and a totally trashed service well. It was a Saturday night and they were busy but not so busy to excuse this level of mess. We moved on to our dinner in the dining room and had a knowledgeable, friendly waitress. She made helpful suggestions and then informed us that they were out of the features for the evening. Really!? It was 730 on a Saturday night. I understanding not wanting to over order but you should be able to make it thru the majority of your service without having to 86 a feature. I decided on the scallops which were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. My husbands halibut was coated in a seasoned batter but the fish itself was not. The meat was very bland. Overall, I am sure we will be back. I will hope for more exciting options on the menu and a little more attention paid to the overall tidiness. Pet Peeve Sidenote: I can't stand when servers (female no less) hand the bill to the man. It is doubly irritating after a card has been placed in the check presenter with a woman's name on it and they still hand it back to the man. Rude. read more

The food was great. Visited them on Feb 07. Was overcharged - they charged us for an entree we did not have . Called them on Feb 9 or 10 and spoke to the Manager about the wrong charge. She promised to reverse it and call back. The following week left a voicemail. Have also messaged them on Facebook. Nothing. Sorry Table 5 but you have really gone downhill. After a great experience and a 5 star review, I've had two extremely frustrating visits, one last year and one last night. We had the same server on both occasions. Last night he was more concerned about having to turn on the air conditioning every 15 minutes (as he told us about 5 times) then making sure that his tables were taken care of. Cheese plate was meh - came with a handful of crackers, no French bread or anything. The butter that they served with the dinner rolls was gross - it was a flavored garlic butter which you think would be tasty - but not this. The rolls were hard and flavorless. Mussells were disappointing, not swimming in any type of delicious broth - actually quite dry. We also ordered the filet - which was a 6 oz cut for over $32 - it should be perfect. Medium rare came out medium well and the scallop dish was only mediocre. The rice was coconut flavored but colored green - not really appetizing. When we told the server we were not satisfied he did offer to take it off the bill which we did but did not go above or beyond to try and repair the bad tastes in our mouths. Went here on a Thursday evening, and had apps at the bar. Some things were really good, some things were ok. The mussels were actually really really good, some of the best i've had, and i almost wanted to drink the sauce it was soaking in. The spicy sweet potato fries were spot on, with a little kick. Inhaled the generous portion. My wife really liked the white fish pate, but i thought it was passable. Finally, we both agreed that the tuna tacos were not bad, but forgettable. Came in for a holiday dinner with my parents last night. They were able to seat us a little bit ahead of our reservation. Our waiter, William, was fantastic! The food was all delicious. We started out with the shrimp and a cheese and olive tray. The cheese plate had an amazing fig compote that went well with the cheeses, but was great all on its own. We got a wide array of dishes: pork chop, pot roast, salmon and ruby trout. They were all fantastic. The pot roast was fall-apart tender and very flavorful. The trout was served with a cheesy orzo that was creamy and fluffy. There was nothing left of the salmon or pork chop (literally - clean plates) so I think that says how tasty they were. Back to our waiter - he was friendly, helpful and honest. There was a mix up with our appetizers and we didn't get them until after the soups, but William was easy to communicate with. We even had a pleasant conversation with him in regards to his study of genetics which most at our table also have background in. My only regret is not getting a dessert... but now I have another reason to come back! Nicely done, Table 5! read more

Restaurant seating is a little limited so you would be wise to make a reservation. We tried a number of dishes; tuna, scallops, filet mignon, grilled chicken, whatever else. We tried this place a few times years ago and couldn't get past the flavors--they were either absent or oddly combined in ways that just didn't work. This week we decided to give them another try. The upshot: not much has changed. Drinks and dessert worked, but the rest of the meal was mixed. First, the pros: Dinner started with excellent cocktails, especially my pecan old-fashioned. The pecan vodka with muddled orange and cherries was easily the highlight of the meal. For dessert, the caramel sauce over date cake was well done, though the cake itself was a little dry. The chocolate pot de creme had a lovely bitterness that kept it from being cloying, though it lacked the deep richness we've had elsewhere. The rest of the meal was spotty. Our salads were surprisingly bland, especially mine. There were apparently bits of pear and nuts in there, but they were too tiny to provide any taste, and the dressing was bland and oily. For entrees, I had the duck breast, which was tender but over-salted. The side of kimchee mac & cheese was interesting if an odd pairing with the duck. My husband had the panko-encrusted halibut, which was less successful. The fish was dry and tough and came wrapped in a hard tube of a bland cracker crust. This was the low point of the meal. Finally, the decaf coffee we had with dessert tasted stale, like the coffee pot needed a good cleaning or something. That hasn't changed from our last visit. We would come here again for drinks (the bar was quite busy while we were there). But for salads and entrees, especially seafood, Table 5 has a lot of work to do to catch up to similarly priced restaurants like Aqua in Plymouth. It still feels like they're coasting on their location and either don't understand flavor or just don't care that much about their food. read more

Called earlier in the week to make a reservation I was lied to by two employees saying that if I called the day of at 4pm I would get a table. Call just like they said just to find our they were all booked. What terrible buisness practice. Not taking reservation until the day of is a disservice to your customers. I don't want other people to believe people that work there and try to plan out a night for dinner when you will be disappointed and left with no plans. Proportioned nicely and cooked perfectly. Hubby says the halibut was "awesome, really very good" and it changed his opinion after the salad incident. His portion was correctly sized as well. My wife and I visited Table 5 for the first time on a Wednesday evening. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and T5 was great! I had made a reservation using Open Table, and we were given a table right away. Our waiter was timely, friendly, and was knowledgeable with the menu. Our meal consisted of calamari for the appetizer, entrees were lamb chops and walleye. Dessert was a combination peach and blueberry pie. The food was the star of the show and the portion sizes seemed perfect. We were in the restaurant for 1.5 hours. I would recommend Table 5 if you are looking for quiet and relaxing dinner with high quality food. The patio also looks to be a popular spot on nice weather days. Negatives: Difficult to park car near the door because T5 does not have a dedicated parking lot. Street parking was limited so we needed to park in the structure behind the restaurant. Had a reservation and got seated right away. William was our server. EVERYTHING WE ORDERED WAS FANTASTIC. Okay. That is done. This review is more about William. I have written in many reviews that service is a big part of all dining experiences. William made our dining experience just that...an experience. He was, pleasant, professional, talkative, conversational, attentive, polite, funny, and in the case of a small appetizer snafu, very apologetic. He was the kind of server that I love to have. I like being able to talk and be a little jokey. I do not like stuffy meals even if the restaurant is 4 or 5 stars. Table 5 has always been a favorite restaurant, so it was our logical first choice for hosting a rehearsal dinner for our son and his beautiful bride last weekend. EVERYTHING exceeded our expectations...the staff was incredible, the food was equally incredible, the service and bar service were outstanding and we received compliments from one or more people at each table throughout the night about the quality of the food, atmosphere and service. The dishes at Table 5 are unique but not overly fussy--just different enough to stand out, but pleasing to everyone and certainly fit for foodies. The appetizers were a huge hit, especially the chickpea fritters and the potsticker ravioli. And I am looking forward to my next trip to Northville in a few months just to have a repeat order of the halibut, which is a signature dish at Table 5. Oh, and there just isn't enough room here for me to rave about the desserts. Needless to say, we were fans before...but now we are HUGE fans. Oh what a night! After having some drinks and watching a Tiger's game we strolled around town looking for a place to eat. We had always wanted to try Table 5 so we thought we would give it a shot. It was a beautiful Saturday night. We were seated outside immediately and quickly greeted by our waitress. She was very friendly and our orders came quick. This review is long overdue. I visited Table 5 around late August as a treat to myself. I left happy, full, and impressed. It's a little louder than I would have liked, kind of small, and the service (while efficient and familiar with the menu) isn't all that "warm". However, what they DO well here is the food - exceptionally. I'm not sure they can do anything wrong. Every item I ordered was better and better. I began with the kale salad (my server suggested), which I completely cleared. The entree I ordered was a scallop dish. It was complimented with a blend of noodles and wasabi vegetables (I can't recall all that was with it, but it was good). The combination was divine. I highly recommend this dish, although I think it may be a seasonal thing. Not to fear if that is no longer on the menu, as everything I tried was great. For dessert, I decided to choose between a dessert martini or dessert - I couldn't - so I chose both. I had the chocolate banana martini (which tasted just as it sounds - heaven!) and a rhubarb dish that was unlike anything I have had in other establishments. I am partial to rhubarb though and consider it most under-appreciated... but that really blew my mind. I could not have anticipated a better time. The crowd around me was also pleasant. We were the first table sat and we're third to be greeted by a server. Kinda put a bad taste in my mouth. When I asked about champagne since we were celebrating our 5 yr anniversary she kept cutting me off, but was knowledgable about the wines. Our water carafe was empty towards the end if dinner and she didn't refill it or fill our glasses as is seen done at other tables. And lastly, I enjoy black pepper, especially cracked black pepper on a salad. I was going to ask for some since it wasn't on the table but she left before I could. I then saw another server offer it to another sable during the salad course. We also weren't told the specials for the evening nor the soup. However, she was knowledgable about the menu and had fantastic suggestions. The food was amazing and that's all that mattered. If you're just looking for a drink or something small to eat, there are a few tables in addition to the bar in the front area. Here, you can order "bar bites," which range from cheese and crackers to scallops. If you sit at a table, there is a larger menu with some amazing, creative dishes.
