SO! Preface this by saying this has been a favorite restaurant of my family for a long time. The quality of the food has gone down so much in the last year it's crazy. I get times are hard and Alex has two buildings at the moment, but they are literally throwing gristle scraps in their soups. This is my favorite soup and order it every time I go. (Mostly to go orders) The last two times, I have been so grossed out by the film of grease on the top and all of these floating white pieces. ITS all fat. This is how much there was in one single bowl (and I did stir it up before dishing it out) every single piece of meat was 80% fat, and tons of lovely floater pieces on the top. Decent food but they charge $1.75 for a tiny cup of garlic sauce. I spend $40+ on shawarmas and now I have to pay $1.75 for one tiny cup of garlic sauce?? This place is nuts. Garlic sauce is the key ingredient in shawarmas and Mediterranean food in general. The blonde girl at the front told its free for customers who sit and eat in but not for carry out orders apparently. Ordered a meal and appetizer. Was told 25 mins. Picked up 20 mins was already done. Then the bread that comes with the appetizer was not in order was told to wait a couple mins. 8 mins later bread was done. Food is now cold. Talked to Manager/Owner says food is fine just reheat it..... I said that's not what should be going on here. He then says wait my friend I give you 20% off next order instead of correcting this and then hangs up phone. Worst service I've ever seen. It's my favorite restaurant as you can see in my previous review. Today got an entree of chicken ghallaba and a fattoush salad. The salad had no onions in it. Which takes away from the taste. The lettuce also was not fresh. Alot of brown spot on the lettuce. I always get the same entree. The seasoning in the chicken ghallaba is starting to taste different which is disappointing. The last time i came which was about a week ago i had the same problem. Maybe there is a different cook. He is definitely not putting one ingredient that has always been in there. It taste very bland now. There was also hardly any vegetables. I'm not excited about going back again will not drive and waste my gas. I love Middle Eastern food. This should be my favorite place in Grand Blanc, but it always disappoints me. There are better places that will fulfill my cravings and I am willing to drive farther for better. The food here for me has been okay at best, and portions and service are seldom up to my expectations. Salty majadra, dry rice, brown salad. I had a falafel platter served with two small pieces that I though was one piece cut in half. I even had salmon once that was unapologetically serve extra crispy and very dry. I hope the best for their move to the new location. But I will wait, and then wait some more. Watching for 4 and 5 star ratings. Not just from the one time out-of-towners, but the local folks who keep coming back. Even then if I do return I will likely not convince my family to join me. read more

But while I was waiting I noticed some things: The place was extremely dirty with black mold on the floors and clear lack of owner caring. Giving this place a three star review as they removed my one star review. I left my one star a couple of years ago and was recently told that businesses can remove it if it's less than 3 stars which apparently is true. So have fun trying to delete this one. We just had dinner at the brand new location in Grand Blanc and wow! It is so nice! Great style,crisp and clean colors and aesthetic. The staff was fanatic and the manager or owner (not sure which he was) was so friendly and funny. They have a beautiful side room with a long table that can be requested ( for FREE!) for a dinner party. And they have seating in the front of the restaurant and a ton of seating in the back. The whole back space can also be reserved for a large party for FREE! I was very Impressed by everything and of course my Fattosh salad was amazing as was my deboned chicken,pilaf and grilled veg. Open 8 years looks like a start up that just opened! Why ? Clearly the owner or boss who's walking around in a dirty white apron serving tables no way !! No need. Plus staff isn't happy clearly we know why ie the boss. The food is what is expected at Taboon since there are several, it could be a gem as nothing like it in the area. Horrible customer service. Very rude and disrespectful. Received the incorrect pickup order and didn't notice until I was at home which is 30 minutes away. I called to let them know and was told it was my fault that they took down the incorrect name. Then he told me to drive it back and when I told him I could not he then said I should be happy to have received the food I did because it was worth more than what I had ordered which was not true. I then called the man an a-hole and hung up. My wife called back a few minutes later to see if she could rectify the situation and he told her that she should be ashamed of her husband and then he hung up on us. This was some of the worst customer service I have ever received. We will be charging the purchase back. read more

It's a hit or miss with this restaurant as far as service goes. Some of the waitstaff will go above a beyond the call of duty and a few of them are just awful. The food is almost always 99.9% outstanding but it's the poor servers that knock it down to a 3 otherwise I'd give it a 5 . Get rid of the bad waitstaff and your customers would enjoy your restaurant a whole lot better...... Keep the waiter he's awesome!!!! read more

We live far away in a place with NO Middle Eastern dining (can you imagine?) and CRAVE this place! Frequently our first stop when in town. Toum and bread are always excellent. I usually get either the hummus and chicken or the shish tawook sandwich with rice - both great choices. The lemonade is also amazing. The only thing that kept me from giving this restaurant ONE star was the courteous service.. This is my second experience with this restaurant and no fault of the restaurant, the food selections are just not my cup of tea. I ordered a greek salad which I thought would be pretty safe. The ingredients were all fresh but alas I did not like the dressing which is the key to a great Greek salad. I loved the bread but was also not fond of either of the dipping choices for the bread.
