What an absolute hidden gem. We arrived about 30 minutes before opening by accident, and instead of turning us away, Ivan welcomed us in so kindly and let us sit down early. That alone set the tone for an amazing experience. The service was incredibly courteous and thoughtful -- they kept checking in on us and even surprised my friend with a few pieces of baklava for dessert, which was such a sweet and unexpected gesture. The food was fantastic -- truly authentic and full of flavor. You can really taste the culture and richness in every dish. Everything we tried was delicious, and the whole experience just felt warm and genuine. This place does such an excellent job, and it feels like one of those spots not enough people know about yet. We will absolutely be coming back. Highly recommend if you're looking for authentic food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

We looooove Taboon! My husband and I typically get Chicken Shawarma and ask for extra pickles. The garlic sauce is delicious!! The meat is always perfectly cooked, the 2 types of rice is delicious, and you just can't go wrong here. And the wait time on your food is not very long at all. My only thing I'd say is, add a hint more lemon in the hummus. But we love it here, quick, delicious, generous portions, plenty of seating and a neighborhood joint!

We recently dined at Taboon Mediterranean when we were craving for some mediterranean food. It was a working day night but the restaurant was almost empty and the ambience wasn't very inviting. We were seated inside and were looking down another inside room with some chairs in a store room. Ambience was definitely a bid let down in that regard ! Service was good, our server gave some good recommendations and food arrived on time. We got Chicken Shawarma : which was OK. Did not appreciate few cartilage pieces in the plate. Mixed Plate was again average , Lamb was quite mushy and lacked flavor. I am big on my cola drinks and If a restaurant cannot get their Pepsi/Cokes right , its a big let down for me. I got Diet Pepsi it tasted funny. I could tell it came out of their fountain dispenser but it had a wierd taste and that killed my experience ! I am giving them an extra 1 star for good service and appreciated their sauces and pickles and salads that came with the plate - but I will not return.

Sandwiched between two sessions of chiropractic adjustments with Dr. Ward, I picked this lunch spot because Mediterranean food is always a welcome healthy choice for my partner and Taboon happened to be open, has great reviews and not too far from the clinic. We were the first customers of the restaurant when we arrived at a tad over 11am and sat on the patio on this beatiful Saturday (12/29) morning. We each ordered an item which we will share. She picked the mountainous Greek Salad and I, the Lamb Kabab Wrap with the meat cooked Medium. Having your meat cooked per your preference is an option that is not so common at Mediterranean or Middle Eastern restaurants, so this is a welcome surprise! Biting into this 'Greek burrito' with its thin wrap instantaneously brought my pearly whites in the center of a large chunk of tender lamb. It was so good that I can't help myself from making 'Mmm, mmm' sounds after a few chews. Tha salad too was satisfying, especially with its numerous black olives - I ate every single one of them! We accompanied our meal with hot black tea with mint leaves. The place was beautifully decorated according to its dishes of origin...the hanging oval celiing lights are pretty and caught my eye. The marble-lined restrooms are clean and roomy. The service: prompt. The price: just right! The verdict: added to my favorites!

Love that they have great seating indoors and some outdoor seating where you can people watch. Excellent customer service. The staff was mindful and helpful in letting me know which meats are dairy free. He even made it a point to address the garlic spread have egg whites. That was sweet! Food was excellent! They prolly by far, have the best hummus i've ever had. The meat is very tasty without it being too seasoned. Will def bookmark!

This was my second visit to Taboon Mediterranean. I was excited to recommend it for a group outing and everyone loved it! To go as located in the heart of Bixby Knolls. There is plenty of street parking. I made reservation reservations since it was New Year's Eve and I was running about five minutes behind and called the restaurant to let them know. They were very friendly and told my guests had already arrived. They have an amazing lemon, mint water. It is a must try! I had a salmon and spicy hummus, cooked perfectly and served well. The waitress was flexible as they mentioned to her. I had some dietary elements and I appreciated her compassion. Everyone at my table, enjoyed their food and said they would return. This is definitely a restaurant that I will continuously return and bring More guest too. The food is fresh and delicious. I will say that, try to come as early as possible, I noticed as it gets closer to closing, the staff is a little rushed to get you out the door.

The food is delicious. Chicken kebab is juicy and tender on the inside while nicely charred on the outside. Rice is spiced nicely and the pickled goodies are a nice touch. Hummus is delicious. Also, Arabic coffee with Cardamom is the bomb dot com.

Went on a Monday night so it was fairly empty. Friendly staff & explained food items when we asked about a few. Food taste is comparable to other Mediterranean restaurants. We ordered the "family meal for 3-5 people" for the 4 of us. Plenty of food & we had left overs. I appreciated the waitress explaining what is included & what items will cost extra. We celebrated birthdays & took a cake. They kept it refrigerated & brought it out with plates & a cake knife when we asked after our meal. My friends came from farn& they enjoyed the meal.

Came here with friends and enjoyed a lovely time over delicious food. I wasn't too hungry so I had a light bite of a kefta kabob & a small side of grape leaves. Great flavor and well-made. Very satisfying. I will definitely come back to try more off the menu. Service was friendly and attentive. Interior is clean, simple, and charming. Street parking was a bit tough on a friday night but very doable.

    Delicious pistachio ice-cream! A must order! @ojbaylen

I keep forgetting how good the food is here! It's been a while but glad we came in last night for our team appreciation dinner. Service and food were great! We need to frequent this palace again more often. (Just a side note, please update your hours on Yelp--they really close at 8pm--wished they were open later!) We did "family-style" and shared everything. To top of the yummy dinner was the pistachio ice-cream! Delicious! It can accommodate big groups too, like our Team from St. Barnabas! Can't wait to come back again!

It's easy to pick up on the fact that this is a favorite local spot, with the owner and staff immediately recognizing several patrons by name upon arrival (I was envious! lol) The wine selection is impressive, and they have a simple menu of a few Sammie's, salads, and appetizers such as cheese boards, baked pretzel, and other items. Along with my glass of Malbec, I enjoyed a cheese board and quite possibly the BEST Caesar salad with chicken I've had in a decade or more! Dietrich was tending bar, and while not extremely well versed in wines (which he admitted openly), he was knowledgeable enough to pull solid suggestions based on your taste/preference. He was warm and friendly (and busy!). The owner was present the whole evening as well, and though I tried to engage, he didn't seem very interested in making chat with a non-regular like me lol. (It's ok!) There was a guitarist, which added vibes, but mostly just noise...his speakers were very loud, and the selection felt a little out of place. I would've stayed longer than the hour I did, if the music were a little lower and enjoyable (maybe jazz or something?). Maybe there'll be a different musician the next time I visit...I WILL be back!

Incredible knowledge and ingredients but not snooty patootie. Super inclusive and fun, with cool popups and events happening all the time. It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

They specialize in natural wines, thoughtfully and selectively curated since they're not a winery themselves. The selection offers great variety, and because seating is limited, it's very much a first-come, first-served situation, arrive early if you want a seat. There's some indoor seating, with more available outside. The wine servers were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable, which made the experience even better. They also host food vendors. There is a sushi spot right next door which is conveniently located next to the theater where you can score discounted bottles if you're catching a movie. Wines rotate as they sell out, so if you fall in love with one, do yourself a favor and grab a bottle before it's gone.

Thunderbolt Pizza in Long Beach has become my go-to pizzeria. After trying a wide range of their…read moremenu, two dishes stand out above the rest: the Pizza Margherita and the Garlic Knots. Pizza Margherita - 5/5. This is a perfect example of the care and craft that go into their food. The crust strikes a rare balance - it has that signature leopard-spotted char and slight floppiness you'd expect from a Neapolitan-style pizza, but also delivers the chewiness and airy structure of a great New York-style slice. It never tips too far into being overly crispy or dry. What really sets it apart, though, is the sauce. While many pizzerias treat sauce as an afterthought, Thunderbolt clearly does not. Their tomato sauce is rich, vibrant, and juicy, with a depth of flavor that avoids being overly acidic, salty, or tannic. It enhances the pizza beautifully without overshadowing the dough, which is exactly how it should be. Garlic Knots - 5/5. - Easily some of the best I've had anywhere in LA. These are essentially bread rolls with a super chewy interior and a thin, lightly crusty exterior, served alongside their excellent marinara sauce. They're incredibly satisfying and consistently a crowd favorite. I've brought visitors from Japan, Germany, and New York, and every single one of them couldn't stop talking about these knots. My only small critique is that I wish they had used fresh garlic instead of canned, which would have taken them to an even higher level. Still, even as they are, they're outstanding. Overall, Thunderbolt Pizza delivers thoughtful, high-quality food that stands out in a crowded pizza scene. It's the kind of place you keep coming back to--not just because it's good, but because it's consistently memorable.
