Checked out this place upon recommendation from a friend. We ordered the butter chicken, shrimp biryani, garlic naan, and a mango lassi. Everything was really good, and the mild spice level was perfect. It had enough of a kick to remind you it's Indian food without being overpowering, so you can actually enjoy all the flavors. They also gave us a complimentary sample of their new menu item, Royal Chicken, which was a nice surprise and tasted great too. The staff was friendly and checked on us often (we visited on Saturday for dinner and there were only a couple of other customers). Pretty dimly lit, but wasn't a problem. If you're looking for solid Indian food in Long Beach, I'd definitely recommend giving Royal Indian Curry House a try. read more

Heard a lot of about this place including the history of the woman and family who own it as well as their culinary reputation from their original location so needless to say that I have been dying to try them out and I was not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious, we ordered the Butter Chicken and Lamb Tikka Masala with a side of Basmati Rice accompanied with Garlic Naan and Mango Lassi. Mild spice level and flavors were on point and everything was cooked to perfection. Service was pretty friendly and the inside was clean and had a very calm setting. Well, tonight was an Indian food craving night. So, we decided to tray a relatively new place on Pine Ave., Royal Indian Curry House. Walking in the front door, we were VERY happily surprised to be greeted by Babblit (Bubbly). Her and her husband Amarjit used to own the Indian place on 2nd. But they sold it and moved away. At that point, we KNEW the food was going to be good so, we ordered.... A lot!! The food was great!! The service was fantastic and 'Bubbly) checked in with us often. First of all, I was so happy when I heard there's a new Indian place opening in downtown LB, and it sounded like people already knew the quality of their food even before they opened. Well they're not wrong. I've only been ordering pick-ups from this place, but it's been pretty frequent! It's such a great great comfort food to me. I've only tried their lamb biryani, chicken biryani, and tikka masala. Everything is delicious! But man, my favorite is definitely the biryani. I always ordered them spicy, it's the perfect amount of spiciness to me! Either lamb or chicken, you can't go wrong. I usually favor lamb more, but this time I tried their chicken biryani and it's just as tasty. They're very generous in the biryani portion and the meat chunks. Their pickup service has also been very fast! Like I mentioned, I've never dined in with them, but one day I will. The ambiance looks nice inside. Keep up the great work! Learned about this new spot recently and being a nut for Indian food I added it to my list of places to try. It did not disappoint - the food was amazing! I ordered the butter chicken with garlic naan and ate every bite. My only constructive critique is the prices are just a little too expensive for the portion size. Nothing outrageous; but maybe $3 or so more than what I'd consider reasonable. Again nothing crazy, but something I noticed. Service staff were very friendly and attentive. RICH couldn't be a more fitting acronym for this new hot Indian restaurant in DTLB. I've passed by a couple times when they weren't open and finally got to try it out. Hubby and I were able to walk in without reservations on a Sunday evening and got seated right away. There are about 12 tables and a few seats at the bar. I'm obsessed with the purple and green chairs with gold trim against the brick accent wall. Romantic dim lighting in the evening and cool Indian hip hop playing to set the vibe. Toran, our server, turned out to be one of the co-owners, along with his brother and father. The father greeted us first, took our order and made some good recs. They have a nice selection of Indian beer, international and California wines as well as lassi, chai and soda. For a small restaurant, they have a mighty menu with all the pakora, tandoori, curry, biryani and naan any heart desires. I wanted to try a little of everything but for just 2 of us, we were limited. Paneer Tikka Masala ($19) triangular paneer cheese slices in a creamy tomato based sauce was rich and smooth. Butter Chicken ($21) the pieces of chicken were marinated in a red sauce before being simmered in the buttery stew of yogurt, tomatoes and spices. Medium level spice, but it still had a sweet aftertaste. I felt the love put into this dish. They went so well with the Jeera Rice ($7) seasoned with ghee and toasted cumin seeds and the incredibly soft and chewy Chili Garlic Naan ($5), which had plenty of garlic and not too much chili. We ordered the Lamb Biryani ($22) to-go and I had to dig in as soon as they brought it to us. Omg this was so addictive! Loved the spices and they put a good amount of lamb in it too. I was literally dancing in my seat and couldn't stop eating until I hit a wall. The plating, dishes, service and ambience were so effortlessly perfect. We were excited to try Royal Indian Curry House and it did not disappoint. Service was really good; despite being down a server. Interior is very cute and was full most of the time we were there. We tried the Mixed Veg Pakora which came with 2 sauces - delicious. We are big fans of Lamb Korma. The lamb was so tender, we loved it! The Saag Paneer was yummy and who doesn't love Naan!!! RICH is a true gem that's landed on Pine Ave. This was my first time dining here and instantly knew I'll a repeat guest. The ambiance is warm and inviting, fun colors, and a lil romantic. Came in for dinner on Saturday around 6:30pm. There was no street parking so we parked at a public parking at the corner- 2 hrs for $5. As soon as we opened the door we were able to smell delicious food! The inside is very chic and we were greeted immediately. Table for three was available, great customer service and very clean atmosphere. This was our first time eating Indian food and we made the right choice! We ordered Buttery chicken(mild), it was on the spicy side. Soft chicken and great flavor. Tiki Masala was really good as well, not as spicy. Jeera rice, very flavorful and soft. We also ordered samosas, lots of flavor and herbs. Garlic naan was so good as well! Thin and crispy. The thing I can probably compare it to is an empanada. We also tried the rice pudding! Came back, our 2nd visit in a week. Brought a good friend with us. We tried a few different dishes and all were just as amazing as the first trip. The Paneer Biryani is now a favorite. The Butter Chicken is decadent and full of flavor. My wife had the Vindaloo I believe its called, it was quite spicy, she was struggling to eat it but she did. Said it was good but a bit too spicy for her liking. Now she knows Indian spicy is definitely different than any spice shes used to. We didnt have Bubby as our waitress this time, but the nephew helped us. He was quite friendly and checked in on us often. My friend and I came in on Sunday at 8:00 for dinner as first timers. We were sat and greeted swiftly! Our server was very personable and guided us on some of his favorites. I just did take out for the first time. Cute place interior. Good vibes. I walked in and ordered the Lamb Briyani. Soo flavorful and light, but spicy at medium! I won't go above that grade. They also added (no charge) some of their rice pudding dessert, Kheer. Delish. I love rice pudding and this was a perfect finish to the spicy entree. They do have beer, wine, and champagne offerings but you can bring in a bottle for a reasonable corkage fee ($11). Had an absolutely fantastic 1st experience here yesterday. As an Indian myself (who loves to cook family recipes at home), the flavor and quality of the dishes were the absolute perfect combination of tradition and gourmet cuisine. I have struggled for 30 years to find a good Indian restaurant in America (the Indian food in the UK is superior) but to my surprise this actually topped any of the England restaurants I've been to! The service was amazing, we met the owners and they are so sweet! I will definitely be returning, could not recommend a better Indian restaurant in SoCal! You can tell they are having a great experience and they've done a wonderful job with how nicely laid out the restaurant is and it seems to be a family that owns an operates this restaurant and you can tell there is plenty of love. Downtown LBC just got an awesome new Indian restaurant! I've lived here 12 years and any time we wanted Indian food, we had to jump into the car. Finally we have a high quality Indian restaurant in downtown that we can walk to! This was my first time having indian food, so i just tried the basics. Samosas, butter chicken, and garlic naan. They were all phenomenal, not too spicy compared to what i've been led to believe about indian cuisine, but it was all very well seasoned and flavorful. The butter chicken was particularly rich with yogurt and tart tomatoes. Beyond the food the service was excellent with multiple friendly and attentive people waiting on through the meal. I'm not local but I would be happy to come again and I will definitely be getting indian cuisine much more regularly read more
