It fell to me to organize a memorial gathering for my friend. I felt the weight of responsibility over this...obviously, many things could go wrong. I had never worked with Taborspace before. What if they give the room by mistake to someone else? What if they forget to provide the coffee? What if they don't have enough chairs? On and on I worried and worried...but in the end they did everything absolutely PERFECTLY and my worrying was for no reason. The price for the room was very reasonable. I'm grateful, because I just couldn't host the gathering at my house---Taborspace was an ideal solution. I highly recommend their event services. read more

Love this coffeeshop! Such a cool setting, and since I have a toddler, it's a godsend. It's the only place I've found that serves good coffee, has a big play area for kids, and still maintains the feel of a hipster coffeeshop instead of digressing to a McDonalds playplace with coffee. I recently returned to Taborspace after a few years and I was really sad to see how it has deviated from its original intentions. The barista was very condescending and rude, like one of those stereotypical hipsters in IFC's Portlandia episodes - and only to find out later that he is now the boss training others to become a barista! Seriously. Coffee really is awful now, and since it is now publicly advertised as a barista training school, it is expected that students screw up every once in a while or very often. Yet, the prices are overinflated (yup, it appears that Taborspace's alleged commitment to "economic justice" is gone -- making handsome money using free labor of "students" who are getting training from a rude and inept barista "trainer"!) in comparison with all the neighborhood for-profit gigs. They seem to justify this by claiming that they buy the best quality supplies, but who cares? Taborspace now acts like just another commercial event center, rather than a neighborhood community space. They let anyone with money rent a space in a *church* doing all sorts of un-Christian activities like Buddhist meditation, UFO discussion groups, and yoga, lots of yoga. The only silver lining is that now the church is required to pay property taxes! Anyway, I really don't recommend this place if you're looking for decent coffee at a reasonable price. Taborspace now fails to deliver on both words: decent, and reasonable. read more

Very cool place! Was hunting for an interesting coffee shop and this was perfect! Coffee was good, staff was great, and atmosphere was out of this world. It's located in an old church with really pretty architecture and stained glass windows. Plus there is a large room with tables that would be perfect to study or catch up with friends. big large but nice room filled with tables and booths. great atmosphere, would be a good place to go if you like the vibes of a collegiate library or something similar. peaceful, but not a ton of lighting if that's something you need. there are really beautiful stained glass windows though, those are great. read more

What a find - a great facility for kids, a cute cafe that's also a nice quiet place to come and read or work at the right time of day.

I love the coffee at TaborSpace. It's probably because it is from Ristretto Roasters, which is my favorite. The baristas always do a great job on my latte. The pastries are also good. I can't remember what bakery they are from. As one poster said, it can get loud with children sometimes. But as a mom of two young children, it's just nice to have somewhere to go that has room for children. There are far more coffee shops in Portland that cater to adults only, but I can count on one hand the coffee shops that allow me to sit and have some coffee with my friends, while my kids play. I also love the fact that TaborSpace is donation based, so if you can't afford to pay full-price, you could still come and enjoy. All the baristas are volunteers, and I applaud them for giving their time to the church and to the community. I think it's great that the church is opening it's doors to the community because it's a beautiful historic part of the city. read more

TaborSpace provided great rooms, an awesome deal for our non-profit's conference and wonderful employees and volunteers.

Love the concept of this community space. Very welcoming, a great place to hang, and lots of folks do with their laptops. Kid friendly, with a little play area. Comfy cushy chairs, in addition to regular ones around tables. The friendly baristas are all volunteers, so they deserve generous tips. Tip: if you want your cappuccino, mocha or hot chocolate HOT, specify that. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop. I come here with my son throughout the week. Everyone is so kind, they have THE BEST chai in the city, kids are welcome and have two play areas indoors, music weekday mornings and a play ground outside. Just can't say what a lifesaver this place has been! Met so many nice family's coming here so my son can play. read more

Had my first visit at TaborSpace today. My daughter's friend from preschool mom suggested that we have a playdate here. Basic coffee and backed goods fare offered, but also on a donation basis. Nice big sitting area and a little play area for children. Feels welcoming. read more

If you like bitter, watered-down coffee, then TaborSpace has the beans for you! Two varieties, in fact, that taste equally terrible! When I tasted this "coffee" I was truly disappointed. And they don't stand behind the product they sell either, because if you ask them to fix it they just charge you for a new drink! (Btw, the espresso tastes just as awful as the drip.) Granted, the charge is only a suggestion, but they stare at you, repeat the "suggested price," and eye the cash box very expectantly so you feel like scum for leaving anything less than the full fare. The setting and play area are nice, but not enough to lure me into coming back. Sorry, dudes. read more

They've just added a keyboard lesson lab at Vibe of Portland, which is housed at TaborSpace. If you're interested in learning to play, or having your kid get into an affordable group lesson program, classes are going to start next week. read more

A nice cafe with nice people. The space is big, has ample plugs, is kid-friendly (that might be a plus or a minus for you), and overall the inside (as the inside of a church) is pretty and a cozy environment. Tabor Space is a great place to have a reception or function. Great "Portland" vibe with very nice traditional and comfortable vintage furnishings inside. A fireplace and beautiful stainglass windows accentuate the decor, and an espresso bar with GREAT coffee highlights the atmosphere. Highly recommended for any event you may have - can accomodate 100 people I would guess. read more
