I had always wanted to try good coffee as I pass by it often. I finally decided to take the leap after reading a pleasant review of their strawberry matcha. Their shop is very curated and is definitely has a "recently here because of gentrification vibe." However, I know it's been in Portland for a while and locals swear by it. With shops like these I find it easy to focus and work. The minimalist and industrial decor is a great place for adhd brains like mine. I was warmly greeted by someone at the register. I was interested in so many choices on their matcha. Horchata iced coffe, orange latte, strawberry Ube matcha. I asked the barista if they do exchanges or remakes for drink if the customer dislikes what they ordered. She mentioned they have a NO REMAKES policy. I knew it was time to lock in instead of trying something Willynilly. She was super patient with me as I wondered what to get and discussed my hesitations. She let me sample a tiny amount of the strawberry uber syrup and lavender to make my decision and it helped. I ended up getting and iced lavender matcha and didn't regret it at all. It's been hard for me to find good matcha in Portland and they didn't disappoint. The syrup was blended in well. The flavor of the matcha wasn't too grassy, bitter or powdery. I'm sad it's a seasonal drink because I'll Miss it. I also got an almond croissant, which was good but not mind blowing. I think I'll try the banana bread next time. They have a bathroom, 1 booth, bench seating and wall seating. It would be a bit of a challenge to bring a group larger than 3 here as they're small and busy. Maybe if you sat outside. I've been here many many times and loved it every time. The spring horchata latte is amazing. Perfectly flavored and not overly sweet. The coffee is very smooth and creamy. It does melt very quickly if you don't drink it fast enough. There is lots of seating open inside and out. The garage door opens as well to let light and air in. Parking can be tricky. Great neighborhood coffee shop! Division has some of my favorite coffee shops in town, and Good Coffee certainly adds to that. They have a curated selection of seasonal drinks along with their staple menu showcasing espresso and tea. They also have pastries from Tanaka, another great local Japanese eatery. The seasonal menu changes every quarter highlighting innovative lattes and teas that can't be missed. I tried their smoked caradmon assam latte and it was delicious! I love cardamon and the assam tea flavor brought a hint of "earthy-ness" to the warm spices. It was a great spring drink. I also got a kabocha squash danish and that was delicious! Flaky and savory, it was the perfect pairing for my drink. You can't go wrong at Good Coffee, and I love coming here to study or just to take a quiet morning to myself. The cutest little coffee shop in Portland! We stumbled across this coffee shop as we were on the waitlist for brunch across the street. The barista was so kind, helping us by explaining the flavors and offering alternatives to the preset menu. We ordered 2 drinks from the seasonal menu -- the Iced Matcha Lavender and Cherry Chili Cacao Latte. We got both with oat milk. They were both delicious! Despite the chili in the latte, it wasn't burn your mouth spicy, which was great! But it had a gentle kick. The matcha and lavender fused together really well and neither overpowered the other. There is lots of natural light from the floor to ceiling windows, and additional lamps as well! Would be a super cute spot to work in. We quickly found free street parking. read more

Great spot for nice warm cups of coffee and tea! I also was social chatting with a regular customer while I was waiting for my tea and they have mentioned that the muffins were very delicious, and it looks they were very popular- did not try them myself, at least not yet! The coffee shop has great seating areas, and nice music. The only thing I would recommend to the management team is maybe have more power outlets around the seated area. Also it has nice lighting. I wanted to like this place so much. The ambiance was really cute and the customer service was good. But, unfortunately, the beverages fell very short. I got a matcha latte and I'm not sure there was any matcha... it's was an extremely pale green like hardly any green at all. It tasted more like steamed milk than anything, sadly. My partner got the seasonal fig latte and as amazing as that sounded it tasted like a watered down americano more than anything. Super disappointed. Had much higher hopes. I am a sucker for cute coffee shops, and this is definitely one of them! This place has a lot of big windows with natural lighting. There are several tables, which makes it great for those who need to study. And each table has a cute little plant decor on it. This was my first visit here, and I was greeted immediately upon walking in. I felt very welcomed here, and the baristas were prepared to answer any questions I had. Not just good coffee, great coffee. Coffee was delicious, interior was welcoming and incredibly well decorated. I had an iced Vanilla Latte and it was probably the best I've had in Portland so far. Very yummy. They've done a fantastic job reopening with new standards for COVID, they have little foot markings on the floor for you to know where to line up and how much to distance yourself. Everything is take-out only which is awesome. Everyone was wearing masks. Service was very friendly and helpful and I was super happy with my experience here. Service was fast, had a lavender latte that was very enjoyable. It's small inside but has just enough space to spend some time.

This is based on my experience with the cold brew. I ordered a 16 oz cold brew for $3.75 and immediately regretted not getting the matcha lavender latte. The cold brew is very mellow and slightly sour. It tastes a bit weak to me. I'm drinking this undiluted. I imagine milk would only make this drink more bland. The space is nice and has a mix of tables and counter seating. Lots of people tapping away on laptops. The music is a bit loud so I think I'll be leaving as soon as I finish my drink. read more

The service was friendly and quick and while our kouign-amann was overdone, our almond croissant was quite tasty, and my mint tea was amazing. Probably the best I've ever had. This was my absolute favorite coffee shop I visited in Portland. While driving to dinner, we saw this place and knew we had to come back based on how cute it was inside! The decor is seriously perfect. The baristas are friendly. There is a plethora of options to choose from for latte flavors. I settled for a normal vanilla one but I seriously need to go back and try all the other options! I love that there seems to be seasonal flavors as well. I love this area of Portland, as there are a lot of boutique, restaurant, and dessert options. And I mean, what more could you want? This cute shop is the definition of those Portland coffee shops. The baristas here are friendly and were also nice enough to talk to my dad about coffee culture. The coffee here is great and the environment is cozy. There is no free wifi here or that I know of and there is only street parking for this shop. I ordered a simple latte b/c me and my brother were going coffee shop hopping and needed something light. The latte was good and the ambiance here is perfect. A great way to start your morning is at Good Coffee. They have a very chill vibe with the comfort of a modern coffee shop. The decor is bright, simple, and very cute. I love the indoor plants on the table (great for Instagram) and the Maple Smoked Orange Latte. This is a wonderful place to get in a good read, finish up some work, study or catch up your with pals. We've also tried their Orange Maple and Matcha Lavender. The Orange Maple is delish! Can't really taste the orange but it's still really tasty. Matcha Lavender is alright, don't think I'll order it again. More matcha than lavender BUT if you love matcha, you may dig it. I tried it out because I love lavender lattes. I am not a diva about my coffee. I take it black for the most part. If I'm in Italy or I'm feeling extra fancy stateside, I'll have a cappuccino on occasion. Other than that, I'm pretty plain Jane. When I realized that my AirBnB was just up the street from Good Coffee, I remembered that I was really into the Smoked Orange Maple latte that I had at their other location last year. This concoction is not messing around. It may sound froufrou, but it is super delicious, and even my caffeinated dark soul can handle a little bit of fun in my coffee. And the Smoked Orange Maple latte is fun in a cup, and not too sweet. I enjoyed pretending that I lived here for five days, and that Good Coffee was my own neighborhood cafe. The baristas are all very friendly, with questions about what my day looked like, recommendations for local good eats, and authentic casual convos. Lovely space too, design focused without being austere, and a warm respite from the rain. I'll stick to my basic brews and splurge again on this tasty treat next time I'm in PDX. read more

Oh wow, I guess it's been a while since I've given a review so I might as well update it. Still the same stuff. Same environment where 90% of the people look hip but don't let it intimidate you. As an overwhelmed, frazzled, frumpy mama, I've always found that the people at the counter act with grace and have a legit welcoming attitude. They could easily be stuck-up given that they work at a hip place that actually makes good beans. But they're not! Hopefully they keep hiring the same kind of people. As for the coffee, it's the same thing. Still good. The only thing I wish is that they would keep certain coffee making supplies for the home (like aeropress filters and such) in case we need any at the last minute. I'd rather support them and buy it there than at the store. Other than that, still a great place. read more
