They serve Stumptown coffee primarily I believe, and also have a variety of teas and pastries. It's been open here since 1997 which is pretty impressive. They have a second location on Mississippi. Stopped in for a mocha and an onion bagel with cream cheese while I waited for someone. Nice staff, mocha was made perfectly. Giving 4 stars because they could spruce up the place a bit. It's a small area but they could give it a little more life. Looks a bit run down. Maybe add some plants or something. read more

Stop #7 - On "The One Day Portland Adventure" TLDR - This coffee shop is high quality, with minimal seating. I needed this stop. Not only was the coffee super tasty, but the day of adventure was becoming a little abstract. But what stop was this? Did it count as a separate stop since it was technically inside Powell's? Either way, it was a welcome interlude after the first 6 stops of the day. - - - - I had to put on my earphones to avoid the break up conversation happening next to me. (I am totally not kidding). The decaf iced americano was delicious. Vibrant. Nutty. Great water to espresso ratio. Furthermore, this was a perfect place to sit and plan my next adventure place. I noticed that there was a theater across the street that was showing movies, but I worried that if I didn't keep moving, I might get sleepy. The lady at a previous business had recommended I check out Mount Tabor. So armed with Yelp and Google maps I decided to check out how far away it was. Since there was a plethora of lime, scooters and lots of neighborhoods between the coffee shop and the park, I decided that it would be my next stop. I enjoyed the special of the day (chai I think) it was tasty - the cafe is a little cramped - people walking "on top" of others to get their table or to pick up their drink. On this particular day, the rain was relentless. Heavier than usual. I popped into The Fresh Pot for a hot beverage to warm me up.

Amazing! AMAZING!!! Coffee and pastries wow!! I am a coffee connoisseur! This has been one of my favorite coffee shops I've ever tried in my life. I stayed in Portland for a few days with my boyfriend and was very determined to find a great shop and that I did! The lattes were so smooth and well balanced with no bitter aftertaste! Perfect sweetness and very bold! I also ordered a bag of their house coffee beans and boy was that a great idea! It pulled almost the exact same beautiful shots out of my Breville Espresso machine and tasted just like the cafe's latte. Also ordered a jalepeno and cheddar scone with the Marionberry pop tart (10/10)! The pop tart melted in your mouth. Please give this cafe a try if you are in town. :) read more

everything here tastes really good but for some reason no matter what you say the coffee is always lukewarm at best. i think it might have the coldest cup of jo in the city. its right by my house and its almost as if every time i go back they heat it to a slightly lower and lower temperature. i'm convinced one day the temperature will sink so low that the coffee will become iced. i'm scared actually. read more

I was in need of a quick caffeine fix this past weekend and just wanted straight espresso. I love that the barista at Fresh Pot refused to sell me a three-shot espresso to go. She insisted on me taking my espresso in chinaware, the way espresso is supposed to be drunk. I also loved how she preheated my espresso cup with a little hot water before pouring in the espresso. The true rich flavor of coffee, like I experienced with Fresh Pot's Stumptown beans, can only be appreciated as espresso, not drenched in latte, mocha or capuccino. read more

What does a person who does not drink coffee have any business being in a coffee shop? Well, to be honest Fresh Pot is attached to Powell's Books, so that is a good start. But, even though I do not partake in the beverage that makes 99.9995% of Portland function in the mornings, there are still items one can get and in my case that happens to be hot chocolate. Most coffee shops tend to have hot chocolate on their menu, but several phone it in while others like Stumptown use Woodblock and New Seasons uses Holy Kakow, Jim & Patty's does a mean Mexican hot chocolate and Starbucks (even though most think of it as evil) does a white hot chocolate that I have never seen at any other place at all. So, I've made my rounds. Fresh Pot, as said above, is part of Powell's and I had time to kill before work. The barista asked for my level of chocolate on a 1-10 scale. Funny. So I replied that my level would be CHOCOLATE. For only $3. It was as good as advertised (if it were advertised). The hot chocolate was killer. It was up there with some of the good ones and reasonably priced. I didn't catch what sort of chocolate was used but it's rich. If you are a hot chocolate type of individual than Fresh Pot is place you will deem appropriate to get your daily dose of Vitamin CHOCOLATE. Enjoy. read more

This is a cute little coffee place inside of Powell's. I ordered a chocolate bread but it was so dry and flavorless. Alongside of that I also had a chai tea which was okay. Let me just say, this place is awesome. It was my last day in Portland, it was raining, and we wanted a cup of hot chocolate before it was time to head to the airport. Three options: Peet's, Starbucks, or Fresh Pot. Clearly, we chose Fresh Pot. The barista took her time (in the best way) making our hot chocolates with love and created the cutest designs with chocolate sauce. I, of course, took photos and posted them to yelp immediately. I was looking for a caffeine fix while I was on Hawthorne with some friends, and Fresh Pot popped up on my search. Great choice! Genuinely friendly staff, and Stumptown Coffee is always a win in my book. Since it's connected to Powell's, it had a pretty quiet scene - everybody was either reading or on their computers. In other words, great place to read or study, not a great place to carry on a conversation like I was trying to do. Sorry neighbors! Actually, in regards to studying, the place is more dim than I would like, so I probably wouldn't try to read for too long here, but laptop stuff would be great! read more

Great place to stop by in the winter season. The sever was nice and also makes a very good coffee. I got mocha and the art made by him was very cute. The coffee was good with no acidity and good crema. Service was quick and friendly. The music was quite good and we enjoyed the atmosphere. After we browsed Powell's and bought some holiday cards. I got a honey lavender latte, hemp milk, with a CBD shot. Legitimately the best latte I think I've ever had and I was a barista for years.

Good music and tasty quality tea (same found at Palio's Dessert House) made for a good Saturday night study spot. I really like the Scarlet tea, a tangy red herbal brew, and Fire, a biting ginger brew. Stays open until 11 on Saturday unlike other coffee shops that close around dinner time. Woo! read more

One of my oldest haunts. It's a great place to camp out with a laptop or book, and a one of the cheaper cafes I've found in Portland. An in-house coffee (Stumptown) runs $2.25 and comes with a refill. Baristas are friendly and play good tunes. It can be tricky getting a table, as there aren't too many, but most people are happy to share theirs while you wait for your own. They're also open late (like Powell's), which isn't common among Portland cafes. read more

Pretty cool place. Basically Starbucks but more pretentious (in a good way!) and a little more expensive. Granted, their coffee does tastes like they care more than Starbucks and they also have more non-dairy options than just soy which is nice. They also have gluten free baked goods which was awesome!!
