For the purposes of this review, please note my rating 3.5 stars. The space is cozy and inviting with decent number of seats. The two-tops are fairly snug together so it can feel like you're eavesdropping or being listened to. There's counter seating along one side which had some refreshing morning sun- when a couple seats opened up there, we moved and were very comfy. There are a couple of cozy chairs in the front window and some additional counter and lounge seating in an adjoining room. The drink quality and presentation were high quality and delicious. The cost of a 12oz latte ($7) with no special milk was higher than other cafes I've been to recently around Portland including places that create their own syrups for specialty drinks of the month. That said, I don't begrudge the cost of a masterfully hand-crafted, drinkable cup of art and that is exactly what I received. I think the cost stuck in my head because the welcome did not feel particularly warm at the register. They were having an animated conversation with the barista and I couldn't help but feel like we were inconveniencing them by saying good morning and trying to order. When we picked up our orders, the barista was warm and friendly. Overall, it's a delightful spot in an equally lovely neighborhood. read more

Wallflower is a cute coffee shop on Division and 31st. They've got a 70s-ish vibe with a Latinx flair. There is lots of seating, but also a lot of people doing work from the café so it can get busy with folks reading, chatting, studying, on their laptops. I got their seasonal special - the Café de Olla - as well as a day-old bagel with salmon schmear cream cheese. It was great. Looks like they switch out their specials a couple times a year. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Lately they've been doing fun events like a latte art , speed dating, pop-ups from different bakers or wine makers. read more

Coffee was delicious, with homemade hazelnut. Service was fantastic as well. My only gripe is asking for it to be a bit sweeter and they charged me for an extra squeeze of their sauce. It's a little shop in the bottom of a an apartment complex, it's super cute with comfy seating, made me want to move to the building. read more

Nice little place. My black coffee and my wife's cardamom latte were tasty and I was happy with the quality and preparation of the Spielman bagel. Nice seats along the windows. Cozy. My only beef, really, was the contempt with which we were served. Maybe too strong a word? Perhaps disdain, disinterested? Everyone has an off day, I suppose. The barista was super friendly, though. For hospitality, drinks, and Yummy Pastries, this was a hit! It was nice meeting the employees. They were patient with my drink order. I was hungry, and there were only a few pastries today, but they were getting ready to close. One of the best iced lattes I've had in a while and they make all of their syrups in house. It's really hard to find a good chocolate syrup that isn't from one of the big brands. I really dislike most of those. The problem today was the volume of the stereo. It's really cool when a shop is playing records, but it was way too loud and thumpy. read more

In the prior Dapper and Wise location, I'm glad to see another coffee shop occupy the space! Division has its fair share of great coffee and Wallflower will make my next coffee venture decision all the much harder! They have their own beans and offer seasonal specials with housemade syrups. I got their lame canary latte - pear, plum, rosemary + clove with oatmilk. I couldn't really taste the flavors per say, but it had an overall profile of sweet, spiced fall drink. It was cozy and warm. They also have a wide array of tea selections and a few select pastries. There is plenty of seating for getting some work done and there is also a fireplace in the adjoining room! Perfect for a relaxing afternoon in the Portland winter. SE Division is one of my favorite food and coffee streets in Portland, and Wallflower will for sure keep me coming back! read more

My friend and I had some great coffee here. I had an iced hazelnut latte with their house made hazelnut sauce and it was so good. It had the perfect touch of sweetness and the best hazelnut flavor. I loved it. The coffee shop was on the smaller side but was cozy and had some seating available. It was a little loud at times, due, I think, to the size of the shop. Wallflower's vibes is ON POINT! Really sticking to the groovy hippy theme, the atmosphere emulates the chill vibes of the 60s - from their pastel colorways to their often recurring flower motif. They do a great job of creating a very relaxed place for their customers. It is a great place to grab a cup of coffee on a weekend, but also perfect for a more serious 9-5 business day meeting. The owners not only did a great job with the space, but also with their drinks. I love their specialty drinks! They are creative and their ingredients match the season. They are also very community oriented and often have specials that are geared towards promoting the common good of the businesses and people around them. Groovy! read more

The inside of this place was so freakin cute. A lot of people were working, which I think makes the perfect space. There was a fireplace and prefect music to enjoy your drink and get stuff done. I got a seasonal matcha latte, it was pretty good and loved that it was different. I don't think I'd order it again but the fun is trying new flavors. I asked the worker a few questions about the menu, but seemed like they didn't know much -- but totally fine, I think its a chill place (get your coffee and go!). Wow! I didn't realize I hadn't left a review yet! So here goes: Beautiful, welcoming, cozy atmosphere + wonderful coffee = quintessential PDX Coffeeshop experience. The first thing that really caught my eye was the wallpaper...which is so randomly specific but, if you've been before, you know just what I mean! The warm browns and oranges really contribute to making the place feel so calm and comforting. The baristas are friendly and give you 100% of their attention as you order...providing recommendations, personal favorites, answering questions, etc I've had both their espresso-based drinks and drip before. I usually judge coffeeshops - first - by their drip/base espresso/pourover (if they have it!), because if they're able to make the humble coffee drinks shine (i.e. without all the fixings and sugar), you know they're doing something right! That being said...they're doing it right! Everything is brewed well to extract max flavor and texture. Have been here a few times now and love this chill place to get some work done. Great coffee menu but their matcha isn't something I'd order again. Like other reviews have mentioned, their matcha is poorly executed. It's generally not whisked well and great matcha to milk ratio. The result is a light greean milk with barely matcha flavor. For loose leave tea, I wish I'd have gotten a kettle. The guy spent 1-2 mins to brew to tea and there wasn't much flavor. I'd stick to what they do well and that's coffee read more

My sister and I got 2, 12 oz iced matcha lattes and it cost $11. This price is pretty normal for specialty coffee shop matcha.... However, the matcha was whisked very poorly. The matcha all settled to the bottom in chunks. As I drank the latte (which tasted like milk over ice), I would get chunks of matcha stuck to my tongue and teeth. They have the potential to be a great shop and they seem to serve high quality matcha, the baristas just need to get the whisking down... The owner was bummed about my experience and was so kind and accommodating, he reached out to me via Yelp and refunded my sister and I's drinks and apologized for the quality of our matchas. Huge bummer. I hope they're reading this because I wanted to love our new neighborhood coffee spot. I really did. I am a cappuccino hound, so that's my order. Oh man, it was so bad. The barista clearly had no idea what they were doing. No microfoam, just big bubbly flat milk sitting in a pool of sour espresso. Even the shot wasn't pulled right. Again, I want to like the place because it's all we have now on division and I'm a local who craves a good coffee outside the house sometimes. But it was bitterly disappointing. I'll try again some time. Maybe next time the barista will be better, pay more attention to detail and maybe the owners will give them some much needed training. read more

Service is decent but this place is pretty underwhelming. There is little seating and lots of people that come here to work on their laptops or live in the apartments attached so you can rarely catch a seat. The matcha is pretty bad, drinkable but just that, had to add a ton of sweetener to make it taste decent. I got the "Never own a house" avo toast which the bread and glaze itself was good but it was shabbily thrown together, very little avo and was not mashed, and it was super hard to eat even with a fork and knife. Another friend came in and said it was some of the worst coffee they'd had. Save yourself and just go to Upper Left or Nossa Familia where there is actually craftsmanship put into everything and you can actually have a seat. read more
