Came in for a quick drink on a slow post-holiday day. Beautiful bar that feels spacious and luxurious with big couches for sitting and smaller tables. Our bartender/waitress was good checking up on us a few times. Used the bathroom but it was not properly stocked. They also gave a decent happy hour menu. The men's bathroom stall has no lock on it so anyone can accidentally walk in while you are doing your business. Very little TP too. No additional rolls to be found. Thank goodness there was just enough. No soap in the soap dispenser. That's about it. Honestly just a small issue I would have never known about if I didn't have to use the restroom. Despite the bathroom issue, I would come back and recommend this place to others.

What a great addition to the downtown area! We had just experienced the wonderfulness that Forbes was for lunch and was really craving a cool and refreshing cocktail, upon a trusty Yelp search, hubs came up with Tabu! And to our delight, it was open!!! (It was only 1230 pm) We found parking across the street and hurried in. We were the only ones there and I can only assume because they had just opened. We were quickly greeted and handed menus. We told him that we were there for cocktails and he was happy to explain anything that we might have questions on. I went for and Angel Azul and the hubs went for the strawberry basil gin. Whew! Not only were they gorgeous to look at but they were also tasty and refreshing! It was too bad we only had time to have one because I wanted to have a few more!!! We shall return! Overall two new places on a Saturday and couldn't be happier! Yay!!!

1" piece of plastic in my take-out order, which I chewed on for a few seconds before checking to see what it was. Pretty sure I said, "hold the plastic", when I ordered. I'm skeptical about the ratio of food being cooked vs what's trucked in from U.S. foods or the like.

We revisited Tabu on a Thursday and it was really quiet. The server was attentive and new to the restaurant. I had a bowl of Tortilla soup and it was fabulous. I tried to order a cup of soup but even though the menu listed it, we were told there were no cup sizes...confusing. My husband wanted Pozole but they were out. He got a burger that was ordered medium and came out well. It wasn't bad but it wasn't really very good either. He said it tasted (and looked) like a frozen burger. It was supposed to have Jalapeño and other yummy stuff on it but it was disappointing. There was a big whole Jalapeño on top with undercooked bacon wrapped around it. Not going to reduce the rating because this is not a burger place.

The female bartenders that worked tonight at 8pm should be retrained on customer service. Sat for what felt like 20 mins after she gave us water. It was not busy. Then I see her taking care of two women who were seated well after us. I immediately wanted to leave but we were seated at the bar. She took our orders. Spoke in Spanish to the guys at the bar working and went back to making more drinks. They were super pleasant and one gentleman was training another on properly making drinks at the bar and cleanliness. I asked the woman for the bill when she came back around and declined. She assumed I was paying card and handed me a handheld machine with the full total. No bill. I paid and she never came back. Again I had to ask for help with the machine and getting a bill. The young gentleman was prompt and helpful. He also thanked us for coming. That young lady working tonight was disappointing, showed a favoritism to other patrons and a fail for service. Overall vibe was nice with the music. Drinks were good from the cocktail menu. Seats were visibly filthy because they are light I assume. Aesthetically pleasing overall. Disappointing outing that I'd not recommend unless the young man at the bar was working. The woman gives a bad name to bartenders everywhere.

Tabu has a lot of potential! It has a diverse selection of cocktails, wine, and beer. I got their espresso martini. It is my mission to try all espresso martinis in Tucson and although this wasn't my favorite the tequila base was unique and fun tasting! We came after the kitchen was closed so I didn't try the food menu. Ultimately, this is a new downtown bar that's still trying to figure out what type of place it wants to be. The decor is gorgeous and sophisticated but the music was being blasted as club-level loud. It made for a contradictory experience -- I thought it would be a great place to catch up with the gals but it was hard to hear each other over the trap music being played!

I came here for drinks on a Saturday night and was surprised by the DJ. I liked the music but it was a bit loud. I ended up moving from the bar to one of the tables because of the noise. I really liked the Bloody Sour as the bourbon was not overpowering in it like most bourbon drinks are. I loved the Angel Azul. It was light and refreshing and a little sweet. I had 2 of these. I wasn't a fan of the blood moon. It was very beet forward and a little sweet. I really liked the chips with guacamole as well and would get this again.

Cool spot. The sound could be better, you can hear parts of the building rattle when the music is loud. The food and drink were pretty good. I got the Mexican Chocolate Old Fashioned and this twist on a classic cocktail was great. The chocolate wasn't too sweet and everything else went well together. The elote had good flavor, but was over cooked. Some of the parts were mushy. This could have been due to being a slow night or still working out their kitchen.

Nice place but amateurish bar, limited selection of cocktails and the worst bartending I have ever seen. Beautifully decorated, lots of space, lots of seating. The drinks were great. The bar menu has a lot to choose from, definitely something for everyone. Cocktails, wine, craft beer... they've got your back. The bartender was very attentive and picked the perfect drink for my wife, as she was feeling a little indecisive. We didn't have a chance to try the food this time around but we will be back! read more

Such a fun bar! We went on a Sunday afternoon and hung out for hours. I had a lemon spritz drink that was really refreshing. The dining/dance area and bathrooms were clean. The service was friendly and gave great recommendations. They even took some of our music suggestions! Which made for an even better night. Christopher was our server, he was amazing. Took care of all our needs and kept our drinks full. We will definitely be coming back! read more

Wow this place sucks. It seems to have the appearance of being upscale, but the customer service is definitely not. We stopped in to have a drink and some food, and while one girl awkwardly got us water and menus, we sat for 10 minutes or so waiting to be acknowledged before we got up and left. There was a manager looking guy meandering around, a male bartender doing his best to do anything but look us in the eye let alone say he was making his way to help us, a bar back wandering around with apparently nothing to do, and a girl drying glasses with a dirty looking towel. I mean we were 2 of the 6 people in the bar. For a newish business, this is just unacceptable. I guess if you see it for what it is, a college kid club with overpriced food and overpriced drinks with the facade of being high-end, then maybe you'll be better prepared on what to expect when you walk in and have to beg to be acknowledged. read more

I was initially drawn to this bar based on its overall look, comfortable lounge seating, and being seated right away. However, I was quickly disappointed as it took about 20 minutes to get our drink orders in. Our waitress was very kind but kept forgetting what we ordered. She initially brought us the wrong drinks then came back 2 more times to ask for clarification on what we ordered. My husband got his drink 30 minutes in, however it was another 10 minutes before my drink came in and it was not at all what I expected. I took a few sips but did not enjoy my drink. I kept waiting for our waitress to come back to let her know but she never came back. It took about 30 minutes for another waitress to help us with paying so we could leave and they initially charged us for drinks we had not ordered. It took about 10 more minutes to clear that up and pay what we actually owed. I was very disappointed with the customer service. I will not be returning again, it felt like a hassle to get 2 drink orders correct, I can't imagine the experience when trying to order food. read more

I genuinely never write reviews, but I am in the restaurant industry and feel the need to speak on this place. My family was visiting from out of town, and we stubbled upon Tabu, which had an opening for 4 right then and there on a Saturday night which maybe should have been questionable but, living in the area awhile I could tell they were newer so we gave them a shot. We were greeted at the door and sat immediately which was nice. A gentleman brought over waters and aprox 7 minutes later had a server to take drink and food orders. She didn't know what a tecate was which is FINE. When I started out I didn't know anything either. Just something to note. Didn't get our chips for a while, and when they brought them there were aprox 12 chips for 4 people. I watched an altercation between 2 people and this girl had her finger in the servers face. Then watched a server get into an argument with the bartender. Our food came and one persons was a little different than what we ordered but it was okay. Their stuff was SPICY. I'm a white girl so maybe that's why but we all had to ask for sour cream LOL. Then proceeded to watch the bartenders take shots with friends / guests which is OKAY if the service is quality. If the service is already questionable, let's not add alcohol into the mix. I think this place should pick whether they want to be a bar, or a restaurant. read more

Charged my card 3 times for a single transaction. When I asked the server she assured me the pending charge would drop. I have now been disputing 3 transactions and it has taken up significant amounts of my time. Would avoid this place as it seems to be scamming customers! read more

I was at Tabu at around 5:45 last night and there was only one server working, the service was a little slow but it was understandable because it was mostly full and only one person working. Around 6:45 another worker came in and did not help at all, she was just walking around and talking to a man who I assume was the manager. She passed our table multiple times and didn't care to ask if we needed anything or just simply check on us. read more

Very Great atmosphere, can wear casual clothes or more fancy to this place. I got the mahi mahi tacos, from the east coast so fish tacos are a go to. These are my favorite fish tacos I've had. Staff are all very nice and service was very good. Would come back again and recommend. read more

Burk, the handsome man with a shiny head, was at the bar. He handed us a drink menu that contained fun drink names like Death of a Unicorn. The drinks tasted good and had a lovely presentation. Mine even came in a zebra mug. We also learned that this bar has both an upstairs and downstairs area. We enjoyed a couple of drinks and headed home. This place left such an impression that we have been back two times since. On another occasion we had Nate the bartender. He had a lovely personality and accommodated all of the guests that came in near closing. We enjoyed Santa's Banana Hammock and Unicorn Ski Accident. I would definitely recommend this hidden gem. I look forward to seeing where this place goes. It has a ton of potential for special events with the basement area. P.s. It's also a boutique hotel. You could always book a room and enjoy dreams downstairs without having to drive

Drinks were available at the venue bar or the Tap Room adjoining. There was also a big water dispenser available. The staff were nice and seemed happy. I asked for a recommendation for a mocktail at the Tap room, and the bartender said water. My friend ordered a mocktail and she said he was right, she should have ordered water, the drink was not worth $10. It's always fun to go downtown for a concert, there's so much to see and do.

The one who served us was very nice and even made a drink recipe I came up with. Unfortunately, their bar is not well stocked so had to make a LOT of adjustments to my recipe. But appreciated his suggestions and effort. Now for the bad stuff. They have a jazz club attached. I figured the whole place would have that ambience but was disappointed that wasn't the case. Generic pop on the patio and inside is very noisy. The preferred dress of patrons appears to be gym shorts and t-shirts. Drinks were a little weak so I switched over to bourbon on the rocks. But the prices are reasonable. Maybe a nice pre show stop if you're going to the Century room.

Well, let me tell you, that's just a facade bro. They're slinging cheap liquor, acting all premium, and charging you an arm and a leg for it. What a ripoff! I made the mistake of wasting my time and hard-earned cash there, and man, do I regret it. Their cocktails? More like watered-down swill. And don't even get me started on their food. It's like they took a page out of McDonald's playbook, serving up low-quality grub that's just plain disappointing. So, my advice my fellow party animals, is to steer clear of catpiss drinks.
