My wife and I met my friends Tuesday for Tiki night. They had drink specials which were fantastic for $15. Also, we got a couple appetizers and eight there as well. My Friends got the Poké bowl, my wife got the French dip and I got the Beef Birria quesadilla. All were fantastic, fresh and tasty. The only down of the night was service was slow. It seemed like we had to wait a long time to order, and then the server didn't come around as much. She was still great just a little slow on the service. I think we would absolutely go back for Tiki Night. Absolutely stop by on a Tuesday night give their drinks and dinner a try. If the service was not so slow, this would definitely be a five. I'm a little disappointed because we came in during Sonoran Restaurant Week mid-week, probably on a Wednesday or Thursday, and the menu was already sold out! I should have called ahead of time, but I assumed it would be available all week. Regardless, we did have a good meal. Service was excellent, and our waitress was very attentive and kind. We ordered a couple of apps and an entree to share. The food was pretty good, but the bowl of Brussels sprouts to share was huuuuge, so unfortunately we didn't get to eat much else. I suppose in terms of price, it was worth it, but I ended up eating Brussels sprouts for a couple of days after this meal, haha. I think it would be better if the price and portion was lower, but I suppose the serving size is good for a larger party. The birria quesadillas were delicious! We came here to celebrate my friend's birthday and we sat by the bar. The place was very busy on a Friday night but their service was on point. We decided to order Margaritas with one of my favorite tequilas and they were very well made, kudos to the bar tenders. We also tried some of their appetizers, the Balsamic Brussel sprouts (well cooked and so delicious) and the Sweet and Spicy calamari (well breaded and super crunchy). I have dined here numerous times and nine times out of ten the food is fantastic! Like eat every single bite, lick your plate, and think about getting more food, type of good. However, there was a time when my husband ordered some sort of dip sandwich and found some bones in it. We informed the server and he asked if it was in the au jus --it was clearly too big to fit in the au jus bowl so that was odd. My husband told him no it was in the sandwich and the server apologized and that was it. Kind of awkward. Service is good, although usually a bit harried, especially at lunch. They seem to be understaffed during that time of the day. Dinner seems better, but there was one awkward time where two servers got into a heated tiff in front of my husband and me about who was supposed to take care of our table. Very uncomfortable and unprofessional. Other than that single experience service has been good. They often have live music and the setting is a nice indoor/outdoor type of feel. Most recently I dined here on a Monday holiday and again they seemed understaffed. I was taken care of by Mason the bartender. He was literally running. I had iced tea--sooooo delicious that I had three glasses and wanted another--and the Caesar salad with salmon added. The salmon smelled a bit funky upon arrival but it tasted perfect. The tomatoes in the salad--yummmm! Like a juicy tomato but with the delicious sun dried taste! They have lots of delicious options, with something for everyone. I can't wait to come back! read more

We love everything about Hacienda Del Sol, the food, both the restaurant and grill. Be prepared to spend your money at the restaurant it's fine dining and have impeccable sommelier and best wine selection in all of Tucson.They never led us wrong on a bottle food pairing yet. The grill is great place to hang out with good friends especially if you want to go somewhere special and a hidden gem. To me it is the most special and beautiful place to stay,eat, and swim. It's were I have all our out of town friends stay because it is so quaint and truly represents what the south west charm and Tucson's history. So much so I had my best friends who had never been to Arizona come out and stay to celebrate my 50th birthday. I just love the pool it's so private and the glass wall surrounding the outskirts gives the most incredible view! Probably the worst tasting food I have had in Tucson by far. It's very disappointing considering they're one of the few restaurants in Tucson participating in Arizona Restaurant Week right now. We decided to get the Prix Fixe "special" and the food just sucked. I had the tortita de camaron--I think it was supposed to be a shrimp patty topped with birria and nopalitos...it was okay but a little to shrimpy and I'm unsure if this was supposed to be a hot or cold app...the entree looked beautiful with the pomegranates surrounding the snapper at the center of the plate. However, I honestly don't know what they were thinking soaking the pomegranates in really bad tasting wine rendering them inedible. The cook on the fish was atrocious like some parts were cold and the other parts had grill/burn marks, and the gall to call the green salsa "mole"! It did not feel at all like any "love" went into creating these dishes...to top it all off the dessert which was supposed to be "dulce de leche" seemed like it didn't know if it was going to be a mousse, a panna cota, or a shake. I feel terrible choosing this place to celebrate our anniversary, my husband almost threw up with one bite of his entree, the blue corn tlacayo. Before the prix fixe menu, we decided to get the ahi tuna tostadas which were actually decent...overall, the setting/ambiance is beautiful but the food left something to be desired. I'm seriously contemplating asking my credit card company for a charge back as that is the worst use of a couple hundred bucks. I love food in Tucson and in AZ, I'm ashamed that this place is trying to cater to out of state tourists and hotel guests and trying to represent Tucson City of Gastronomy when in all honesty it's just crap food. My wife and I were part of a group of seven couples who dined at the Terraza Garden Patio five days ago. The men sat at one table and the ladies sat at another. The following day my wife and four other ladies at her table showed symptoms of food poisoning, some of them pretty severe. My wife was in bed the following day with nausea and severe diarrhea. The others experienced similar problems. Some extending for days. One had to seek medical attention for severe dehydration. The next day I called the restaurant twice to ask to speak to a manager and inform them what the ladies were experiencing and that it appeared that it was most likely food poisoning as a result of what they ate at the restaurant. Both times I called I was told by a hostess that there was no manager available to talk to me. After an hour or so after the second call, I did get a call back from someone who said he was a chef at the restaurant and I explained to him that what had happened. His response sounded as if the restaurant's lawyers were sitting at his side and coaching him. It was as if I were trying to scam the restaurant out of a free meal. At one point he suggested that the ladies probably just had indigestion. It's been five days since we dined there and two of the ladies are still ill. None of us who have contacted the restaurant have been contacted by a call back from a manager. I and others in our group have filed food poisoning reports with the Pima County Health Department hoping that will result in some positive action to be taken. My wife and I have dined there numerous times over the years and have always enjoyed the ambiance, the food and the service. Because of this recent experience and the lack of any response to our concerns and calls it will be a long time before we return. read more

This was my Friday night, Sonoran restaurant week dinner. I was excited to come here as I had heard good reviews by word-of-mouth, but was confused with the ratings on Yelp, which seem to be lower. I decided to find out for myself. I was really happy when I got here to find that they had live music, which I had no idea about. The performers were super friendly and even approached our table to ask for requests. I had a server along with another one in training I believe. Both offered great service. When it came to ordering, I ordered the Sonoran restaurant week special, while my husband ordered off the menu. my husband ordered deviled eggs and a Sonoran hotdog which came with two sides (pictured). I tasted both and they were... OK. When it came to my Sonoran restaurant week, I ordered the pazole appetizer. It was great, no complaint. The meal however left much to be desired. The torta bread was plump and soft/crisp, but that first bite left me spiraling. It was a potato and chorizo hash, I believe, and the textures just did not seem to go along with the other condiments in the sandwich. The substance was very soft and mashed-like while there was crunchy bits of lettuce and onion. It was just odd to me. I knew I did not want another bite and spoke to the server to send it back, which I rarely do. I told him it did not need to be replaced, however, he really wanted to ensure I was happy and sent out a replacement. I picked the salmon dish under the Sonoran restaurant week. That one was better..not a 10 out of 10, but better. The dessert was good. It reminded me a bit of flan. My drink was also really good. I wanted a Mocktail, but something a little sweeter. Our two servers whipped something up that was amazing. The stand out from this restaurant was definitely the people and the service. They deserve all the stars. Having been married here three years ago, we come back occasionally to have lunch or dinner. Memories are great and the view is always spectacular. This was a lovely January afternoon and we came for lunch and wished there were more umbrellas/covered places to sit outside. Since we didn't want to eat in full sun, we sat inside which was okay and our server Chelsea was great - prompt and super kind. Lunch was a swordfish sammie and a salad for the hubs and the Ahi Poke app for me. Both were fresh and yummy. Chocolate cake was good but not a highlight for us. I came here for Tiki Tuesday and was able to hit the very tail end of HH tonight. The tiki calamari was a small portion and really good. The tiki mahi tacos were just 2 tacos and ok. The sangria from the HH menu tasted like a mimosa until the very end when the peach flavor came through. It was good though. I didn't like the 2 tiki drinks I tried. The mai tai was way too sour. The Makai was bitter. Both tasted like bottom shelf alcohol. The patio was super busy and I loved the live mellow steel drum music. We have had reservations at this restaurant for about six weeks for 28 people in a private room. The menu was chosen. We had three entrées to choose from the price was fixed alcoholic drinks not included nor were any other beverages except water in a glass. We arrived. It was very confusing about who was taking drink orders. It was very slow to get drinks on the patio. Then we were seated at 7 o'clock and with the fixed menu everyone had the same salad. Our salad came out at around 8:15 so that was an hour and 15 minutes to wait for a salad. Yes they did take our main course order which was a from choice of three offerings. The main course arrived at 9 PM with very poor service in between asking for drinks or bringing more bread or for any drink refills the lady who planned this dinner had to go and speak with a manager multiple times he finally came in and helped with the service, but it was still poor one of the waitresses was extremely rude, and I watched her kick a wine menu away from the wall and out of her way and huff off on her way. My sirloin was tiny and tough. The presentation on the plate was not up to what I would consider $100 plate meal. I got two asparagus. Some people got sick. Some people got one very inconsistent and finally the desserts arrived, which we had a choice from two and those were slapped on the table, but not everyone at the table got what they had ordered. I never received mine so someone gave me theirs as they did not want dessert. We had heard that this was a wonderful place and that they could handle a large crowd, but obviously they could not our bill was over $350 and honestly I would've had better service at my local Chick-fil-A. Also a 25% gratuity was added to every person's bill and I honestly do not feel that any of the Service deserved gratuity. Maybe the manager did but no one else did. read more

This is a more laid-back option for dining at Hacienda del Sol, which is nice both for those staying at the hotel and for locals hankering for a dinner with a view. There's also live music, so the patio's ambience is very lively and upbeat. We went for a recent dinner and enjoyed both the music and food. We started with the Chopped Salad, which has mixed greens, tomatoes, fried chickpeas, onion, corn, marinated cauliflower, and goat cheese, and is dressed in a balsamic vinaigrette. This was a great salad, very bright with an array of flavors from the marinated veggies, the cheese, and the vinaigrette. It was quite large -- three of us split it as a hearty appetizer -- and would be an excellent entrée on a hot evening. Two of us got tacos that we liked very much. I had octopus tacos, which are always a treat when well-cooked, and I enjoyed them immensely. The octopus was grilled to a perfect tenderness and seasoned with some lovely southwestern flavors. The tacos also had greens and pickled vegetables, which provided a light balance to the richness of the pieces of octopus. My companion had the mushroom tacos, which were packed with corn and other vegetables and topped with a spicy crema. Our other companion got the barbeque salmon, which came with potatoes and asparagus. It was a preparation of salmon that I'd not had before! It was boldly smoky and rich, and felt like a mash-up of fine dining and a backyard cookout. First - we had a great time meeting my cousin here for dinner. And second - its super hard to beat the Tucson evenings, especially in a great location like the Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort Terraza patio. While this isn't an inexpensive restaurant, you will certainly receive more than your money's worth in service and food quality. On this evening there was a dinner band playing - not too loud and not too rambunctious (BTW it wasn't elevator music) for dinner music. Reservations are recommended. We started our visit with chips and guacamole. The chips were standard fare but we liked the colorful presentation (see pic). BUT the guac was great: freshly made, super avocados and the right amount of heat. The salsa seemed fresh as well. It wasn't too hot for anyone at the table. We then had the Chopped Salad with additional chicken breast. As you can see the greens were quite fresh - and flavorful. The chicken was cooked just right: still moist and seasoning of the chicken came through well. NOW this is a Roasted Turkey sandwich! There was ample sliced turkey, see my pic. Everything on this sandwich was fresh and the 9 Grain bread held up very well. NOW the fries! These were a bigger hit than the guac (which was quite good). The fries retained their crunchiness throughout the evening and were seasoned quite well - not too salty with a touch of herbs. Overall, great company and a great meal. read more

We dined in the Terraza Patio area. A jazz duo set the ambience for our casual dining. Music on a Sunday eve was delightful. Half of our dining party had salads, along w a tuna tartare app. The other half had fish tacos and carnitas. The one-star reduction was for accuracy and quality. Salad did not have pecans as described, and carnitas were more a slice from a pork chop than pulled pork (firm, not tender). The food at Terraza was of mixed quality, but the service, setting and drinks were outstanding. My wife and I stayed at Hacienda del Rio, and dined outside at the Terraza patio around 7:30pm our first night there (Wednesday). There were probably only 8 other parties at tables, mostly indoors, and service was attentive and prompt. We started off with the Tamari Brussels Sprouts, which were probably the best Brussels we've had anywhere. The Guacamole was also very good. Unfortunately, the food quality went downhill from there. My wife ordered the Lomo Adabado en Salsa Verde, and the pork was purportedly a "tenderloin" but it was not tender and it was full of gristle; she only ate maybe half of the meat. I ordered the Hacienda Street Tacos, with Braised Beef Birria, but found them rather dry and not very flavorful (consistent with what others have noted). However, the cocktails were fantastic! My wife had the Nobleman margarita on the rocks and I had the Isles of Agave (mezcal) served up. They also offer a large selection of spirits, including several tequilas, mezcals and interesting variants. I particularly enjoyed a stand-alone pour of the raicilla (which I had never even heard of before). Being from the Seattle area, it was especially nice to dine outdoors in late March. They have about a dozen patio heaters that they can wheel into service alongside any table on the patio, and they put one right behind my wife, making it very comfortable. There is a pretty good view of the mountains from the patio, but we had a better view from our room. Given our initial experience with the food vs. the drinks, we re-ordered the drinks to take back to our room two nights later to accompany a couple of bowls we ordered from Blanco Cocina via DoorDash on Friday. read more

I wanted to start off with some positives, but I'm afraid there weren't many. I think the bar was 5*, but we were only there 15 minutes. When I checked in with the host the young man said "is outside okay?" I had made the reservation only a few days before and the clientele was definitely older so I said that was fine (big mistake). They sat us on the patio next to a heater, but the cold wind was to my left and the heater was to the right, so I was feeling very little heat. We got menus and water then waited ... waited ... waited. Likely around 20 minutes later I went inside and told a manager, and the woman we had been watching go from table to table came over and started waiting on us. We don't know if they neglected to assign us wait staff and nobody waiting on people outside took the initiative to talk to us, or if this woman was supposed to be our waitress the whole time and just ignored us. I was excited to try the pasta, which they were out of, so I reluctantly got the tacos. I say reluctantly since I can get tacos anywhere and it was Christmas and we were at a resort! I was shivering by this point. I just had a light jacket. The tables next to us had eldely people at them and I could hear them talk about how uncomfortable they were. Guests were passing around a heavy blanket and in one instance a few people from the table next to us walked over to another heater to get warm. My tacos were good, but hardly worth the hour wait at this point. I could get those same tacos most places in 10 minutes. My husband ordered the barria quesadilla and although he said they were good, they looked burned. He confirmed that the bottom side did taste burned. I had to go to the bathroom so while my husband finished eating I went inside to find half the tables empty. I was so upset! I had been shivering outside for well over an hour at this point, and the warm enclosed patio portion had a lot of empty tables. If I had been the manager at this establishment I would have gone table to table outside to ask if anyone wanted to move inside. Nobody did that for anyone outside. The hotel the next day asked how my stay was and I told them this restaurant was 6/10 stars. A manager from the restaurant called me right then, but I was in a loud restaurant and asked him to call me in an hour. He never tried to call back. My husband and I stayed in this resort for 2 nights and never ate there again after our horrible experience. My husband and I highly suggest the establishments down at the main intersection just 1.5 miles from the hotel. We ate in those places the rest of our stay. read more

Let me start by saying that this was the worst experience I've ever had at Hacienda del Sol. My husband and I got married here 3 years ago (which was a fantastic experience), so our expectations were quite high. Ever since, it's been a tradition to come eat either on my birthday or on our anniversary. This year, we chose my birthday. My husband was recently diagnosed with a gluten allergy, so I always call ahead to make sure the restaurant is familiar with gluten allergies, and they are aware of the allergy ahead of time. This time was no different. When we arrived, I explained to the waitress that my husband had a gluten allergy, and she told us we were covered. She would make sure the chef was aware. We ordered the grilled watermelon and the calamari (not safe, but my husband wasn't eating it). Both were good in flavor. I think the best part of the watermelon was the shrimp topping. The watermelon was seared on a grill but didn't have much grilled flavor. The calamari was Asian inspired and very flavorful. My husband and my mom ordered prickly pear margaritas, the drink of choice at our wedding. My husband's was light in color and my mom's was bright pink. We didn't understand why both were not the same, but both were refreshing. For our main courses, my dad ordered the ribeye (med rare), my mom ordered the ribeye (med rare), my husband ordered the pork tacos, and I ordered the mahi mahi tacos. Ironically, the waitress asked if my husband wanted flour tortillas. I reminded her of his allergy, and she assured us that the chef was aware. When the meals came out, the waitress asked my mom to cut into her ribeye, which was blue inside. She took it back to be made again. Once all meals were delivered correctly, we began to dive in. The ribeye was bland in flavor with little to no seasoning on the vegetables. My husband put the chili/beans that were served on the side onto his tacos and started to devour them. Unfortunately, the corn tortillas were super dry and crumbly, a surprise in southern Arizona. My mahi mahi was super dry, and the corn tortillas did the same. The meal was quite disappointing. A few bites into the meal, my husband started to not feel good, so he excused himself to the bathroom and to walk around. I asked the manager to come over and asked about the beans. He said they were made with beer!! I explained that my husband has a gluten allergy and wasn't feeling good, and his response? Oops. Sorry about that. I then explained how disappointed we were. While my husband was sick in the bathroom, the manager came back to say that he would comp our meals for their error. We asked for the bill. They had charged us for 3 ribeyes (not 2) and barely gave a discount. The restaurant manager came to talk with us, but he didn't care either. The waitress was the only one to show any concern. We left disappointed and never to return back. My husband spent the entire night sick, wondering whether or not to go to the ER. Hacienda - you were a disappointment. We got married there 3 years ago but don't plan on returning because of your negligence and lack of quality. read more

The food was excellent, particularly the mahi-mahi tacos, and service from the waitstaff was good too. Sonoran restaurant week is a great time to try new places. Arriving, we really enjoyed the grounds and the show garden. We were seated directly adjacent a loud piano in an otherwise empty room that was some sort of semi enclosed dining area. It was a little bit haphazard. We asked to be seated anywhere else since we couldn't hear ourselves think and were told no in a variety of ways. I eventually just walked into the bar and sat myself and let them sort it out. There was an event outside which might have impacted their staffing and seating but it was never explained. At the end of the meal I asked if f there was something going on that kept us from being seated outside on the patio and our server pretended that we could have sat outside. Whatever.... The food was ok but not exceptional. I don't know. read more

Food was terrible. Ask for a quiet table and was seated right in front of the band! Waiter was less than professional and definitely not friendly. Moved to the Lounge for dessert and coffee with Jensen as our server, he is outstanding! He was our server prior to dinner for apps and drinks and did not disappoint. Started the evening in the bar area enjoying a cocktail and ordering up some Ahi Tuna Poke Nacho hors d'oeuvres along with one of my favorite margaritas, the Verde Margarita extra muddled jalapeno, with extra cilantro. The tuna rested with the gochujang mayo, pickled cucumbers, sesame seeds on top of a wonton crispy thingy. The flavors were balanced and tasted scrumptious. The bartenders, Ethan, Adam, Tony and Erin are really helpful and cool. They suggested I try the new Deviled eggs. I ordered them up and ended up devouring them before taking a snapshot. Oops!, next time. All nine of them were really good too. Lastly, I ordered the Grill Chicken Caeser salad, since I ate too many hors d'oeuvres, and only wanted something light (lite) LOL. The chicken was really tender n tasty, and the salad, is salad, how can you mess up salad? Lastly I went out with my nightcap and enjoyed the ambience of the dancing flames by the firepit enjoying a relaxing evening with friends. Needless to say, I'll be back soon! read more

I really wish I could review our two experiences at Terraza separately. Happy hour on a Friday evening was perfection: attentive service, excellent cocktails, and appetizers and desserts that we exactly as advertised (hint: order the hazelnut mousse). But a Saturday breakfast was another story. It was about 9am and we were staying at the resort. The hostess was short with the couple of people waiting ahead of us, including one couple that had been directed to wait in the bar area but never added to the "official" breakfast list and ultimately left to eat elsewhere. The patio space was lovely once we'd waited slightly less than the stated 20 minutes. But that's where the positives ended. Coffee was decidedly mediocre. I selected the chilaquiles; my best guess is that the person who made them had never eaten them, only heard of them from an inarticulate friend. It was a plate of chips arrayed as nachos would be, drowned in decent enchilada sauce and decorated with eggs and beans. Edible I suppose, but not good. This experience, plus the rest of our time at Hacienda, makes me think they've lost their magic. read more

This place is a solid 3.5 stars. Came here because I heard they were known for their amazing brunch menu. It's a four course meal with a lot to offer. They start you off with pastries and muffins, followed by a cheese plate and then the main course. After that, they bring you some dessert. While the menu had a lot to offer you definitely are paying for the experience. Overall the experience was alright. The service was great and the waiter was attentive to the tables needs and I don't think my glass ever got below half, as they constantly were refilling and clearing plates. The service was every bit of a five star experience. Food and atmosphere were alright. I ordered the eggs and prime rib. The prime rib was tasty but would have loved a nice steak knife rather than having to use my butter knife to cut my prime rib. The meal came with potatoes which were pretty bland. Bacon was good and cooked just the way I like it. OJ was delicious but the coffee was not that good. For what you pay, you do expect a little more. When you come to a place like this, you definitely have some expectations and you should. The resort itself was clean and the staff were very friendly! There are a few resorts in this town and I'm sure they all offer some sort of brunch specials. For me, next time I think I'll try a different place. Cheers. read more

If you've been to France and had steak frites, you'll probably be disappointed with their version. Steak was tough and the picanha sauce was odd and didn't do anything to accentuate the taste of the meat. The frites were thin and boring. I would suggest you order something else. read more

We are staying at Hacienda del Sol and enjoyed dinner here our first night. Food and drinks were really good. Service was top notch. We sat on the patio which was cooled and then they opened up the screens after 6pm. Live music featuring a piano player too. read more

Loved the food, service, dog friendly patio. Walkway to the restaurant was gorgeous as is the hotel grounds. There is a chargepoint EV station in parking lot to charge my car while eating. I wish it was the free Tesla charger, but paying for EV is not expensive. Reasonable prices at restaurant. read more

Wow! This place was terrible. We went at the suggestion of friends who had consistently had wonderful meals here. Don't know what happened. Hard to tell what happened in the kitchen, but all of our meals were consistently terrible. Tamales were dry and crumbly, shrimp tacos had little to no seasoning or sauce or anything, pesto pasta is done better by Olive Garden. Food was way over salted. This is a beautiful location, I suggest you go there and look at the garden and look at the grounds, but don't eat there. Needless to say the bill was substantial. The wine list is very high-end and expensive and it's a shame because the food was close to inedible. read more

Great service and food! I had the power bowl with tofu, which was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
