This place has been around for years which is a good thing. It means things are going well because they've stayed in business so long. "Well" being the optimum word. My thoughts is that the interior needs an update. My table was sticky, not wipe down sticky, but years of use sticky. I love tachi sushi bar. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is relaxing. The service is perfect. I go to this place to have what I call a food spa. Because it is decorated nicely, clean, and not brightly lit, it is very relaxing. I do go early in the day, around 11: 30 a.m., it is a much quieter experience for me at that time of day. The food is good with a wide variety of options including soups, sushi, chicken, and more. The tachi chicken is one of my favorites with fried katsu-like chicken and a sweet sauce. The service is great as well. The restaurant has a good amount of seating, but it can get busy. There is a large TV that often is playing sports and nice decor on the walls. read more

NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY!! DON'T GO IF YOU HAVE KIDS!! We've eaten at Tai Chi before and always liked the food, but today's experience was very uncomfortable. The male owner clearly did not want us to bring in our stroller and told us we could not have two high chairs for our toddler and baby without any reasons, even though the restaurant was mostly empty. We offered to put the stroller away and rearrange chairs, he still warned us that if we came back in the future, we would not be allowed to bring a stroller at all. We were not in anyone's way, (only two tables were occupied in the entire restaurant) yet we felt unwelcome simply because we came with young children. If you have a toddler or a baby--especially if you need to bring a stroller--please be aware that this restaurant is not family-friendly and the owner does not welcome strollers. We arrived at 8:00 PM and the restaurant closes at 9:00 PM. We were told upfront that we needed to place our full order by a certain time because the kitchen would be closing, and we agreed. They assured us it was totally fine for us to stay and order. Unfortunately, the customer service was terrible from the start. There was a woman and a man working, and both were extremely rude. They didn't bother asking what drinks we wanted or checking in properly. The woman had a very bad attitude and made us feel uncomfortable the entire time. She constantly hovered around our table, staring at us, repeatedly coming back without saying anything. She was loudly cleaning menus, putting them down aggressively on the table, and clearly making it obvious she wanted us to leave--even though it was still before closing time. The food itself was fine, but the experience was completely ruined by the disrespectful behavior. When we were leaving, the staff openly counted how much we left on the table and then called us "poor" for not leaving a tip. We didn't leave a tip because of the horrible customer service, not because we couldn't. No customer should ever be treated this way. We will not be returning. read more

We went here with my 2 sons because we were not able to eat at Ozura because the wait was forever. It's the best decision we had that time because we found out that the food was great and the service was very efficient. We got our food on time and complete. I always have a great time when I come. The quality of the food is great with good portion sizes, especially for the price. The menu is huge so everyone can find something to get. My favorites are the hamachi kama, green beans, house salad (they put a lot of dressing, you can always ask for less), fried rice, and honestly any of the rolls (I've had several of them and I liked all of them)! I love Tachi it is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants. I have been coming to Tachi for many years (probably 20+). The food is always fantastic! The lunch specials are a terrific value. Unfortunately they are not open for lunch on weekends. I recently had dinner for my birthday. I had California maki, asparagus maki, tempgi maki. California maki has real crab! Also had Tachi snack combo (shrimp, scallop, chicken, beef yakatori skewers) and tempura which provides lots of variety. AVOID THIS PLACE, so cheap!!!! I got a spicy roll and a crunchy roll and they came with a lot of mayo-based sauce. The rolls were literally drowning in mayo sauce that was very bad tasting. My friend asked if they could swap for rolls without all of the sauce. The waitress kept saying that they could bring out another roll with no sauce but there was no offer to make the order right. Instead they brought out the manager who said the same thing the waitress did. They even said that since two pieces had been eaten they could only do a 50% discount on one of the rolls. On top of that, the waitress never came back to the table so we had to flag someone else who worked there down so we could pay and leave. What a horrible experience. I will be going out for sushi elsewhere in the future. read more

Came in kind of late with my daughter, kind of doing a dad/daughter night with some clothes shopping and the staff was completely accommodating! Unlike the "Awe crap!" look you normally get. Just had the most terrible experience here - I'm post surgery for throat cancer and we walked in and were hardly greeted. We were told just to sit down. The guy practically threw our menus at us! We observed him being kind to all of the other customers who were of a different skin color than ours. He asked us what we wanted to order and then walked away as we were about to tell him! We weren't given any spoons for our soup and one of the ladies there was staring me down as I was smiling at her! We weren't checked on at all, and besides the guy walking away before we were even done giving him our order we could not even get drinks despite trying to wave them down multiple times. When I first moved to Concord this was the closest Japanese restaurant to me. I would come here for the lunch specials with friends on the weekdays when our kids were at school. Or I'd order take out on Fridays when I didn't feel like cooking. It was convenient and the owners were very friendly. With new restaurants always popping up, I kind of forgot about this place. I was running errands with a friend and we were planning on having lunch afterwards. She had never eaten at Tachi and was wanting Japanese food. It's been over 10 years since I've eaten here. Tachi is located in the Clayton Shopping Center near Panda Express and Peet's Coffee. And there's plenty of parking. The restaurant was like I remembered. Staff was still very friendly and the food came out quickly. Once we showed our vaccination cards, we were seated immediately at one of their comfy booths. Since it was a weekday afternoon, we ordered from their lunch special menu. I ordered the California Maki with Tempura. My girlfriend chose the Chicken Teriyaki and Tempura. The food is good, but other places are more generous with their portions and have a bigger selection of vegetable tempura.
