I am a fan of this little bar. We met up with some friends here one night while we were on vacation in Palm Springs. I stepped out of the car and took one deep breath, inhaling the lovely smell of horses. Now, my husband doesn't care for the smell but for me it just rushes in all these wonderful memories of horseback riding... I think only a rider could understand or would agree with me! Immediately I was excited! Then we heard the band! Turns out that they have live music every Friday night. So even before walking into the bar they already have received a couple of stars for making me a happy person! We walk into the bar and it's perfect. Designed like a barn with wood floors, walls, post and beams, saddles and all other horse accoutrements. Then in the middle of the bar is a beautiful chandelier which made the place slightly classy. Perfect classy and divey all at the same time! The bartenders were friendly, they flirted with our men but I'm pretty sure they didn't mind. The reason why this bar got 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the security man, "Paul Blart", who decided when the bar was going to close and was sort of rude about it. It was before California's "last call" of 2AM but he decided to call it a night because he was tired. I get it, I used to work in a bar, but he was very rude. We had just been served our last beers and he insisted that we chug them or leave them as we needed to go. We had a great night but we will always remember "Paul Blart" and his attitude. My favorite Restaurant and Bar in the area..New to the valley for only 6 months and knew this was the place after my first visit. The bar is cool and the drinks are plentiful. This place was a pearl in an oyster! It's off the beaten path but the atmosphere is quirky and the food is good. Try the coconut shrimp.

We came here for dinner while spending a relaxing weekend by the pool in La Quinta. We were especially pleased after arriving here as we went to another dive bar (Neil's) first and had such horrible service that we decided to leave and try somewhere else, and it's a good thing we did. The food was good all around - the garlic fries were super good, loaded with fresh garlic and very crispy - the onion rings were to die for - not too greasy and well seasoned. Menu was mostly sandwiches, burgers, casual bar food. They have a huge outdoor patio area which was perfect for enjoying a drink in the warm, breezy night air. Friendly service. read more

Ordered a bunch of appetizers and was shocked at how bland and greasy everything was. Not terrible, just average. This is bad because the prices were not cheap, and I was left feeling like i don't get a good deal at all. Ordered a Stone IPA in bottle since they only have domestic on draft, and paid around $6-7, which again seems kind of high. I'm sure other people enjoy this place very much but I was just left wanting. Since I believe in YELP! My guy and I gave this place a try on Friday around 4 O'Clock there were just a few people there. We were greeted with a smiling hostess and sat in a booth.. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly! We had the potato skins and nachos...they were pretty good. I just love this place.....you can sit inside, at tables or at the bar, and chill or watch sports on one of their many tvs....or chill outside, enjoy the live entertainment and other activities, such as dancing, too. Great little tavern for the place it's in. Hidden away, the Tack Room Tavern is great place to go get drinks for the evening. When you're there, you kind of forget that your in the southern part of the Coachella Valley. Drinks are mixed very well...they actually taste like an adult beverage and not a child's novelty drink. On the weekends (at least saturday night) they have some sort of live band playing outside under the huge heated canopy. They leave an open space for dancing and provide waiter service for those seated outside. Inside the bar, the place is nicely decorated with items you would find in a tack room/ stable, hence the name. Sometimes I feel like I need to turn in my shoes for some boots when I'm there, and I mean that in a good sense. Always a good time. Check it out...or don't, I'd rather keep it a local's secret anyways. read more

To be clear, the staff and the atmosphere are WONDERFUL! A friendly, comfortable, and relaxed place. The drinks are ice cold and strong Sadly, our dinner was a MASSIVE disappointment. Our salads were warm and wilty, my baby back ribs were dry and tasted old, like they'd been pulled from the fridge and reheated. If we'd only spent a few bucks I wouldn't be complaining, but we spent $85. Big disappointment. read more

I knew this place was near my home, but I never bothered to check it out. I wanted to take my wife out for a couple of drinks and an appetizer the other night. Checked the reviews here, and took a look at the website to get an idea of what it would be like. Seemed good. (Tack Room - your website is horribly overdone with Adobe Flash and it sucks) Well, it was great. We had some potato skins to start. They were good and came with a generous portion of sour cream to dip them in. We thought it needed some salt and a side of ranch, but they were very good. The house whisky is my personal choice, so that was nice as well. Shots were $6, and so were the potato skins. Everything on the menu seemed reasonable. If I remember right beers were $3 and premium beers were $4. We plan to come back here often, as they said Karaoke was Thursdays, and we would like to try more of the food. Our server was very friendly and informative as well. All things considered this place was a nice change from the dive bars and other nearby places (Beer Hunter, Applebees), and also didn't have the same bar flies I get tired of seeing the last ten years, I am a fan. read more

I visit PS often and I have fond memories of The Tack Room but now the food is just bad. We ordered the sampler (wings, skins, moz sticks and mini corn dogs). Everything was obviously frozen and nothing was fresh. I ordered the angus burger and this tasted like it was defrosted as well. The salad as an entree was bland and wilted. It was a little busy and the servers were running around and seemed disorganized. Management was clearly lacking and supervision was desperately needed since the person who took our drink order didnt even know what liquor they had in stock while the hostess was on her cell phone outside the back door. There was clearly desperation on the part of their servers and the customers. I assume the owner hopes you get drunk so you cant tell how bad the food is. Yes this is a great venue and it could be so much more. Until management and the food improves dramatically, I recommend that you eat somewhere else before coming for the music. Very sad. read more

Food prices are on the high side, but is pretty good. Drink prices are about average for a bar. The service is horrible. Waiters disappear a lot. The last time I was here, I had to wait for my bill for 20 minutes after I asked for it. It wasn't busy either. It is a nice spot though. Overall, it's a nice environment. I was as surprised as others to stumble upon this place. Located on the Empire Polo Grounds (off Monroe), this place is a hybrid dive bar/restaurant. Stopped by on a Saturday evening and found a mix of early bird diners and locals at the bar. I think there may have been a few Coachella Music Festival roadies in there as well, as the festival was a week away and stages/tents were being erected. Bar has a good selection of bottled beers (including Stone) and the Happy Hour menu had some pretty good deals on things like potato skins and nachos. The decor plays on the "tack room" theme and includes several bar stools that are actual saddles - which is pretty unique. There seems to be a nice outdoor seating area which I imagine fills up during special events. read more

Go for the burgers, dont waste money or calories at Red Robin or some other typical chain place. Burger is ten dollars, but worth the exellent and fast servers. Out at La Quinta for a weekend getaway and looking for a place to have a beer and watch the game. Went to the Fantasy Springs casino and didn't stay too long too many old, compulsive gamblers and no music. Decided to try out the Tack Room. Local crowd, everyone kept to themselves, but it was a good for grabbing a beer, and to watch the game. There was a good mix of people, that you could see congregating together. In one section you had your Raider fans, the other the charger fans, another corner your trendy LA types ho looked uncomfortable and left pretty quickly. Traveling through town on Sunday, we were looking for a restaurant with plenty of parking for our RV and dog-friendly so we could bring our dog along; we found this great place on Yelp. Plenty of parking and our pup was welcome to sit with us on the patio. Loved this place. The ambience was great - wished we could have sat inside as it was really happening! Will have to go back. We had the most delicious chilliquilles - yummm! The price was pretty reasonable - two breakfasts and two beers for about $30. The wait staff was very friendly, but the service was a little slow. Our third visit this season to this local (for us) place. Great casual atmosphere with the added bonus of seeing the polo grounds and the horses. We brought visiting family here since it was a lovely day to sit on the patio for lunch. We were a party of four adults. Pleasant waitress, promptly took our order for drinks and when she returned with drinks took our food order. The restaurant was not full. Three tables who were seated and ordered after us received their food before us. When I inquired about our order the waitress said she would check on it. When the meals were finally delivered she said the delay was in cooking a burger medium well. No apology. Good food, not pleased with service. read more

I decided to lunch here when it was the last stop on a Poker Run. I ordered the Tack Room Chicken Sandwich. It was a chicken breast with caramelized onions, roasted peppers, pepper jack cheese and chipotle mayo served on a brioche bun. The sandwich was served promptly and was tasty. It was accompanied by french fries that were done well, which is preferred to soggy. I will have to come again and check out the rest of the menu. read more
