Management and customer service are horrible for the store. I try to get into contact multiple times with the management they refused to call me back and will only speak to me via email. They don't even sign their name in their emails, I don't even know who I'm speaking to at this point it could be a person working at the register. I ordered a pair of mountain horse boots it was coming from the manufacturer in Pennsylvania the boots did not work the company would like for me to pay shipping back to California for these boots ... how is that fair? A company should be able to lose a little bit of money in order to please their customers. I highly recommend to stick to a shop like SmartPak or Dover if you need any items for yourself or your horse which may need to be returned because they offer free returns and no hassle. read more

I had been in Tack Warehouse a few times and was always happy. Then we were at International and their trailer was there. I found a fairly expensive snaffle bit (though still a good price) I really wanted, but while handling it I cut my thumb on a section of plating that had lifted on the mouthpiece. I showed it to my trainer who could also see and feel it and she took it to the person at the cash register. The attendant took the bit, barely looked at it, told my trainer that there was nothing wrong with the bit and hung it right back up. If this is their concern for quality, customer support and SAFETY, we ,and the rest of our barn don't need it. Needless to say, we have never been back to the store. Highly disappointed. read more

I've been going to the Tack Warehouse for years, whenever I need something they sell, and it was always a nice store with friendly staff, but it had limited stock, and merchandise did not turn over quickly. Wow - this time was I surprised and delighted - it is much much larger - the rooms are organized with lots of new merchandise. Literally just about anything I could want for my horses or myself if available there now! The staff were new to me, but were friendly and helpful, knew where everything was located, and sent someone to assist me. The used merchandise is also good quality, and they allowed me to borrow saddles for 48 hours to fit them on my horse. I intended to buy several things and did, but I wound up spending a long time wandering through checking out all their great stuff. I will be returning very soon! read more

Wow. Sacramento's little feed shops have nothing on this absolute gem. It felt like walking into the gates of heaven. There is such a huge variety of things. Tack of all disciplines and styles, clothing, housewares, feed, and other pet supplies. Whatever you want, this place has it. I've seen things that I haven't even seen online yet. You got new and used stuff at fairly reasonable prices. Finally found my go to place. Hope my horse wears his stuff out faster so I can get to shopping already! read more

We shopped local downtown Woodland today for Christmas. We had never shopped the Tack store and decided to check it out. Let me start with I understand we are coming back from a major shut down. My guess is they have been closed for awhile but come on, the hats on the walls as well as the boots on display are all covered in dust. The owners could have been cleaning and rotating stock while covid closed. Employees were all sitting around chatting and eating popcorn on what should have been a busy day of shopping. While Polite they were not very service orientated. The part that amazed me the most was they build themselves as the largest tack store in Northern California and after purchasing $250 worth of shirts they were wadded into a plastic bag that said thank you on the side instead of a nice paper bag with a logo from the store and perhaps their address and phone number. We felt like we were Interrupting their social hour. read more

I was in need of a new riding helmet primarily for trail riding and arena work. The young lady who helped me select a helmet was very knowledgeable and took the time to find one in my size and color preference. I do not remember her name but she has long black hair. After selecting the helmet we wandered around the store very impressed with the large selection of English and Western riding apparel and gear. We walked in to look at saddles to buy and the clerk at the front told us that we had to have a mask or if we didn't have one we could buy one. That's ridiculous, if you want me to have a mask I understand, but you need to provide it at no charge...I will wear it to make you feel safe but I will not buy something I don't want. I will not frequent this store again, you have lost my business and I have two horses and purchase tack and clothing. read more

I need to take a moment to share a situation that happened to my 15 year old sister yesterday. The way she was treated by this company and owner is absolutely deplorable and I feel it my responsibility to advise my close friends and family to never do business here. Please understand if reading this that while I hesitate very very strongly when considering leaving less than positive reviews, this must be shared. If you know my sister or our family, you know that she has Autism, which makes it EXTREMELY difficult for her to talk to anyone not in our immediate family. Yes, she is so much more than her disorder and of course it doesn't define her, but the fact remains, she struggles every day to interact with people. Thanks to the work of my parents and her involvement with horseback riding plus a lot of great barn friends, she has gained a tremendous amount of confidence - confidence that was devastated today for absolutely no reason other than the horrible attitude of a business owner. My sister walked into this woman's store today to try on a jacket. She made a comment to a friend about the possibility of price comparing to a similar jacket she liked online. Her intention was to find one similar to one she had seen online with intent of showing our mom later for potential purchase. The purpose of her visit to the store was to hopefully find a jacket that was comparable and buy it! This highly innocent comment was taken out of context and Brenda, the owner, exploded (more than one witness has attested to this). She snapped and very aggressively told my sister that she has several friends who have lost businesses thanks to online shopping and that it's rude to use her inventory to try on a size. As a small business worker, I understand completely the need to grow and protect your business, but this was just vile. The way my sister was yelled at was completely unnecessary. Even worse, I see via Facebook that the owner's response to the situation is a flat out lie, and that she refuses to take accountability for a bad moment that deeply hurt a young girl. That's incredibly disappointing and telling, honestly. If she would have stopped to ask, she would have learned that my mom and sister have spent hundreds upon hundred of dollars on hunt coats, saddle pads and everything in between at her store, which will needless to say, never happen again. Our family friend attempted to calm the situation, while my sister sat stunned, and her reaction to our family friend was just as aggressive, never allowing an explanation. Brenda, I hope you know that up until a few MONTHS ago, my sister couldn't even order food by herself. She couldn't look at waiters, workers, or even extended family in the eye, and today could have been monumental to her confidence and progress. I am so disappointed that a quiet teenage girl could make you so angry, simply by wanting to be an informed shopper. Know that my sister has cried many embarrassed tears. It is my hope that she understands that she will not be treated this was every time she talks to a stranger. If your intention with your words, tone and attitude was to prevent business loss, you did the exact opposite. I feel very sorry for you. read more

This is a great store for tack, assorted sized bits, girths, halters, pads, breeches, shirts, blankets, sheets, fly spray, brushes- you name it. A nice and constant fresh selection of nice quality goods and brands such as Ariat, Crates, Professional Choice, etc. Brenda knows her products and is really helpful. For example- I have learned a hard lesson about Internet shopping and ordering items thinking I was getting a better deal, when instead, all I was doing was waiting longer to get something and often getting the wrong size (even though I was reading the sizing charts correctly.) Brenda helped fit me correctly into a medium Tipperary schooling helmet when according to the size charts online I was a large. The helmet ended up costing me less at Tack Warehouse than if I had ordered it online and I supported a local business, so I'm changing my mind about this online stuff. Lastly, I just got the most incredible deal on some Ariat Volant boots here that couldn't be beat online anywhere. I constantly stop in and check the sales rack and often grab cute shirts and sweatshirts for 50% off. The Brenda's Tack Warehouse Facebook page is really active and has coupons and sales posted a lot. I encourage anybody in the area to come here to shop. read more

Brenda and her team outfit our team with everything we need to succeed and made everything right when we needed to switch, swap, and generally make annoying changes to tack just because one fussy horse is, well fussy. They are the best. Frasier the dog and Alexa and Brenda are the best customer service people in the tack and riding business. After searching for forever fora new tack store this place is amazing! I have always gone to blue ribbon tack in Galt but it's closed now. The lady at the front desk was extremely helpful with breeches. Also she gave me a 50% off my half chaps because they were discontinued. Looking around they have everything! I mean everything! Unprofessional. Put down a payment on a George Strait Resistol hat for my father in December without taking it home. Put one down in January. Just now went to put my last payment down so I could finally give the hat to my dad and the girl behind the counter couldn't find it. They lost my hat. Most likely sold it to someone else. The manager, Pat, didn't seem to care much and almost made it seem like it was my fault for not knowing the size of the hat right away. (My dad picked it out. Sorry?) Luckily, I got money back after asking. However, I would never come back. Why give customers the layaway option if you're just going to sell their item? Beware of Tack Warehouse. read more

Very unhappy with the follow through with ordering items from their store. We took our daughter into the store on 1/22 to try on Ariat riding boots. They did not have her particular size and style in stock so we had them order them for us. We could have very easily ordered them online from another company and saved money, but we like to support local small businesses. I called 2 weeks after we placed the order and the guy I spoke with was very uninterested and said they should be in anytime and they will call me. It has now been a month and no phone call or contact of any kind. I even called again and left a message with no return call. Looks like I will be placing my order online with the other company. I really want to give this place 5 stars, and if I had reviewed them last week I probably would have. Sometimes they are really great and other times they are ... not so great. I think it all depends on who is working there that day. I bought two horse blankets from them in the last month, and I was really happy with both the selection, the products I ended up with, and the customer service (they were SO knowledgeable). However, today I called earlier to make sure they had the specific bell boot that I was looking for, and the girl on the phone confirmed that they definitely had them in stock. I asked if they would hold them up front for me, so I could quickly pick them up later that evening, and she said sure. When I showed up to pick them up, turns out that they didn't have it in stock at all. I live about a half hour away, and came to Woodland just to pick up these bell boots before I went out of town for the week. Normally, I don't mind a trip to Tack Warehouse, because they are such a fun store to shop at, but today I knew that I did not have an hour of my day to waste, hence why I called in advance. There also have been other times in the past where I have ordered things that were supposed to be shipped to me the next week, and the items did not show up for months. Which leads me to think that it really depends on who is working there at the time, and who places your order. Overall, this is a great local store that I like to support, however I expect better customer service. read more

I am so very disappointed in how we were treated by the owner, Brenda. I was the friend with Lexi's sister (see review below). Not only were we on the receiving end of one of Brenda's rants but she then proceeded to be completely dishonest about the situation to our trainer, her husband, and many other horse show attendees. I am not sure why she never approached me and apologized for her unprofessional behavior. I am assuming because she knows in her heart that she was wrong and couldn't look me in the eye and lie as she did to everyone else. She was so unprofessional in the way she treated us and the way she handled my complaint. This business used to be our go to tack store. After this, however, we will NEVER go back. If you have somewhere else you can shop for tack please shop there instead. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service experience. Started with a phone call where I was told there were 6 saddles in my daughter's size, both new and used. Drove 2 hours to find no saddles that size. Tried some others, nothing was quite right. Asked if they could measure my daughter to make sure she's the size I think and they say, are you going to buy something? Well, I would have, but now I'm not. Took my money to Loomis where they are friendly, helpful and have a way better selection. I suggest you do the same! read more

I have always received courteous, knowledgeable service from the staff and owner, Brenda. If something I want is not in stock, they will order it for me. If something is not as I expected, they always stand by their products. I was at a show this past week and even though it was 107 the first day - yeah, that hot! - Brenda and her staff were as helpful as ever.
