First time here. Music was a little too loud for my preference.The cashier had on a mask which made it hard to hear. Had to ask her to repeat herself multiple times. I ordered the Carne Asada Sopes with chips and queso. The size of the sope was nice. The flavoring was fairly bland. I grew up eating hispanic food and have had better. 6/10. The queso was okay. Nothing special 5/10. I'm willing to give it another chance. Maybe I should come back at a different time and order something else. Compared to Torchy's... A friend and I visited during Happy Hour on Thursday, June 13th. The restaurant was about 20% full so we easily snagged a table. Walking in, it seemed as though we were supposed to head to the register to place our order; however, one of the servers informed us that we can either order at the register or they could take our order from our table. We chose the latter option which gave ourselves more time to review the menu and ask questions. The Happy Hour menu drinkwise will get you a margarita, sangria, beer, or wine for $5. Foodwise, unless you get the Crispy Meat Spring Roll, it's not really worth it. The tacos (at least some if not all) listed on the Happy Hour menu are $5, but they cost $4 on the regular menu. Make that make sense... Table service was a bit slow, but the servers were very helpful in general. Since (1) it was my first time dining here, (2) I already committed myself to trying a variety of menu items, and (3) I was on the fence about trying their queso, I asked whether I could sample the queso in a small salsa cup. The server told me she couldn't do that, so I didn't order it. My friend asked me whether I was upset about that... Nope, I have no reason to feel bad about spending less money at an establishment than I would have otherwise. I ended up going to Torchy's for queso later that night, lol. Anyways, my picks: -- Margarita Bambera: average. -- Bamba Wings (chili garlic butter): these were supposedly "grilled" but they tasted broiled. The chili garlic flavor was pretty good but just not what I expected as I wanted the wings to be a bit saucier and these were dryyyy. -- Scott's Addiction taco: absolutely delicious. I wanted to try something unique to the RVA menu, and this taco is a nice compliment to the city. This single taco was very filling. -- Crispy Meat Spring Roll: very tasty. There's a lot going on inside this spring roll, but it works! -- Churros: mediocre. Good enough to chomp on but not so good that I would crave these in the future. While street cart churros are adequately greasy, these seemed air fried so they might be someone's cup of tea but not mine. The churros are served in an open cup with caramel at the bottom, but I prefer to dip my churros on my own. -- Pork rinds: ordered to-go. Nicely seasoned and made to order, but I've had better elsewhere. I'd still order these again, though. Unfortunately I didn't see the salsa station until I was leaving, so I didn't get to try any with my meal (except one of the amazing salsa verdes that was served with my food; I don't know which dish because everything came out all at once). So yummy! I enjoyed my food and drinks at the bar where the bartender was very nice and attentive. This place is very similar to Torchy's Tacos in Short Pump but I think this has more fun drinks! I had the Mango Mahal cocktail which was delicious. To eat I enjoyed the chips and guacamole, and two tacos. The Shrimp Bing Bang Boom & El Rooster Negro were both amazing. I'll definitely be back! I went with my daughter and friends, and folks - this place is good! We had never been before and were a little overwhelmed by their menu. We asked the young lady at the counter what she would recommend and she knocked it out of the park. We had the Scott's Addiction tacos (10/10), El Rooster Negro tacos (8/10), Taco Bamba tacos (6/10), and the dry rub chicken wings (10/10). We were really impressed. The Mexican corn was fantastic - no complaints! We also tried the Agua Frescas (watermelon, mango, and strawberry) and they were so good that we bought an additional bottle of each before we left. It is a small joint, but spots to sit down opened up pretty quickly. Overall, we had a great time. Would absolutely recommend. read more

I can't get enough of this place. The tacos are so juicy, I go through a stack of napkins on every visit. The flavors and seasoning on the tacos is insane! The menu has countless items, but I love the Small Biggie Smashburger, the Herky Jerky and the El Rooster Negro so much, I've never strayed from these three items. Staff couldn't be nicer, too! Maybe I came on an off day or maybe it's what I ordered but the food was mid. I came on a Saturday at 11:30am and there were only two other groups inside. I was welcomed right away and figured out I needed to walk to the back to order. Staff was very nice. I guess everyone ordered online for pick up just before I ordered because it took 20+ minutes to get tacos. We did get chips and salsa while we waited but the chips weren't warm and they could have used more salt. The salsa bar was fun and I like the mild salsa and the green one. Get two bags of chips if you are with someone else because one won't be enough. I ordered several tacos and a quesadilla. From the TACOS NUESTROS menu the BIG PERM'S CATFISH was pretty good! But SHRIMP BING BANG BOOM was not great. The first two bites were okay but then it's gochujang sauce soup. I couldn't finish it because it was so overpowering. Also got PORCHY'S quesadilla but whatever they put on it to make it "diablo" didn't taste good. Kind of like a fake barbecue flavor. I didn't eat much of that either. Finally got a Pescado Taco and a Camaron Taco and those were fine but not as good as the catfish. read more

First let me say the food is fantastic and the asada sope is the closest tasting and authentic sope I've had - very comparable with the ones I've had in Mexico and LA. Only one but pretty significant problem - Bamba's changed their policy if you're ordering Asada. Even if you show up in person, they only let you have it if you place an online order. We've never had to do this before at any other Bamba location and even at our previous trips to this Bamba. It was a hassle to have to pull out our credit card information and continuously check the to go order area despite eating in and being settled at our table. Additionally, we wanted to order MORE to our meal so we had to place ANOTHER online order, which was supposed to take them 30 extra minutes. But they were late to that time estimation by an additional 10-15 minutes. So we were hungrily waiting for the other half of a meal for 40 minutes. Carne Asada is one of the most popular and traditional meats of Mexican street food. Bamba shouldn't be making it this hard to get it. Not to mention - Bamba needs to prioritize their in-person customers who are waiting on to-go orders they were forced to place. Looks like we will not be coming back and we'll just order to-go. I called on my phone and asked for the manager and was hung up on also. We have been to Taco Bamba numerous times, and my wife wrote a glowing review in 2024. So we were so very honored to attend the pre-opening festivities (shoutout to one of our fellow CFF's) for RVA's newest @tacobamba located in Willow Lawn! We were greeted and felt very welcomed! We placed our orders with a very knowledgeable staff. Our togo order came out piping hot even with the size of the crowd they were feeding that day. (The tacos held up very well in transition also). I opted to try El Gringo (4.7/5),Scott's Addiction (3.8/5) Camaron Taco(4/5)and the black beans and rice (very well seasoned 4.5/5)! Please keep in mind I'm not fond of a corn tortilla but these were good and again held up very well. Mimi thoroughly enjoyed her food, she definitely said try the soup. What a great place to get some delicious tacos. I went here with a couple of friends looking for some flavorful food and oh boy did they deliver. We got a variety of tacos and all of them were amazing and don't even get me starting on the churros "They Were To Die For". The ambiance is similar to a dive bar mixed with a taco truck which I absolutely adored. To put the cherry on top the service was delightful and friendly. My friends and I were so excited to try out Taco Bamba in Willow! After our experience, we all decided the food was lack luster. We got the carne asada tacos, the Other fries, chili garlic wings, a torta, and a chicken quesadilla. All of the food was not that good. It was very bland. The meat and toppings were not seasoned enough. A plus is that the meat was tender and not chewy and our orders came fast, but we ended up not being satisfied. Taco Bamba is legit. The agua Fresca and the Jeffrey are great! I also have tried the dragon gordo, bamba wings, Scott's addiction, and choriqueso torta. Dragon gordo amazing. The wings were pretty good but not sure if I would get them again. The Scott's addiction had amazing flavor but I was left with a couple of pieces of fat that were inedible. The tacos here were fine. The service, however, was awkward. This is a fast casual restaurant, however there is no one manning the checkout registers. This means you have to order from the bartender. The bartender asks you how much you want to tip so that she can enter it into the tablet for you. This is awkward and not how tipping is supposed to work. I regret tipping. Waited 30+ min for food to come out, at which point they gave it to the wrong person so they had to remake ours. They then made a mistake so had to remake some of the order a third time. 3 of the 4 tacos were great but one was inedible. The Scott's addition (brisket) was so tough you couldn't bite through it.
