While living in Northern VA and working in Alexandria I often visited the Springfield location on my lunch break or with co workers. I usually only get the tacos and a house margarita but I wanted to try out the different food items they have since a new location was opened in Richmond VA. First shoutout to our bartender Scarlett! She was hooking us up with the different sauces and telling us which cocktails are her favorite. The space is a cool vibe that is also family friendly. They play great music so prepare to be singing along while eating and drinking. My bf and I ordered three cocktails of their menu (wood fire pineapple cocktail, house margarita with orange agave, and the frozen margarita). All very tasty and potent. For food we ordered the Jeffery, wings, a taco and the cup-o bamba with chorizo. Everything was hitting! The bartender, Scarlett, was the best server/bartender/cashier! She was so helpful, explained the best bang for my buck and my food preferences! The food was delicious and very filling. Buckle up Yelp, this is gonna be a ride. Walked in and was greeted by the bartender who told us we'd have to order at the register or we could sit at the bar and order with her. We sat at the bar on the most uncomfortable bar stools I've EVER sat on in my life. No seriously my ass was numb when we left. The bartender then proceeded to give us a "menu over view" which took 5min of her explaining the whole menu. I can read but after looking at this monstrosity of a menu I could see why. They name all their food weird names and everything they have is just a bunch of random ingredients piled on top of normal Mexican food. These tacos by themselves suck.... I guess their idea was to pile on a buncha random stuff and give it a funny name to take up for the fact that it's just a bunch of cheap ass ingredients. All my food was served in to go containers as if I ordered it to go (I did not). I ordered the street tacos which had 4 pieces of cilantro on it and a few slivers of onion. Other than that it was dry ass hell and lacked any flavor. Secondly, I had the enchiladas. What a disappointment. On the first go round I received 2 tortillas rolled up with shredded cheese (unmelted) with a salad on top and a over easy egg.... Huh? What is that? Where's the sauce? Why aren't they hot? Why the salad? Why the egg? Just weird. I asked if my order was correct and they took it back and used my meal as a teaching moment with their cooks. Who are all Spanish speaking btw. I'm pretty sure they grew up eating abuelias enchiladas and probably can make a better enchiladas than anyone in there. Maybe they need less training....just a thought. All in all it's a cool concept but it's just too much. My advice, Make 6-7 good tacos and a couple of other dishes very well and take the other crap off the menu. Pickles on a quesadilla? What??! Just weird. Won't be going back, there are plenty of real taco places around that are wayyyyyy better. read more

So freaking good! Pickup was easy. All the food was great. Going into the regular rotation for sure!

I ordered the queso and chips, crane adada and barbacoa tacos along with the Big Herm's catfish taco! The queso was hot and spicy but it tasted as if they only use velvetta and it was flavorful and spicy. The chips were your normal standard chips nothing to brag about. The carne adado tacos were served on a corn tortilla with cilantro and onions and ir was dry. The barbacoa taco was flavorful but I just don't like corn tortillas. My husband enjoyed the catfish taco and said it was one of the best he ever tasted.Lastly the cornwas fresh and tasty and not overcook. read more

This is just like Torchy's. Busy tacos that can't stand alone without all the extra stuff on them. I had the torta tradicional because of all the extra stuff on the tacos and the torta was alright... the bread was dry. Definitely not a place I would choose to come to again. Oh and the churros were stale and lacking common sugar This place is mediocre at best. Service was nonexistent. You order up at a counter and get your own food and salsa. Let's start with the lady at the register. So welcoming and acted like everyone in line was her best friend. Lots of different choices even for a vegetarian like me. The staff was very friendly. Great Food and service. However, I wish they would at least give paper plates. Placing the order and being handed a bag of chips make it hard to share. Also, the chips were tad to crispy, they tend to crumble when trying to pick up Guac (which by the way is delicious). Also, a wider bowl for the Guac could be why the chips crumble.. The Chicken Quesadilla was was fabulous . Will definitely return. Maybe sit at the bar the next time. Glad they have beer, but one has to sit at the bar for draft beer. read more

I lived in NOVA when Taco Bamba opened there and watched as they grew to multiple locations. I was excited to see this location open so close to my work and I've already done some catered lunches for the office with them (which is a big win and I highly recommend). For the money, you aren't going to find better prepared ingredients more thoughtfully put together with consistent quality. The menu is big but just the simple choices - especially the chorizo, Barbacoa, carnitas - are fantastic and filling. I'm a big guy and two tacos is enough for me and they each cost $4.5. A $9 meal that is tasty, high quality, filling and fast is hard to find these days and I have to say on the value score this place is 10 out of 10. They have a couple of tacos unique to this location, my favorite being the El Rooster Negro. There are some great taco shops around but not many pull of the combination of quality, reliability, and value. The breakfast situation is really good, too. read more

First visit here: Everyone was very nice and helpful with quick service as soon as you step through the door. Tried two margartias: seasonal strawberry and house margarita and both were delicious but the strawberry will keep calling me back Tacos are delicious. Tried Scott's addition (amazing and southern) spicy shroom (very spicy but great flavor), el rooster negro (love the spicy honey with the dark meat chicken), and the shrimp bing bang boom (messy to eat but well worth the napkins) Also added on the Jeffrey (egg roll) which was $5 on happy hour and it had great flavor and was unique. Foot long egg roll that made me think of eating a churro. Make sure you use the dipping sauce! read more

Came to try to place out since it was brand new and opened up and let me tell you the food was so fresh and on point. The service was A1, quick efficient and effective and it was very nice and humble. The prices were a great price. The drinks were solid and the ambience was truly nice. Got a to go order for the first time tonight. Was greeted immediately when I walked in and my order was ready right on time. I ordered a variety of items and really enjoyed them all. My favorite was the birria taco. The lamb was tender and juicy. The Cameron taco had great flavors that went well together. The grilled chicken in the arabe taco and quesadilla had great flavor too. What fun to have Taco Bamba come to Wiillow Lawn. I shared many menu items with co-workers. We had so much fun trying the food. OUTSTANDING!! The Jeneral is outstanding and the Ahi portion is very generous. The Spicy Shroom portobello a great twist for the vegetarian. The taco tradicionales outstanding variety, just to name a few. Scarlet always makes us feel at home and the food doesn't miss, whether were going for a drank or getting a bite.

I stopped in with my daughter after a comedy show last Sunday. Scarlet promptly greeted us and invited us to sit at the bar. She suggested chips and guacamole and recommended a couple of salsas she thought we would we would enjoy. She also told us about some local specific tacos that were amazing and a watermelon margarita that was very refreshing. She checked back with us several times to make sure we had everything we needed and loved what we got. I've tried this place a few times and overall it's not impressive. The food is inconsistent. The meats lack flavor. The barbacoa is ok. The carnitas is too sweet. The grilled chicken doesn't seem grilled, it's just chicken with sauce on it. The nachos and bamba fries haven't been the same each time I go. I guess it depends on what they have on hand or who's in the kitchen. Portions are small. The drinks are way overpriced for what you get. $13.50 for a margarita that is about 1.5 ounces of liquor is a lot considering the quality of the food. It won't be there long unfortunately. I loved this place! Had the Scott's Addiction and the Dragon Gordo tacos and both were delicious. Got the potato salad as a side, wasn't crazy about that, but they did give a big serving for $5. Would definitely return for the tacos and maybe try some other things. read more

So yummy and very well priced!! Was our first time trying so we got a little bit of everything and it was all delicious!

Carne asada, chicken Al pastor and machu pollo are my favorites. Also love their breakfast and free coffee
