Best Taco Bell location EVER! There's not much to say for the food. It's Taco Bell food. It tastes the same as any other Taco Bell location. If you haven't tried it, you should. It's definitely not authentic Mexican, but most people don't come here for that. And you shouldn't, especially not here in Chicago where tacquerias are everywhere. I do like that tacos and burritos can now be ordered "fresco style" which is slightly healthier and more refreshing. I also like to try their new stuff, currently the Doritos Tacos which are pretty good I must admit. I also love all of their drink options, like the limeades and stuff. So why does this Taco Bell get 5 stars? They have the NICEST staff ever. I get better service here than I do at most sit down restaurants. They talk to you through the intercom. They care about what you have to say. They are patient when you ask for specific ingredients. And they always look and sound happy. One time I left my wallet at home and they gave me the food any way. Who does that anymore? I was really beside myself. It's one of the few places where I actually called the survey number and gave them good feedback. They really are just that nice and deserve some kudos. I want to give this place a 5 star, but its a taco bell... HOWEVER, it is the best taco bell I've ever been to. I was extremely skeptical when my friends were talking about a 4.5 / 5 star taco bell in the wicker park / Chicago area. IT was a late Friday night (I was not drunk) and we went here. We ordered bacon chalupas nachos etc. If you have ever seen those taco bell commercials with awesome looking tacos nachos and chalupas etc, this is the taco bell that makes it like that. All the ingredients were fresh, and there was a perfect balance of sauce beans etc on the nachos and the bacon chalupas. Every single nacho had some type of sauce / bean stuff on it; I posted a couple pictures to show the ingredients in the chalupa. Unfortunately, its still a taco bell so ALAS, 4 stars. We used mobile order and waited about one hour and no food was ready. Ended up getting food somewhere else. When I arrived there were 3 people waiting at the counter already and they looked annoyed. One dasher told me she was waiting for one hour. There were 2 workers on the line making food. 1 worker breaking down the other line and doing dishes. If you're swamped that's the last thing to do. That third employee should jump on the line and help finish the orders. It seems like the workers had no idea how to make the food and how to push out the orders. They only make drive through food. Don't bother ordering in or using the mobile app. I've worked for another location for 5 years and this is by far the most disorganized store. I hope the RGM (if they even have one) hires employees who get the job done. People are out there hire the right ones. I'd suggest getting rid of some of your current employees. One made racist comments towards a door dasher. She said no cheese no cupo de cheese. That's not even how you speak Spanish. She had a rude demeanor towards him. He was just asking how long will it be by showing the dashers order on his phone. She then yelled out loud to the lobby that she's got no food and about to shut down the store. Ok so shut down the drive thru and prioritize the app orders and the customers who already spent their money. I'd love to talk to the manager about how they can problem solve cause clearly there's a lot of issues. Don't order from here don't use the app here and don't go thru the drive through. I used to go here a few too many times a week before they shut down for remodel so when they opened back up I was super stoked. The quality has just been so terrible every single time I've come here since they've reopened. Food is cold, rice is hard, bottom of the bag on nacho fries with just all of the cold hard little pieces. I don't know many, at first I thought I just had bad luck, but this is becoming pretty consistent. Today I ordered a spicy potato soft taco and got 6 little potato's and some lettuce and cheese lightly sprinkled on a hunk of raw tortilla. I must admit, I do enjoy taco bell food, even if an hour after eating it I generally regret it. But beyond all taco bells, this one stands out. When my friends decided to throw me a surprise birthday dinner at this Taco Bell, the entire staff welcomed the idea, made me special to order food that was not on the menu, and even made me a sign that said Happy Birthday Owen from Taco bell. It was fantastic and the best ting ever. And I mean ever. A worker had the same last name as me and we decided we were long lost cousins despite the difference in ethnicity and this followed with pictures, fun, and high fives. Basically, the group that works at this taco bell are efficient, fun, and nice. They know how to work, and make the customer laugh. Sometimes you have to make a run for the border, at least I do. I'm not exactly sure what "border" that is exactly (Oklahoma, Kansas, the Mason-Dixon?) because Mexico it is not. Taco Bell may not be authentic, but sometimes nothing else hits the spot. Like others have said this is one of the best Taco Bell's that I've ever encountered. First of all, everyone here is super friendly. Multiple times an employee has walked the store, checking on diners to make sure everything is alright. Second, they are efficient and the store (even the bathrooms) are clean. And last and most important, they don't screw up my food.* I don't eat beef or chicken and frequently order items like nachos requesting they hold the beef; this place actually does it. The TB I used to live by got this wrong at least 50% of the time. Sometimes they'd not only forget to leave the beef off, but add it to items that didn't even come with it! Until today, there were like 1 customer who ordered in front of me and I dont believe the drive through was too busy from what I saw. Wow, the staff here is amazing. I have never been to another fast food place with a staff as friendly and competent as this one. I was having a bad night yesterday, so we stopped here for some food therapy. The staff is friendly, the food is made fresh and quickly, and we had no mistakes at all even though our order was a bit complicated. When we asked for no sour cream on the nachos, the nice manager asked if we wanted more salsa or guacamole in place of the sour cream. It was also quite clean! Ordering food for a movie night with friends is always the best at taco bell. They always deliver the food freshly hot and right on time as what they set. They have the best pair of burrito and taco combinations along with favorite nachos perfect for six people. Movie nights are not perfect without a spicy burrito to eat. The delivery man will deliver the order in front of your home with the exact order you requested. Moreover, the food inside the carrying bag arranged accordingly, not messing up the tacos and burritos. Even before opening the bag, the smell immediately surprises you. The aroma is still fresh like it was made right in front of our house. The spicy taste and sourness are well balanced. Last time we went to this location, the manager was walking around asking everyone how their food was. And what drew me to actually review this place was that he came over and gave the kids the toys that come with a kids meal. We didn't ask for it or buy that meal... he just offered it. Needless to say, the kids were thrilled. A little extra effort can go a long way... even at a large "boring" chain. Regarding Taco Bell food... I love it. I think a lot of people that eat meat tell me the beef and other meats are low quality. But as a vegetarian, I like the food. One particular friend of mine that normally eats meat, gets veggie stuff at TB. For example, he gets the Mexican Pizza with beans substituted for the beef. The point is, he says it tastes much better than the beef version. That's the cool thing... you can get almost anything on the menu and just sub beans. I called a manager to comment and ask why they have become so bad and the manager cursed at me and hung up. This used to be a regular stop for me after Costco shopping. They used to have exceptional service and provide a great customer experience. I'm not sure what happened since they remodeled, perhaps there was a change in management? The exceptional customer experience is gone. Now they're both rude and incompetent. I don't plan on going back anymore. Two visits ago they double charged my credit card. Easy enough to fix with a call to the credit card company. On the last visit they we arrive at 10:55 am, my wife hurries in while I'm parking so she can still get breakfast menu. She's left waiting at the counter until after I come in (about 11:01). At this point someone comes to the counter for us to order. My wife inquires about breakfast. Someone comes out from the back area and barks at us that breakfast ended at 11:00, then immediately turns around and walks back where they came form--leaving the cashier there to deal with it. We walked out. This happened on Saturday, January 5, if anyone at Taco Bell wants to figure out which of their staff are permanently turning off customers. read more
