Waited 15 mins while they prepared the drive thru food (saw way more complicated meals on the line) and my simple tacos were never made. It's also crazy with their pricing. $1.99 for a soft taco, and $2.99 for a soft taco supreme?! The math doesn't add up. I grew up eating Taco Bell since I was a child. I decided last minute to go with my girlfriend. I was anticipating all the delicious memories I once had. I ordered a number 6 ( one of my favorites) the 2 chalupa meal with a crunchy taco. I took a bite into the chalupa. I think I went into shock because there was nothing there. It was a table spoon of lettuce and cheese and a teaspoon of beef. It was literally a chalupa shell folded over nothing. Completely revolting. I was riding my bicycle down clybourne from the city to my apartment in Roscoe village after a late night in the office and passed this taco bell. I rode my bike through th e drive through because of covid-19. I waited at the ordering screen for over 2 minutes but no one was responding or asking to take my order. The driver behind me started getting road rage and honking his horn furiously, i pull up to leave because im annoyed my order hasn't been taken. They immediately start talking in the speaker to take the driver's order. Wow, I really seem to have had the same experience as everyone else. These really are the nicest Taco Bell employees I have ever encountered in my entire life. Seriously. I really appreciate good customer service in all that I do, but this really was the most polite group of people ever. The drive-thru employees always give a nice "Hi, how are you doing" today and they actually sound sincere. Once you go around to the window, everyone is just really happy and smiley. I have no idea what it's like to love your job--I mean really LOVE it. I've liked jobs, sure. But I spend most of my time at work thinking up new and interesting ways to camouflage my farts and trying to see how long it will take for someone to notice that I don't have any shoes on. So it goes. The people at this Taco Bell act like they LOVE working at a Taco Bell...for real. I'm not just being a jerk. That's part of their thing. I mean, you usually pull into a Taco Bell thinking "Well, I'm about to do something real bad to myself, real bad and covered in sour cream." You don't think you're about to be greeted warmly, handed your food promptly, and told with a big smile to have a great day and enjoy the weather. You don't think that's a'comin' with that sour cream dream, do ya! Well, it is! So open wide! I've been through the drive thru at this T-Bell many times with many friends and many orders after many beers and realized each time just how many drunk jagoffs must roll through there every night of the week, screaming their orders and acting like total dildos. Still, these employees greet you every time with a genuine smile, an apparent absence of irritation, and a shit load of fire sauce. How do they do it? Honestly, I don't leave many reviews on Yelp, but I felt inclined to write one tonight. I was just at this location about 30 minutes ago and whoever was working the drive through was fantastic. My boyfriend is really particular about not having baja sauce on his cheesy gordita crunch and other Taco Bells mess it up all the time. They got our order 100% correct and we ordered about 10 different things with some special requests. Everything was super hot and I even had to blow on the cheese for my nachos to cool it off. It sounds crazy for a fast food place, but the lettuce and tomatoes on my chalupa were really fresh too. The main reason I'm writing this review though is because of the amazing service. The gentleman working the drive through tonight was SO polite and friendly and it was probably the best service I've ever had in a drive through. He made sure we had every sauce we needed, asked if I preferred a fork or a spork for my rice and smiled. Honestly, this is the best Taco Bell I've ever been to. I live right by the Wicker Park location on Milwaukee, but we go out of our way to go to this location because it never disappoints. The other one in Wicker Park has a SUPER friendly staff as well, but for some reason the food at this location is just the best. Ok, now that you've stopped laughing, I'm dead serious. The manager at this Taco Bell is genuinely a smiley, nice, personable, happy person. He greets you and is very engaging. He walks around to see how your meal was, and offers you a mint. And, he is so sincere about it. Not cloying at all. And, based on the few times I've been here (cuz I didn't want to wait for tubed meat at Costco, which are cheap and delicious but not worth the wait), there are quite a few regulars with whom he chats while checking on guests. I'm telling ya, this guy is seriously so much more charming and personable than many hosts/managers at the upscale fine eateries this city has to offer. I've gone so far as to write Yum Brands to let them know. IF you like Taco Bell, AND you are in the area, I hightly recommend you stop here. Taco Bell food is regrettable. I am so happy- SO HAPPY- that this Taco Bell is getting so much love. I never thought I'd review a fast food place, but seriously... this Taco Bell is magical. My boyfriend and I have taken to calling this location "Polite Taco Bell." The drive-thru greets customers with a "What can I make for you?" When I hear that, any guilt I had about treating myself fades away- they're making the food JUST FOR ME! :D They always ask how my day is going, and never ever make customers feel rushed. Up until recently, they even gave MINTS with the food. This has stopped as of late, but the fantastic customer service hasn't. One of the places I love to love. Yeah I love Taco Bell. It rules and has always been my #1 favorite fast food place (ever since it moved into a gas station near where I grew up. Ah, memories). This location is pretty scha-weet. It's very convenient and I always can talk my laundry date to stop in after a hot session of fluff and fold. As for the service? I mean, it's Taco Bell but they always mess up my order. 1 crunchy, 1 soft is that so haaaaarrrrd??? I like to order the two-taco kids meal because it comes with cinnamon twists (and a toy!). But make sure you ASK for those twists because otherwise they just toss in some nacho cheese and call it a side of nachos. ???
