They are running takeout only at present, but they do have a picnic area out back. I ordered online, and was a bit miffed that their lunch tacos don't start until 11, as I had no desire to try an egg-y breakfast taco, and trying to get my phone to customize them was just a hassle (though I'm glad the option was there). The vegan taco I sampled had sweet potatoes on a taco that is somehow made out of plantains, but the best part of it for my money was the black beans. My cheese taco was crisp and delicious with a more traditional (and excellent) corn tortilla. Had I been hungrier, there were certainly other sides and things I could have eaten. I have a soft spot for Asheville and definitely for Taco Billy. I spent about 6 months in Asheville last year and frequented this spot plenty. Let's state the overly obvious, nothing is as good as the breakfast tacos you can get off a food truck in southern Texas. However, for a spot in North Carolina, this is pretty great. I love the salsa, guacamole and the migas taco (add avocado). A lot of people like their plantain tortilla - it's not my personal fave, but to each their own! Service is always pleasant and pretty dang quick. We came in on a holiday weekend and they had an unfortunate circumstance of being a grill down and they still got our food out in about 30 minutes even with the line going out the door. On a normal day however, I think I waited 5-10 minutes tops. The immediate area has Harvest Records and Hole Donut. You should check out both. I miss Asheville just writing this review. read more

Once upon a time I lived next to taco billy. And I went at least once a week. And I still feel like I really shorted myself. Now, seven years later, the prices have increased by 30 to 40% but I don't even care. This is one of my top breakfast and brunch spots and all of Asheville and will always be. Plus for the price, you get a hell of a lot of taka. I feel like 1.5 would sustain me but I always end up getting two. The place has expanded but the decor remains unique and adorable. I love finding all of the little Billy goats. They have a nice little outside seating area and plenty of space indoors. Recently I've been taking it to go though. They wrap everything so well that it stays warm through the car ride. I feel compelled to mention this parking situation here. It's absolutely horrendous. Plan to walk. Sad day. They serve delicious coffee and they have great brunch alcohol drinks as well. You can't forget the turbo Chico or the homemade teas. All of their preplanned tacos are stellar but you can make your own at a very reasonable price too. Of course I love the Billie Holiday. Well all of the Billies to be honest. Love the variety of tacos they offer. It was very crowded when we went but we were able to grab a table for ~10 and tables turned over quickly. We waited less than 10 minutes for our tacos which was amazing considering how busy they were. We got the Migas (8.5/10), mama's favorite (8/10), and the morita (7/10). All of the tacos were very flavorful and stuffed. My favorite was the midges which was so so flavorful and filling. Mama's favorite is my next favorite since the plantain tortilla was delicious. The tacos are so unique and they have A flour or corn or their unique plantain taco shell. Taco Billy's makes these plantain tortilla. You can have them On your taco or buy a dozen at a time. These tacos are so unique they're not small they're a large size. The combinations are so wonderful you've got to try everything some of the best tacos I've eaten and definitely the best in this area. We were sad that we found this place on our last day of visiting Asheville. On the other hand, what a great breakfast taco send off as we began our long multi-day drive home! Tacos were stuffed to the brim mostly flour tortillas, very mediocre. This place has great reviews, we must have whiffed on our choices but we picked about 6 different tacos to try. The Little Sister veggie taco was delicious but the rest were kind of meh. Don't remember exactly what others we got but it was a pork, 2 chicken tacos, and a beef one. To be honest the chips I received were kinda stale, the guac was just ok(over puréed) and the green salsa was simple to the point of ignorable but really who need that stuff when the tacos are so good as is! This is such a unique and amazing taco place! I live near west Asheville and can't believe I had never been here until today! The tacos are huge and such unique possibilities. It's November 2021. This place is so worried about the virus that they don't want you inside. They have you order outside or online. They have outdoor seating and an tent enclosed outdoor patio. If you eat there,they want you to bus your own table, but then don't bother to clean it. So which is it? Are they worried about the virus or are they just using it as an excuse? Because if you're worried about the virus wouldn't you clean the tables? We were the first customers of the day and the table looked like it hadn't been washed in a week. I used a sanitized wipe for three seconds and it was full. Others were having to clean their own tables as well. If this is what you are okay with customers seeing, what does the kitchen look like that we are forbidden to see? The service was terrible. A lady came to deliver one of our orders, saw me cleaning off the table and didn't offer assistance. Our orders were delivered 16 minutes apart so the first person was done eating before the second got their food. The food itself wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. We came here as our original place that we were planning on going were closed for the new year. But, what ultimately came down to is that the price isn't what is worth the taco. The price of each taco was $4.50 per taco (lunch). So for instance if you just wanted 3 tacos (usually the quantity of amount of tacos per order) you're looking at a $14.50 dish. For me and our 4 tacos it was $20, and well we were still kind of hungry after that. So I think if you're coming here, I hope you have a light appetite and you're not going here to get stuffed. The tacos themselves were bigger than the average size. The tacos that we got were the Yard bird and the Santi. Overall they weren't bad and it was tasty. The reasoning for the review is that I wouldn't be a constant customer, because I think you could get better for the price (at least 3 tacos!). Maybe it's comparable to the area, and if that's the case then you're kind of stuck with preference. This spot is cute, limited parking, and overall serves pretty good tacos. Is it worth it? By far the worst tacos I have ever had. In addition the guacamole and chips was hard to eat also. The chips for the guacamole was overly salted, you had to brush the salt off each chip before eating them. The tacos lacked any flavor. I assume the tacos were under salted because they used it al on the chips. One of the best restaurants in Asheville. The menu is simple(mostly just tacos), but fresh and prepared with care and intentionality. And it has just enough variety to suit a big group.
