I'm not one to write reviews as most restaurants are cookie cutter in decor and the food though good is not something to write home about. Not only that I am not a huge fan of TexMex so it wouldn't be a fair review in my mind. That being said Orale's is a hidden gem. From the moment you walk into the restaurant with its bright and colorful decor you know it's different, it's just got a different feel than other restaurants. I noticed right away where most restaurants now a days are understaffed this one not only had an abundance of staff, but the staff was also friendly and attentive. Though probably something most people wouldn't notice or care about I was pleasantly surprised to see the TV's not only showing you sports like basketball and golf but one was showing bass fishing and a dog show. As a person who is not interested at all in sports it was a nice change to know I could come to a bar and see something on that I might actually want to watch. As for the food I ordered coffee and a steak quesadilla. The coffee was served in the cutest cup they should offer those for sale I would have bought one, and the food was amazing. For someone who doesn't much care for TexMex my steak was juicy, tender and seasoned well and there was nothing left to take home is how much I enjoyed it. We will most certainly be back. read more

Orale's is definitely five star Mexican restaurant! I had the chicken enchiladas blancas, drowning in white queso, topped with a unique and delicious pineapple fruit relish and corn cake on the side. I don't remember what margarita I got but was great and love how they serve with an additional tequila shot on the side. Awesome bar as well, huge slab of wood spanning the entire length of the restaurant with multiple tvs. I didn't think their chips were anything special so might skip those next time. read more

We tried Orale's last night and it was ok. We walked right in and got seated which was great for a Friday night but everything else was a wait. They definitely need more staff. It took a good 10-15 min. to get drinks and give our order. Hubby ordered large cheese dip and it came 1\3 full of this HUGE bowl @ $12.99 which I thought was high considering it's not listed on menu. I had a margarita which had very little taste for $8 and we both had texas fajitas. After waiting a good 30-45 min. for our meal only 4 shrimp, which customary usually 6, was disappointing. We get this combo at most mexican places we go. Plus I had shrimp that still had vein which I hate having to clean my own shrimp during meal. A little more attention to detail would be good. The rest of the meats we're good with good flavor. Overall for a $70 meal for us I think we'll stick to other local Mexican places. May try them again down the road when they have more time to get established. read more

Ordered the Machacas which was on special. It had scrambled eggs, veggies, shredded beef, rice, and beans. The eggs were scrambled well, and the veggies included onions, bell peppers, and zucchinis. Ordered takeout-it was ready very quickly and the host was super friendly. I walked through the restaurant to the salsa bar (delicious and fresh!) and it was very clean with a spacious bar area. Ambience is very vibrant and nice. Music was a bit loud for lunchtime. Service was ok, the younger girl who took care of our table was not very knowledgeable and was not able to accommodate our request to substitute beans for the meat. There were other staff taking care of removing plates, etc. The food was not up to the mark(therefore 2 stars) - there was no spice in the spicy green enchiladas - super disappointing. My wife and I decided to give Orale's a try after hearing so many positive reviews. We left feeling pretty disappointed. Positives - Service was very prompt and friendly - The chips were fresh, thin, crispy and warm - Bean dip and salsa bar were tasty - Restaurant seemed clean - Food was hot and arrived quickly Negatives - The meal itself. I had a combo meal with two shredded beef tacos and a cheese enchilada. The tacos were soggy from the enchilada. The meat, while pretty tender, lacked flavor. The cheese enchilada was one of the worst I've had. It was flavorless, wet and soggy. The rice and beans were not very memorable. I expected a lot better based on the high praises from others. With so many Mexican restaurants in the Asheville area I doubt I will return anytime soon. read more

Just enjoyed our first meal at Orale's and it is now on our favorites list. Tried the camarones burrito and pollo fundido lunch specials today and both were just right in taste and portion size. The chicken was dressed with fresh baby spinach and mushrooms in a lovely cream sauce and accompanied by a nicely dressed little salad and rice and beans. The shrimp in the burrito was plentiful and nicely sauced as well. And the flan was outstanding - with caramel, chocolate and whipped cream garnish. Plus server Tanya was really really nice, efficient and helpful and the ambiance spotlessly clean and very attractive and colorful. Looking forward to trying their dinners and drink specials soon! Nice decor, nice servers, decent sasa bar (wish they had a spicy red sauce), their special spicy burrito is the best I have ever put in my mouth. This is probably our favorite Mexican restaurant of this type in Asheville. It's a really good value and the portions are generous. There's a salsa bar and the light green one, I'm guessing cilantro garlic, is good. Unlike salsas at other places it's thicker and not as runny which I think is better. The garlic sauce/paste on the shrimp/fish al mojo de ajo is really tasty, and REALLY garlicky. It's great on the seafood/vegetables and went well with the rice. The meat on the fajitas was cooked well and the tableside guac, however gimmicky, was delicious. The sauce on the chile verde was a bit more sour than I'd prefer and the meat was a little on the drier side but all in all, our meal was fantastic and priced very well. read more

We tried this place for the first time and unfortunately, it will be our last. The restaurant decor is very nice but for us, that was it. The service was good. The food was just okay. I ordered the avocado tostada, added beef. Problem was, there was hardly any beef added and the avocado was brown. We ordered side of guacamole, didn't care for it. Let's talk about margaritas, there was no alcohol in my skinny margarita, but there was plenty of ice! Paid $10 for ice, basically. With that said, why are there no prices on the margarita menu? That is a huge miss for us. I shouldn't have to ask how much it is before I order. With no pricing, does that mean they can just charge what they want each time? I would suggest being a bit more transparent on drink prices to avoid upset consumers. Lastly, and what really sealed the deal for me was when we paid the bill. We gave her our credit card, and when she went to hand it back, she wiped her nose with our card in the same hand that she wiped her nose with. Which reminds me, the server also had his finger inside our plate when serving our food. Pro tip, do not put your fingers inside customers plate. Fingers and hands should be under the plate. This should've been taught in a food safety class. It's a nice spot, but needs some attention to details and better margs! read more

We just happened upon this place and decided to grab a quick bite. To our surprise this was a standout among the average Mexican food that literally is on every corner these days. The food came out quickly and was very tasty with that homemade flare. You can tell these folks serve it up like you are sitting in there home around the family table. The staff were very professional and friendly. The drink specials were excellent and they use top shelf as a house brand for tequila. Definitely a+. The staff made me gave this place 4 stars vs 3 stars. Staff were very nice and attentive. Other Mexican places have decent service but they do a lot better here. The food compared to other places in Asheville is better than some, but other places do a better job in my opinion. The ambiance is nothing exciting and in strip mall. Limited signage, so people new to area could have a hard time finding the place. The prices were good and for Asheville that is great. Overall a good experience. read more

" SICK TWICE" ... 6 weeks ago I ate at this place and several hours later I became sick. I did not write a review because, at the time, i was not sure it was because of this places food. "HOWEVER" a few days ago I tried this place again and within 2 hours I was throwing-up, feverish and had chills too. I am 1000% sure this food was ""CONTAMINATED"". God forbid a child get this sick this fast. It would be terrible! I have told friends and family about this inexcusable experience and WILL NEVER eat again or recommend this slop pit!!! The server greeted me with a smile knowing there was something wrong with the food. I should sue them!!! There are many far many better Mexican restaurants than this place.
