[LOCATION/PARKING] Taco Chon is located inside the new gas station off Western/Haltom Rd. Ample parking spots. When you walk in the gas station, Taco Chon will be in the back area of the gas station. [SERVICE] Taco Chon is a family-owned joint and the daughters are working the front while mom and dad are working on your food in the back! The entire family is very nice and welcoming and you'd have no trouble ordering your food here. All the food came out in a decent amount of time. I've never had a long wait for my food. They accept card and cash. [FOOD] I am definitely a big fan of the tacos and elotes here! They have different types of meats you can choose from. I have tried barbacoa, asada, pastor, carnitas, and chorizo on corn tortilla. My favorite are the pastor, carnitas, and asada tacos! Tacos are $1.75/each. The meat-tortilla-onions ratio is perfect and the tacos aren't soggy at all. They have 3 different types of sauces (green, red, and yellow sauce) and I'm a big fan of all of them. I forgot which peppers were in each one but would definitely recommend giving each of them a try to figure out your favorite! The small size for elotes is $3.50 and you really get alot for what you pay for. They have lots of seasonings (e.g. lemon pepper, chili powder, etc.) and sauces you can put on your elotes. read more

Not impressed... tacos I got were barbacoa and pastor; subpar, had better. But the biggest let down was the sopes ! What Mexican taco spot uses actual sour cream instead of Mexican creama or cotija cheese which instead was replaced with regular shredded cheese. Not authentic. The daughter of the owner was nice and courteous. The only thing I enjoyed was the chicharrón and salsa. Actually the chicharrón was fire ! If I go back it would be to get a hefty serving of it ! Food in a gas station! Street tacos you would expect from a local taco truck. The location has a few bar stools at the cooking counter but no sit down space. If you are in the area and want a few tacos it definitely is worth the visit. The hottest hot sauce is habanero based and can add some heat if that's your thing. The steak tacos come with cilantro and lime kind of standard for street tacos. Add some lime. Definitely will go back and try some other tacos. I don't believe they have a drive trough. read more

Wifey is from LA (Los Angeles) and is always looking for good tacos de asada so when she told me that this joint was opening up, I was excited to see what was in store for us. First things first, if you're looking for a nice place to sit down and have the full on server/patron experience, this isn't the place since It's inside a gas station and seating is a sit-up bar. Don't let that dissuade you though...the food is definitely worth it and, more than anything, full of soul! I ordered their loaded nachos with al pastor, wifey ordered a taco de asada and a tacos de al pastor, our two kids had a taco de asada and pollo. As soon as I saw the owner pull out a handful of tortillas, cut them in quarters and fry them for my nachos, I knew this was going to be good! The serving sizes for both the tacos and nachos were very impressive and were only topped by the flavors of the proteins. The al pastor was seasoned very well and the carne asada was probably some of the best we had in DFW (super tender and juicy)! Perhaps the biggest surprise was that my 7 y/o son (who's SUPER picky) ate not one but two tacos! I looked up from my plate and saw him attack the taco de asada with reckless abandon! The ONLY reason I gave this place a 4 star (and BTW...WTH can't we give 4.5 stars!!??) was because the nachos had unmelted shredded mozz instead of a cheese sauce. Came here for the first time, they're located inside of a gasoline station called Ducky's Mart. We got 6 street tacos, 2 of each, marinated pork, grilled pork, & chicken. First let me start by saying the customer service is great and very helpful, they accept all forms of payment. The flavor to me of the tacos and rice was a little blend, especially with the grilled pork, equivalent to carnitas. Great spot! We always enjoyed them when they were a food truck, and now with counter seating available, it's much better to dine in the new location. It's in a gas station, but do have some seating. Saw Taco Chon here on yelp and the great reviews, so we decided to give them a try. Called in our order and told them I was 10 min away...they were very friendly! My order (Combination steak tacos, steak tostadas, and elote) was ready when I got there and they made sure I got all the kinds of hot sauce I wanted. I tried this place for lunch yesterday. I got the combination plate with three tacos, rice and beans. I had two Al Pastor tacos and one Carne Asada. The Pastor meat was delicious...flavorful and not overly spicy. The Asada had a great smoky taste and the beans and rice were exceptionally good. While I was waiting for my food I saw a large pan of chips and when I asked the gentleman who was waiting on me what they were for, he said they were for the nachos. The chips were clearly homemade and i'm going to have to try the nachos next time. The only downside is that they're closed on Tuesdays so I can't go back today.
