Their red and green housemade hot sauces are on point too. There's a lot of Mexican restaurants in the area, but this is always our "go too" spot for good tacos. It didn't disappoint. The place is a small, clean, plaza restaurant with a polite staff. The menu is typical for a Mexican restaurant and we ordered taco dinners (mix-n-match choice of meat, with rice and beans). We cleaned our plates satisfied and headed out. How ANY Mexican restaurant can screw up nachos and tacos is beyond me! Lots of classic favorites such as burritos. There's not that much room inside, so many people call in orders. About as authentic for Mexican as you can get but still accessible enough for average Americans. It has a pretty simple menu. They have the basic stuff. Lots of classics. There's the beverages too. It's about $3 for a Corona. They have better choices for the food though. Each of us got a Vegetariano Burrito. It's about $8 for a lot. This comes stuffed with beans, rice, and vegetables. Also you get the chips. These are enough for a meal. Come in for just authentic enough. It's better than it looks. So we both at the same time typed in shrimp tacos in our maps app and El Barrio showed up immediately with positive reviews. I can definitely confirm they did not disappoint. Used to be good. The food quality just seems to get worse and worse.. especially the steak. I can't tolerate grisly steak meat in my tacos. The Al pastor used to taste marinated and yummy,now it's just-ehhh it doesn't look like it's being cooked the same way. The enchiladas were my favorite thing to get here, but the last 3 times there was an issue. 1st-burnt meat,2nd wrong meat and wrong sauce,3rd DRY enchiladas(see picture) with barely any sauce,no cheese and there were pieces of pork on the edges as if someone used the same spatula to lift it,after another order-yuck! I am in this area at least three times a year with my frans and El Barrio is officially our kicking it spot! Absolutely love the menu. Between our entire group we've probably tried everything on the menu from shrimp tacos to Papas con Chorizo sopes. The food is absolutely amazing. The staff is incredibly friendly. There is a lovely young girl who is always on the register when we work and two friendly guys in the kitchen. During my last trip I had the margarita and it was delicious and enjoyed by all 6 of us the ordered it. For the price, the food quality is exceptional. I can't wait to visit again soon.
