I've been here a couple of times since 2020. I love the beach theme dining section. Makes me feel more relaxed. LOL! Just missing the beach waters. So far I've had Fish Tacos, Lobster Tacos and the Super nachos. All of them were yummy! Come in on Tuesdays for their taco deals. I've not have any issues. Service was great. I went here for dinner another individual after we planned to catch up. We haven't been to this particular spot in a while and were excited to come back. We got our usual, two burritos and it looked great. Food was delicious and service was fast. The reason I am leaving one star is due to something unsanitary I viewed. As we were eating, an older woman whom was nice, picked up some chips and dipped them in the reservoir they keep their beans in to scoop for customers. Her whole hand was in there scooping for refried beans on her chips. It may seem small but as someone else who also has worked in food and customer service you truly do not know where others hands have been and cannot assume they are clean. my niece had a wedding this weekend and Taco Del Mar Puyallup was PAID to cater their wedding. Well, they showed up 1 HOUR LATE to a WEDDING when it was very clear the arrival time & set up. Was there an apologetic response? NO! was there any compensation for making 100+ people wait for their food?? NO! just a nasty attitude, with nasty words... at least an apologetic attitude would've been fine, but when asked to discount or refund partial to the bride & groom since they DID NOT RECEIVE the ON TIME delivery, this lady completely dismissed it AS WELL AS REFUSING TO APOLOGIZE FOR HER TARDINESS!!!! First time ever having my taco constructed with meat (fish) being placed on last. Very difficult to eat and super messy. Onions in pico seemed off, not fresh. Their fountain machine was scary, water dripping all over I'm assuming from ice maker onto the container held lids. 3 plastic bowls at bottom of counter to collect water. I had unsweetened tea with no ice. The beverage machine felt unsafe and I hope that everything I'm eating is sanitary enough. I'll stick to a different location. read more

If I could give this place a negative 10 stars I would. The food is disgusting. The owner is very rude. I had a big takeout order to make, and the lady "owner" was very inpatient and kept rushing me, and cutting me off before I was finished talking. Mind you there was no one standing in line waiting behind me and only one person eating in the restaurant. I was so frustrated by her lack of customer service, especially being the owner of the establishment. If you don't want to take a big order in your empty restaurant then I will take my business elsewhere. When I finished my order, I thought it was weird that it came out super fast. When I asked to check the bags to make sure my order was correct, the owner refused to let me. When I got back to my car, sure enough I was missing 2 burritos and 3 tacos. I went back in to let her know about the missing items, she rolled her eyes and yelled at me saying "Wait", and tossed me a bag with my missing items. I will never come back here. And the three ladies were so rude to us and very stingy with the portions. A man walked in after us and she takes his order before me. Alright a few cons that have happened lately. They hired this larger white woman who is very stingy with the scoups of everything... she levels it off and i ask for a bit more she tries to charge me.... not cool. I pay extra for guac and your gunna give me just a tiny bit? Also i come here often and i ring up my burritos seperate so i can use my 5dollars off on the next one. Well i tried to do that and he was very mad at me and gave me a horrible attitude. I was confused and scared and just said "i was going to do them seperate that way it works" and he got frustrated and voiced how annoyed he was with me. I ended up getting the discount but it made me feel really awkward and hurt/offended by how i was talked to. I work customer service and thats now how you talk to paying customers. Especially regulars. Skipping this taco del mar and going somewhere else im very hurt. read more

If you are a vegan in Puyallup you will be hard pressed to find decent food in this town, but never fear a small fast food restaurant has your back. This place delivers on vegan food, and it is cheap. If you say, "vegan" there, they know what you want. You don't have to stop someone from throwing pork in your taco, and as always it tastes great as well. Eating in might be a bit non-aesthetic, but take out is fine. I have frequented this establishment for well over 10 years, and I am appalled at the customer service that we received from the OWNER this evening. My boyfriend went to pickup dinner for us and our son. I requested a Baja bowl with ground beef. Well needless to say, he gets home with our order and my Baja bowl has no rice, which is listed as the first ingredient in the description therefore that typically means that it is the dominant ingredient. So my boyfriend goes back to have them remake it properly, and the owner took no ownership of that massive oversight on their behalf, and would not remake my Baja bowl properly, she only offered to "put some rice on top." Therefore, by the time that he got back home with my food, not only would his have been cold because he had to go back, but mine would be also. I try my hardest to support local small businesses, especially in times like these, but this is ridiculous. An employee made an error, and we had to pay for it financially. That is absolutely unacceptable. I do fully understand the struggles that many small businesses face during times like these, which is partly why I find this unacceptable. If you're trying to acquire/perpetuate incoming customers/funds for your business, poor customer service and making people pay for your employees mistakes is not a way to help a small business be successful. Customer service is first and foremost with any business. And this franchise location is clearly not a good or even mediocre example of that. I will be going to the Canyon road location from now on. First of all, I don't get why this is mapped wrong. The address is correct, but the pointer is nowhere near 38th & Meridian. That's not the fault of Taco Del Mar, it's just not THERE. It's right next to TJ Maxx (same shopping center as BECU, Jamba Juice, Petco, Office Depot, Starbucks, etc.) across from South Hill Mall. So if you're looking for it, ignore where the maps say it is, because you won't find it. Anyway, I usually really enjoy Taco Del Mar. That is, I really enjoy OTHER locations. This one has left me disappointed time and time again. They are incredibly hit and miss, and it's almost always a BIG FAT MISS. Even when the SAME person is making the SAME thing side by side, they come out completely different. One will be overflowing while the other one looks like it was made for a small child. Sometimes there isn't very much meat. Sometimes there isn't very much ANYTHING. Last time we were there, my husband and I both ordered a Mondo Burrito. The same girl made them both at the same time. His was huge. Tons of rice, beans, and a lot of meat. Mine looked like something I could get at Taco Bell for less than half the price. The first time it happened (the other way around that time, so I know it's not just me), I thought it was a fluke. The second time, I thought maybe it was because I ordered it weird (I asked for just a small amount of beans). But the hit and miss ratio is just way too lopsided, and after the last time, I won't be going back. I didn't say anything other than "Yes, please" to all the ingredients and what kind of meat and sauce I wanted on it. But all of the portions were incredibly lacking compared to the burrito sitting not six inches away from it!! For what a Mondo burrito costs, I don't think it's too much to expect some consistency in the amount of mondo in my burrito. That said, I've never had this issue at other locations, ONLY this one. Every other location I've been to seems to have standardized portions in standard quantities. This is the only location where I've consistently walked away feeling gypped. 1 star because they're at least nice while they rip me off. +1 more star for using Pirq. I MAY go back just to fill my Pirq card and get my $5 dollar discount. UPDATE 08/13: Removing a star. If I could remove both, I would. I just went back to use my $5 Pirq discount and guess what? They don't use Pirq anymore, and wouldn't even honor my FULL Pirq card!! Clearly these people don't care about their customers at all. I will NOT be returning to this place EVER again. I got 2 tacos and they were really nasty. They do some weird steaming thing to the tortillas and it's makes them so soggy! They charge you a dollar on EACH taco if you want guacamole and .50 on EACH taco if you want sour cream which is very stupid. Their Pico de gallo was soggy! I also brought one of their "Oreo brownies" it was horrible, not only did I not taste any "Oreo" flavors but it was so dry and definitely tasted like it was gluten free!
