Burritos California or in other parts of town California Burrito has just opened up on 38th where a hamburger place once was. We were waiting for this spot to open for a little while and like the idea that we can get late night food (using the drive up) should the need arise which sometimes arises. There was a burrito I had my eye on when I last visited a location and that was the Chile Relleno Burrito which I took the opportunity of getting. It was a nice, huge burrito and I couldn't finish it all so I ate what was left over the next day and it was still good. Definitely something to be concerned about normally with eating fast food or quasi- fast food for next day leftovers but the burritos we got held up well for a decent sized lunch the next day. I love Chile Rellenos so I was pleased it was nice and tasty for both days that I had it. We also split a very tasty bean tostada. I have had these before and liked them then and that opinion hasn't changed from the last visit. Convincingly fresh (regardless if it actually is or not) and tasty makes this a nice side with your meal with just a touch of hot sauce. So all in all another solid Burritos California experience and I am very excited to utilize it again whenever the need but more than likely a want would arise again. read more

I thought I really liked this place. Even though they have no cilantro. Whoever heard of a Mexican place having no cilantro? The carnitas burrito was delicious. Until I got 3/4 of the way in. The major problem I have with this place is evidenced in the photo provided. Sticks? Why are there sticks in my burrito??? How dangerous is this? I did not delve deeper to find the k, e, and s to finish the word "yikes"! I thought I'd found a good carnitas burrito even without the cilantro, but I won't be returning. If anyone goes there with kids, make sure they take careful bites and chew their food thoroughly. read more

I specifically asked for no onions, and the person taking my order even confirmed it multiple times--yet my tacos still came loaded with onions. That alone was frustrating, but it didn't stop there. The three beef rolled tacos I ordered were cold and tasted like they'd been sitting out or reheated from frozen. Definitely not fresh. After picking all the onions off the carnitas tacos, they turned out to be dry and pretty disappointing as well. No lime or any extras were included either, which didn't help. Coming in here, the colors are very bright and inviting. The old table and chairs still remind me of burger ranch. The staff are very friendly and open to giving recommendations. At this point, I am done going back to this restaurant! They have lost all motivation and are doing a very poor job. Since my first review, I've gone back quite a few times and instead of improving, things keep getting worse. The time before last, I ordered a bean tostada. The woman took my order through the intercom but then when I pulled up to the window, she informed me that it would take them 40 minutes to make my order. No one who works here seems to speak more than 10 words from the English language so I guess you should only go here if you speak Spanish. The last time I visited was Saturday night after work. I pull up to the intercom, and they never even say welcome to or thanks for choosing; how can I help you or may I take your order. No, I get HELLO? HI? through the speaker as if I've been sitting there and not answering her. I order the same bean tostada and then ask her if they will be able to make my order or if it will take 40 minutes. She doesn't understand me and after a period of silence, another employee's voice comes across. I repeat my question however, the music that they are playing inside of the restaurant is so loud that she can't hear me. I lean out of my window and shout right into the microphone and ask if my order is able to be made. She says they should be able to make it because it's pretty easy. I pull up to the window and even though they know I have to stretch across my car to interact with them through my passenger window, she barely reaches out to get my payment card. Then when she brought my food out, she hardly leaned out to hand it to me. When I got home, the food looked terrible. The portion was way smaller than usual and most of it was off of the side of the tortilla. They may as well call themselves Taco Bell if they're going to serve up crap like that. I had to scoop my toppings up with a knife and try to rebuild my tostada. See my photos and that's after my repair work. I can firmly say that they've lost me as a customer. Word of advice to the owner... If you're going to open a restaurant in the United States, you may want to hire employees who can speak and understand English. Just a suggestion. read more

So excited to have a 24 hr burrito place near me! We tried out some tacos, a California steak burrito, chicken rolled tacos, chips with pico de gallo, and a taco salad. It was all delicious. I went to California Burrito at about 9 p.m. and ordered their carne asada California burrito. The burrito itself was very hefty in size and included steak, potatoes, Pico de Gallo, and cheese. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The burrito was super greasy, so much so that the grease soaked through the paper it was wrapped in and created a mess everywhere. After two bites, all I could mainly taste was potatoes and grease. The carne asada was flavorless with literally no taste and was super plain. I added their green salsa to see if it would make any difference; it did not. The salsa was alright, but flavorless too. I do not complain about customer service or the staff, as it was cool. The burrito just was not. well. Considering the name of the place is literally CALLED Burrito California, I would expect that this was supposed to be one of their best items. I ended up throwing it away, and the amount of grease actually left my stomach hurting afterward. Overall, good service, but the food really missed the mark for me. read more

Came here on a Tuesday night and to be honest...just go to el sabor by TCC. Literally ten minutes away same price same food options and 1000% better tasting food. I got a wet burrito that was so unappetizing that neither my boyfriend nor I could finish it, the rice, or the beans. All of it was so bland and dry I nearly chugged all my drink to wash it down. As for my boyfriend's taco salad it was drenched in salsa, hardly any protein, and the tortilla shell tasted like the staleness was cooked into it. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Incorrect order. Have allergy, told me what was on it but left out some things. I told them my allergy and ended up getting those items. Beans were cold. More tortilla than meat. Couldn't finish meal, it tasted so bad. When I told them I couldn't have certain items they did not offer to replace or did not understand me. I will not go back. read more
