Im really surprised by all the 5 star reviews. I really wanted to like this place because it always comes up when you look up tacos and "Taco District" gives such an official vibe, you want to trust them. However i can only give this place 2 stars for the food alone. PROS I ordered pick up via GrubHub and my order was ready at the exact time the app said it would be. Great! CONS Fries - dry and flavorless Birria Tacos - meat is whatever, not impressed and consommé was way too salty. Baja Cod tacos - I suggest jalapenos are a bit cooked and not served fresh as they are. Who eats jalapenos like that? Fish also tasted whatever - on the drier side and not much flavor. This taco needs some salsa or something to add flavor. Overall, paying $37 for this was NOT worth it. Ill go back to Taco Dive bar next time down the street. read more

i wanted to like this place a lot, esp since all of the positive reviews. ordered pickup today and when i went to pick it up an hour later, it wasnt ready. apparently the receipt paper was out so they never saw the order? this is 2025/2026, yeah? they first ask me to show them my receipt. i show it to them. then they ask to see my credit card statement. as if im trying to steal two tacos from them by photoshopping a fake receipt. i show it to them. then some guy comes out of the back and is like 'oh yeah, we're outta paper.' okay mistakes happen. time to practice my meditation techniques and be calm. i patiently wait and they do up my order. and the entire time im thinking... wow they havent apologized once for this mistake. food comes out 15 minutes later. he just hands it to me and i say an apology would have been nice from someone. its becoming apparent to me that when you are nice and quiet about something in this day and age, you get disrespected but had i started yelling and making a big fuss, im sure an apology would have happened. unfortunate. food was not bad. but not good enough to go back after my experience. again, it wasnt because they messed up my order. mistakes happen. it was because of a complete lack of respect after the mistake. read more

This is a quaint spot in the center of town with some really great tacos. My favorite is the cod tacos but the crispy shrimp ones are good too. The service is attentive and very friendly. A great spot when you want a light meal and a great drink. They have some good mixologists shaking up some really good concoctions! read more

This review is overdue from the summer. A few of us from an improv class came here before our show and grabbed a table on the rooftop. The vibe up there was great -- relaxed and fun. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share: guacamole, yucca fries, ceviche, and birria tacos. Everything was really good -- so flavorful and fresh. The food took a little while to come out, but it was worth the wait. Portions were generous -- five of us couldn't even finish everything. Honestly, I don't think I could pick a favorite because all the dishes were delicious. I'd definitely come back. I often see this place crowded at night and I see why. read more

The food was very tasty, the drinks were also strong and delicious. They had some cute instagramable picture photo ops. They have a rooftop bar area although it was raining and it is not covered. The service was attentive. I was not a huge fan of their bar menu as they could not make a few of the different drinks we wanted and they were out of some alcohol. The tacos were delicious, but you can't mix and match. My friend and I shared the salmon and the chicken tacos. We both liked the chicken better with its marinade. It was a little bit more expensive than I'm used to paying for tacos and guac, but we were in a downtown area. Parking was a pain and you have to pay for Street parking even blocks away. Stopped in here during their first week open! Welcome to Peekskill! I've been following the construction and planning of this restaurant on their Instagram page and was really anticipating their opening. They are owned by the same family who owns The Iron Vine (around the corner). The family is Guatemalan and the restaurant is being billed as Guatemalan fusion. The decor is beautiful - fun and modern, and features art by local artist Scott Garrette. Taco District is two floors and has a rooftop deck with a beautiful mural, which will be so fantastic when the weather gets warmer. We were surprised at how busy it was when we walked in, and we were fine sitting at the bar, so they took us up to the 2nd floor bar. Siena was our bartender and we ordered two drinks: - Oaxaca the Hudson (play on words of "A walk on the Hudson?" cute!), which was a mezacal-bourbon drink and quite tasty. - Cucumber Mezcalita (cucumber, lime, ginger syrup, passionfruit) - really refreshing and light For an appetizer we ordered the pork belly bites (I didnt realize they would be fried), which were served with a side of guacamole. A LOT of guacamole! The flavors were really really yummy, but the pork itself was a tad dry. For tacos, we ordered three (they come with two each). I ordered the shrimp, which was served with a delicious cream sauce. My husband ordered the birria (really delicious flavors, but again a tad dry) and the chorizo (which had street corn in the taco as well). The tortillas were delicious, maybe handmade? I like that they were corn tortillas instead of flour. Great flavor, more authentic, and good to know if you are someone who needs gluten-free options. The flavors of all the food were delicious; it took a little while for the food to come out, and the proteins were a tiny bit dry but it's also their 4th day of being open and I want to take that into account! Their tacos are good and the flavor is good. However, they need to add less meat in the dorados taco and the birria. It is way to much meat it becomes unappealing to eat. Atleast for me . I'm from California, so I'm very used to high-quality Mexican food. We ordered the carne asada tacos, and they were absolutely delicious. Much of the Mexican food in the Hudson Valley tends to be a little off-kilter. This was incredibly flavorful. Checked out the Taco District yesterday. It's right next door to Rubens Mexican restaurant ( which I already reviewed and like a lot ) This place is cool. Very beautiful, two floors of dinning with two beautiful bars and a rooftop patio. It's very new so that needs to be considered when doing a review. the staff was friendly. The food was very good. The Chicken and steak tacos were good..but the rock star was the "Smash" taco..but let's just call it what it is...it's a BIG MAC taco and it's absolutely delicious!! Was disappointed by the wine selection, but that said, it's clearly not a wine spot, as they focus on their signature cocktails and traditional tequila and rum spirts. And I completely get that. First, they couldn't find our reservation. Then, even after we asked about our food, the appetizers took an hour to arrive. I explicitly told our waitress that we had a show to attend. We waited without any updates. No bread or guac/chips to keep us from starving. Finally, our food arrived, but it was extremely salty, and I had to rush to eat in just 10 minutes. This is the sister restaurant to Iron Vine. Very similar -- just substitute tacos on hand made corn tortillas for tapas! The tacos are very uniquely filled, generously portioned and filling! Great food, great presentation, very fairly priced and amply served! The drinks are unique but unfortunately not strong! Not quite as busy as Iron Vine the few times I've been here (in my opinion) but still on the loud side. I've seen some of the same wait staff here as at their other place which would explain the long wait in which to get a check. Strange though, you can't get a coffee (after dinner drink) and dessert is 'extremely' limiting! Recommendation: Offer 'flour' AND corn tortillas. read more
