I decided to try Taco Express while in the area this weekend. They have a parking lot but it's very small and gets filled quickly. I was lucky enough to grab a spot. This is a place frequently visited by locals and it was very busy. I decided to dine in and there was a combination of people dining in and ordering take out. The staff mostly speaks Spanish but there are some English speaking staff persons. My birria tacos were delicious. The consome was lightly favored. The combination of the green and red sauce made the tacos even better. I wish they had fresh juices like other taco spots in the area. All in all would order / visit here again. read more

We visited Taco Espress in Perth Amboy and were very happy with the experience. We ordered birria tacos, the molcajete, chicken tacos, carnitas tacos and tamales -- everything arrived hot, well presented and with great flavor. The molcajete was the star of the meal; it came well-served to the table, with plenty to share and great seasoning. Service was quick and friendly, and the prices were fair for the quality. In summary, (fortunately) good food, (unfortunately) bad service. Eating outdoor, we ordered the Fajita de pollo, beef huaraches, burger (cemitas milanesa), mole tamale. The wait is longer than Disneyworld --- food arrived only about 1 hour later -- one of longest wait I've been at a Mexican restaurant. And this is on a weekend when crowd was minimal (only about 3-4 families in the restaurant). Food wise, the Fajita de pollo is well prepared and arrived with a flair. The huaraches tasted fresh and the cemita was crunchy and delish. The mole tamale is actually really good. During the whole visit, nobody came to provide us drink (we ended up using our own bottles from inside the car), and when the bill came out, the fajita was charged twice, which they corrected once I indicated the error, but.... The restaurant appears to be frequented by locals so, good for them. But unfortunately in our experience, the otherwise good food review was not supported by an equally good quality of service. read more

Happy Sunday Adventurers! I've been here a few times for take out and each time it's been very good. I recently got the chicken flautas and they were really delicious. Parking can be a hassle bc the street parking has so many signs---but that's Amboy. Tiny parking lot that is hard to maneuver bc people double park for fun. I usually park in the police parking lot up the road. Staff has always been nice and the place had an outdoor dinning area, def check this place out. read more

My service was horrible. Staff was rude as soon as we walked in with attitude and not welcoming to customers. Me and my boyfriend ordered two combos both $13 including rice entree and a drink. It was about $40 for two entrees. Not to mention they got my boyfriends order wrong 5 times and did not apologize once. Did not come once to check on us and was very confused on what we asked but it being in the menu I don't understand why. Once we where done she didn't give me a receipt and just was not nice. Will not be coming here again. I saw all over social media about this place and was excited but very disappointed in the end. Very good local Perth Amboy taqueria with a full menu and incredibly impressive looking pambazos. Semi-open kitchen, with a window view of the kitchen preparation and ample seating. There's a parking lot Taco Express is known among locals so it often draws a crowd. read more
