3 songs Later as the only one in line after ordering from the lady ( I agree with other reviewers and her service) I got my $7.5 Pork Tamales. I came at 11:30am and their menu ( no prices) mentioned breakfast til 12pm, but they did not sell me any. The picture showed two Tamales, but it came with 3 which was nice, they came unwrapped, which I am not sure if when you order from a plate with other places that this is standard or not. The Tamales are pretty good, great seasoning and the majority of it was soft, besides the ends which were dry. Rice and Beans were not hot, luke warm at best, and I personally would not get rice and beans here again. Salsa is SPICY! I wish they gave us a green salsa along with this meal too. There are a couple other places I would prefer going in this area before considering coming back here again. If you do, bring some water! read more

This is located in a parking lot no joke. It's just a little hut in the middle of a lot behind Texaco. There are no places for you to sit so its all to go! The menu is right when you pull up to order. Good luck with the translation. I just stuck with the usual beef fajita tacos with flour tortillas. They offer flour or corn tortills to choose. The tacos comes with cilantro and onion side of lime. Sauces are red or green, the green is spicier in my opinion but both are not spicy enough. Tacos are about $1.25 each so you could fill up on $5. Whew!! The customer service here is HORRIBLE! & I mean horrible. The lady at the window just glares at you while you order & just looks pissed off that she's at work. We used to come here more often but always felt that they were really rude so we waited awhile before going back. It was the SAME situation- just mean. I finally had a chance to check this place out and here's how it went: The setting was a rainy sunday and I was mildy hungover. Knowing I needed to find food fast or face the inevitable day long crapfest I decided to drive a few blocks down the street to this little taco stand. Upon my arrival I was very pleased to see that they have two drive thru windows. I pulled up and was greeted with a friendly "hola" to which I replied, "hello there". The small hispanic woman switched to english and asked what I'd like. I told her I had never been there and she suggested something short, simple and sweet. Two fajita chicken tacos. I was given the option of flour or corn tortillas and with my half drunken boozebrains I decided the flour was a good choice to absorb some of that left over alcohol. What a wise decision it was. I went home, opened the box and saw that she gave me three limes, as well as cilantro, onions and a half oz container of green sauce on the side. The tacos were STUFFED with chicken, I threw on the cilantro and onions then preceded to lube it up in the green sauce. within the next 30 minutes my hang over was gone and I was left feeling content but not too full. Too long; didn't read? The chicken fajita tacos here are delicious. They come with limes, cilantro, onions and green sauce. I think I paid roughly 3 bucks for this meal and would definitely go back. I saw this place, on the way to & from work, and decided to give them a try for tamales. We usually only have tamales at Xmas, so I was excited to get some for dinner. Sorry Taco Grande, the poor reviews are mostly true. The lady is very rude, despite my best Spanish and thanking her or saying have a nice day - I got nothing; she slammed the window shut. I could rate this place just on poor service; but they also screwed up my order. I speak perfect Spanish and perfect English, so impossible to get it wrong. You might thing the good was good.... the quesadilla was actually pretty good and it have it again (reason I gave them 2 stars). However, the burritos was horrible. Over salted meat, dry rice, old beans and no cheese or anything to give it life, or moisture. I'm going to say no to this place; unless you really just crave that quesadilla. But order ahead and pickup at window... oh, and check your order. I must begin by saying that I was such a fatty that I visited this delicious shack of flavor twice in one day. One my first trip ever to Taco Grande, I took the advice of a fellow yelper and order the Huarache with fries and a coke. The initial thought of having to wait about 5-7 minutes for my food was unbearable but with the friendly service, I received the wait didn't seem as long and well worth the wait ( food is made fresh from order). The Breakdown: The Huarache is an oval tortilla topped with refried beans, beef, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, avocado and parmasean cheese with a lime and small cup salsa that is amazing. Instead of using a fork, I pick the tortilla with my hands and took the biggest bite I could muster up. In short, I was done in probably 5 minutes, the meat was tender and flavorful and vegetables were fresh, Enough said :) On the second trip much later, I pretty much got the same thing and close the day with a satisfied, full belly. Not the place to come if you're in a hurry...but dayyum... if you've got the time to wait, it's worth it. I order the corn quesadillas with chicken everytime I come here & I've never been disappointed. They are massive. The homemade corn tortilla they start with has to be the size of a football! It's stuffed with chicken, cheese, lettuce, tomato & avocado. The tortilla is chewy & crispy. Add some of their salsa verde to it and, wow. Just WOW. If you're lucky enough to be there when they have elote (corn in a cup,) you have to get that, too. It's perfection. Couple of pointers...As you drive up to the FRONT of the stand, go to the drive-thru-window on your right. Place your order & pay there. Nachos were good portions. Chicken street tacos were just ok ... chicken was a little bland and dry. Ratio of onion vs tomato in the pico de gallo was like 5:1 ... really a lot of onion. However, props to the one lady who seemed to be the only person doing everything, and she was really sweet and gave us a free drink for the long wait time. Awesome good ol' Mexican food! Tacos are plentiful as they are tasty. The nachos were topped with pico, avocado, sour crema, grilled onions, queso, and Al pastor meat (requested). Super reasonably priced and filling. The green salsa has the perfect, get your nose going hot! So tempting to stop by all the time after we go to studio movie grill in Lewisville. Tried this place today for the first time. We ordered street tacos and a burrito- both fajita beef. Was prepared to be greeted by an individual with a bad attitude based on other reviews. The lady was very pleasant so the one star is for that. Now, there were no prices anywhere but I did take a look at the menu posted online. I was not expecting to pay $2.00 per taco! I love how out of place this taco stand is. It scream authentic. They serve more than just tacos, but that's all I've ever had. The ladies working here are nice and make everything to order. It can sometimes take a while to get your food especially if you're ordering for a large group of people. The tacos are pretty good here, but I honestly think that Taco Hut is a better choice and cheaper as well. If this place opened late at night like other taco stands I think they'd get a lot more business. There's very limited seating right outside the front (there's no indoor seating). I've never actually seen anyone eat here as everyone walks up to the window or goes through the drive-through. read more

This place is right by my apartment complex and I have driven by it nearly everyday for the last year. There are always people outside of it, but I was still a little skeptical about this little taco house in the middle of a strip mall parking lot. One night I mustered up the courage to try it. I got two corn al pastor tacos. I was pleasantly surprised! The pork was perfectly spiced. Lots of flavor and just a little bit of heat. The cilantro and onions were fresh and the salsa verde was amazing! Their salsa verde is my new favorite green sauce. Later I went back to try the bistek tacos, which were just as good as the al pastor. I can't wait to go back and try more, and at $1.40/taco I can do so without breaking the bank. read more

My internal taco sense always starts to get a little nervous when I start to drive North for tacos. Something about driving away from Mexico just gets me a little nervous. But hearing good things about this little taco stand, I proceeded to the Mexican food mecca that is Lewisville, TX. Overall this is a decent little taco stand. On the outside is is a beautiful sight for any lover of authentic tacos. The entire taco stand is no larger than the average garden shed and operated by a pair of women serving up fresh tacos through both a drive-thru and walk-up window. Everything is cheap and made to order. My tacos were a bit of a mixed bag. They are served with the usual mix of onion and cilantro, a few lime slices, paired with a container of both red and green salsa. (Please taco stands, don't give me less lime wedges than there are tacos, it breaks my heart.) Some were great some were not so hot. So, I'll break this down from best to worse. 1. Chorizo- 4 stars. This was a mighty fine taco. The meat was spicy and hot, a little greasy and nicely done overall. 2. Pastor- 4 stars. Had an interesting taste overall, with a little sweetness and tasted a little like it had a hint of pineapple. Pretty tasty. In retrospect, I would just order the chorizo and the pastor and it would have been a great meal overall. 3. Fajita- 3 stars. The meat had a good flavor but it was pretty dry and kinda ruined the taco. 4. Carnitas- 2 stars. This taco officially ended my attempts at carnitas tacos. It lacked any real spice and season and just reminded me of eating sweaty pig. No thanks. The salsa could have saved it a bit but I found them to be a bit watery and not the best I've had. I think that Taco Grande would be a great place to frequent if you are living in the neighborhood, but I doubt I will be making the trip up there again. I'd recommend the chorizo and pastor and maybe you'll get lucky with the fajita. read more

I followed the scent and noticed a tiny taco shack* up the street painted bright yellow, red, and green. And that's how I met Taco Grande. CARNE ASADA TACO: 4 stars. Perfectly seasoned, with just the right amount of cilantro and pico de gallo. PASTOR TACO: 4 stars. Nicely seasoned, with a touch of cinnamon. I like my pastor a little spicier, but still worth getting again. CARNITAS TACO: 4 stars. Tender pork, nothing complicated. HUARACHE: 4 stars. I wish I could've taken a picture of this beauty. A nicely fried, thick corn tortilla topped with meat, beans, lettuce, tomato, guacamole, sour cream, and parmesan cheese. I chose the spicy shredded brisket (desebrada), but I imagine it would've been just as good with any other meat. FINAL THOUGHTS: I still suck at golf, but at least I have something to look forward to next time I go to the driving range. *It really is a shack. There is NO indoor seating. Can't believe it's across the freeway from me for 1 year before I found it. I was driving by at 10:30 on a weeknight and both drive-thrus had a line 3 deep so I knew something was up. I'm still exploring the menu but the Nachos Especial is the bomb. Add steak fajita as the meat. The chips are cut fresh fried corn tortillas. They add pico, slices of fresh avocados, jalapenos, sour cream. The strange thing that works for me is that they use a high quality "ballpark" cheese sauce and it works great with the other fresh toppings. Here is the killer part, it will feed one big fat guy like me or two normal people. You will be set back a whopping $4.50. Order it with "everything" and pick through what you don't want. It looks like a little colorful shack in the middle of a plaza parking lot. There is little to no seating in front of it. I think most people just order to go. I kind of wished there was more seating. so that's why the 1 star off. The wait wasn't too long, but there was practically no one there when I got there. I got the taco plate which comes with 3 tacos and got lengua, brisket, and carnitas. I also go the horchata drink. The server was very friendly and funny. My friend was lame and got one chicken taco and water. I tried not to judge but I gave him shit for it. You can't get more endearingly local and authentic than this: the lady who took my order was chopping up raw meat in one hand and swiping my bank card with the other. I loved that personal touch, reminding me that this was humble, unpretentious fare. I ordered 4 pastor and 4 lengua tacos which came out to $12 and change. Not much in the way of outdoor seating at this taco stand which sits in the middle of an old parking lot anchored by a beer store, some hole-in-the-wall eateries and a salon. When the sun is beating down on the two small plastic tables in front of the window, best to take your meals to go. As others have pointed out, the pastor is uniquely flavored, tasting rather cinnamon sweet with a touch of heat. The lengua tacos were coarse-chopped chunky--great texture, but missing on flavor. Garnished with the standard cilantro and raw chopped onions, the tacos were also finished nicely with sauteed onions. The salsa rojo and verde were the only disappointments, lacking punch. I like authentic taco stands, and this one is pretty darn good. The chicken is flavorful without being too dry, and the portions are generous for the cost. It's a real, authentic place. meaning, family owned and operated and the locals all eat here. you can't really go wrong with whatever you order here. It's all very solid, good food. I don't care for the salsas very much, as I find them a bit watery and a little too one-note to add much to the experience. Plan on getting it to go! Stopped in for a couple veggie tostadas and they were really good. Everything tastes fresh and very homemade. The beans were very flavorful and the tostada was crispy and delicious. It was very large and a good price for what you get, I think it was $2. The place is very small but fun. There are 2 drive up windows and a walk up window. Since they make everything fresh the drive through can take a little while but the food is worth it. Seems like an authentic little Mexican restaurant. Checked this place out based on my fellow yelpers, tacos are not bad, I guess i was hoping for more grease..LOL, they were not very greasy, I wanted some MANTECA! Atleast dip the tortillas in grease would have been nice. But what I can say is, they do hit the spot if you are in a taco bind. I made an account just so I could rave about how amazing this place is. I ordered the Carnitas tacos on flour tortillas and I was absolutely amazed. The carnitas were cooked just right, and the flour tortillas were toasted ever so slightly to give them a little crisp so they held everything in place. The salsa verde was also amazing, very spicy, but not so much that it overpowered the taste of the tacos, instead adding to it. 10/10 would recommend read more
