I had high hopes for Jalisco, because they are right on Main Street in the heart of Old Town Lewisville and are obviously a family owned establishment. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with my first visit, which was to take a friend here for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. I ordered the Migas, which is hard to screw up. But I'm not even sure they used one whole egg--it was basically a pile of chunky fried corn tortilla strips with a side of rice and very runny refried beans. My friend had chicken and beef street tacos, which looked dry and unappealing. She only ate one of the three, which to me was a clear indication that they were not very good. (I was too embarrassed to ask her, since I was treating for lunch.) I would've been more forgiving in my review, except that the service was equally mediocre. There was only one server working, which should not have been an issue because there was only one other couple in the restaurant when we were there. But the server looked completely overwhelmed and only checked on us once in more than an hour after we got our food. It pains me to post a bad review of a family owned business and I hope they will take the opportunity to make a few easy improvements. . read more

We had an exchange student from Mexico and I work there three months out of every year. I have never before been served a chili rellano with a nasty fried egg on top. The outside is so pretty, if it didn't feel like hell outside it would've been perfect. Chips and salsa was good. I love that the salsa had a kick to it, but not overly spicy! Chips were chips, think and crispy. I ordered the green chicken enchiladas. Kind of tangy but overall good. Great amount of chicken inside and the sauce was good especially after adding the salsa. My friend had street tacos, she didnt go into detail but said they were yummy. Beans and rice were pretty yummy too. I don't like for my rice with to much tomato so this was perfect! We came here a few months ago with friends and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The restaurant itself was very clean and had great atmosphere, decor, ambiance, and lighting. The staff were friendly but our waitress didn't exactly speak English so there was some clunkiness when ordering - however this wasn't a real pressing matter. The tacos were ordered were wonderful - completely stuffed with meat and super tender/juicy. Pricing was reasonable given the popular location in Lewisville. Where do I start? Just getting the coffee situation under control is an effort. You have to ask for sweet n low, and it may or may not come before your coffee is too cold to drink. My son's breakfast taco had about one ounce of egg, jalapeño and tomato, it was actually laughable if they didn'tcharge $3.50 for it. I ordered a torta, which comes with rice and beans or fries. I said no beans, fries please. The sandwich was covered in beans. I sent it back, and all they did was wipe the beans off, throw it back on the grill, tossed half of my fries into the fryer and re-served it to me. We wanted to like this place. This is our 6th or 7th and FINAL time coming. The service is just ridiculously awful, and the food is not good enough to tolerate that. Heard about this restaurant and decided to give it a try. Small quaint cozy with a nice optional outdoor patio. I ordered the old standby, beef enchiladas. I wanted red and green chili but only got red. We got a small basket of tortilla chips and salsa. The salsa was watery but tasty. The enchiladas were ready quickly. Served with Spanish rice and refried beans. The enchiladas were shredded beef. Lightly seasoned with what tasted like parmigiana cheese. Different but good. The rice was good as were the bean's although I thought the beans were a little runny. The service was friendly and groom. The prices quite reasonable. Their posted "Hours of Operation" on the front window was "Open until 9pm" AND there were other guests inside. We arrived at 8:24pm on a Sat evening after walking several blocks and were hungry. We were met at the door by some very unmotivated employees who were more interested in cleaning up so they could leave only to be told they were closing and wouldn't serve us! What a fantastic way to run what appears to be a struggling business and apparently could afford to run away FIVE Hungry customers!!! I moved to Texas from AZ in 2012. I've been looking for a really good Mexican restaurant ever since. Listen, seasons ground beef smothered in queso is not authentic. Tacos should have 4 major components. Tortilla, meat, cilantro, and onions and hot sauce. Lettuce, sour cream, guac, and cheese are good but addd them yourself. These places are hard to find. One of them is Jalisco. The tacos were awesome. We had beef and carnitas. The beef ones satisfied my hunger. But the carnitas assaulted my taste buds and had me craving more. Slow roasted shredded pork in a taco. Exactly the way it's supposed to be. Mix in some of that fresh made horchata and you got a meal. Cannot wait to go back. read more

Carnitas enchiladas topped with tangy tomatillo sauce was excellent. Shrimp ceviche was fresh, citrusy and plentiful. Chile relleno filled with birria beef was fantastic! Queso fundito has chorizo and poblano peppers, and was ooey gooey yummy!!! Rice and beans had lots of flavor and we loved the homemade chips! This place popped up on my boyfriends driving app while on the way home so he picked up some tacos for dinner. Wouldn't call it a home run but would be willing to come back. He said he had a really hard time finding it as it isn't listed that's inside Terry's Grocery Store. He decided to go inside but even still it was alllll the way at the back. So im sure if you dont frequent this store you might miss it. The tacos themselves were pretty cheap and had decent flavor. He wanted beef tacos like street tacos but I think what we got was pork, it was a little dry. However he just pointed at a picture of what he wanted as there was a bit of a language barrier so he may have pointed to pork to begin with.
