Food was not authentic. The service was horrible, and very unprofessional. I trusted the reviews since there was not much to go off of with pictures. The menu in theory is great, but the execution was not. The ingredients and ambiance of this establishment was very American and white-people pleasing. Will not be coming here again. read more

Absolutely the best tacos and tostados I've had in the Pensacola area. I'm guessing these aren't the most authentic ones but they sure as hell are the best. Taco hard shells are deep fried corn as well as the tostado shells. This creates an exquisite crunchiness which in my opinion is very hard to find in most restaurants. Admittedly I haven't tried anything else because tacos and tostados are so good I can't get myself to explore the menu. Restaurant is very clean and service has been excellent. read more

Have been regulars for years. Now that they aren't open all week have had friends complain about spoiled food. We were in on Thursday the rice was definitely bad! We know these girls for years never got an apology, didn't take the plate away, didn't offer to fix something different and charged us full price. Hate that happened. Will never ever go back. Tried this place with a group of friends for 99 cent tacos on a Saturday afternoon recently. I don't eat meat, so had three of the refried bean tacos. My friends all had either the beef or chicken tacos. My food was simple, fresh and delicious. The crispy shells were warm and tasted freshly made. Beans were not smashed as normal nachos would have it. There was hardly any beef as the picture shows, that was the only beef it had. There some weird sauce on the bottom layer of nachos. Wilted lettuce, all I have to say is that whomever owns the restaurant or their cook is not of Mexican heritage or has NO clue what Mexican food is composed of. Another thing that young dirty blonde waitress should not be waitressing with that atrocious attitude of hers. I really hope the manager Minerva reads this so they can send their personnel to a customer service workshop and hire a cook that knows how to cook authentic Mexican food. I love this place. I've lived in the area for a few years and have been very disappointed with the "Mexican" food in the region. I haven't gotten too adventurous with the menu since I throughly enjoy what I have had - their tacos are great, especially their puff taco. When I tried it the first time I had to have it again for dinner two nights later This is not Tex-mex and it doesn't claim to be, but it's some of the best, and closest tacos in the area that I've come across since I've left Texas. Their wine margaritas are also surprisingly good, and not tart or too sweet. And the staff has always been beyond friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this place and wish I would have checked it out sooner. read more

If you like tamales made the home-style way - wrapped in polenta and covered in sauce - this is the place. Second on my list is their fresh salad, as I like chopped lettuce sprinkled with fresh tomatoes! Nothing fancy. I read the 1 star reviews with laughter. Really? The food is amazing and the place is charming. The 1 star reviewers take themselves too seriously. Michelle was our waitress and is the granddaughter of the owner and soon to take over. I had been craving tamales and with their chili, cheese gravy it was just what the doctor ordered. We had fajitas, tamales, enchiladas, puff taco, guacamole, chips and salsa, and Refried beans. Michelle brought out the homemade sauces that was a great addition to the meal. Came here on recommendation of hotel manager and actually brought the tacos back to her because I wouldn't eat them. Taco Bell is better. Ordered guacamole and argued with owner to take it back because was brown and tasted sour. Finally took it off bill but asked for sour cream and it was in tubes. I don't waste food so took it back to hotel and gave it to manager. Waste of time and money. read more

The food here is alright for the cost. Of course it's better than Taco Bell and for the money it's worth the while. Don't expect A+ service or a superb dinning experience but one can say this place is unique. It's been around for awhile and has made a name for itself. The prices are amazing and the food is delicious. Their homemade cheese dip is unlike anything I've ever had. It's vaguely reminiscent of Chili's skillet queso but better. If you've never had a tostada, try one, they are the best! read more

I don't understand how people can even come to this place, when its advertising is nothing for what it stands for. Let me start off by saying that I went to this place because it had a huge sign saying oysters. They didn't have any and to make it worse they didn't have the drink I wanted. No lemonade or root beer. But honestly judging by the disgusting food I put in my stomach I am glad they didn't have oysters or I possibly would have landed in the ER. This place makes Taco Bell taste like a 5 star restaurant. I am Mexican/British and I can assure you that this place is NOT real Mexican food. Please NEVER come here!!!! Sill Good!. Thought it was time to see how Taco House compares to my favorite place in town, Miguel's on Michigan. Food is very good, and almost identical. Their enchilada sauce has more heat and cumin, which was great. Not sure that I prefer them, but I will always welcome the opportunity to return. read more

May not be real authentic Mexican food but the atmosphere is great! Waitress was nice as can be and food was amazing! My boyfriend and I recently went to this place because we were craving Mexican food. Little did we know that what they serve is neither Mexican nor food. Also, the waitstaff neglected even to greet us as we walked in and were directed to a table. I ended up ordering the chicken chimichanga, but it turned out to be inedible. The whole thing was burned to a crisp, the sauce tasted bitter and smelled disgusting, and the chicken smelled funny also. I wasn't looking forward to a trip to the ER for food poisioning, so my boyfriend asked (politely) if I could have a different dish because the one I had was not satisfactory. The lady frowned and said rather rudely that it was supposed to be burned because it was fried and that she's been selling them all day and no one had complained but us. I found that odd because it was only one in the afternoon, and they hadn't been open that long. How many "chicken chimichangas" could she possibly have sold that day? And there I was thinking you could fry food without turning it into inedible ash! Apparently, she knew better than us because not only did she refuse to offer a replacement, but she refused to take the burned dish off our bill. Now I understand why the place is deserted every time I drive by. Do not go to this place. There are plenty of other places in town with better food and where you actually get treated like a customer whose business is appreciated.
