An excellent mangonada and a pineapple lime Agua Fresca, slurp. Order at the counter and they call your name to pick up. Litter box ( restroom) is through the soda machine. Taco kat was pretty good! The tacos are Sonoran style, which have some different toppings. I came for taco Tuesday and the prices were great! It was $2 tacos, but only for their basic tacos NOT the Sonoran ones. Margaritas are also $2 and they were quite strong! Packed a punch for sure. The tacos were good, but I don't think anything to rave about. Honestly I prefer black rooster over these tacos. Black rooster also hand makes their tortillas, Taco Kat I did see them come from a bag. Also one reason I would not run back to taco kat, was just the fact that it's so hard to get to! Since it's located downtown there is no parking close by, so you have to drive around and find something on the street and then walk a couple blocks. There is seating inside but it is very limited! It would be good for late night grub after the bars, but a little too many hoops to jump through to go on a casual evening. Taco Kat speakeasy has one of the coolest entrances for a speakeasy. We had heard about Taco Kat and when we were planning a quick weekend last week in Orlando, we made it a point to stop by. There isn't a way to make a reservation, so we planned to get there on the early end of the night. We were already downtown so we got over there at 930PM, a little after they opened. We should have grabbed a bite in the front first but we said we were going to the speak easy and before we knew it, we were walking through a soda machine. It was a pretty neat way to enter. The Speakeasy itself was it's own version of things. Dark lighting, loud club music and basic drinks. But it's still a nice addition to the downtown Orlando scene. They have a whole wall that's jarjitos, a great Mexican soda, that's for décor. We weren't there for long, but it was a nice spot to stop in for a drink. read more

I can't believe I never reviewed this place. It's a total guilty pleasure for lunch or the late night snack you shouldn't have. I always opt for the chicken tacos. This is a unique spot in Downtown Orlando that my husband and I visit for their delicious Senora tacos and margaritas. It's a great spot for delicious food, and if you're around late night, their "hidden bar" is fun. Taco Kat restaurant is bright and inviting, whereas the atmosphere of the hidden bar is eclectic (the Jarritos wall is pretty cool!) and dark. Cute inside and like their fresh looking style. The food was okay. I tried the short rib quesadilla and a side of chips and salsa. The short rib and cheese quesadilla did hit the spot as I was starved to eat lunch after skipping breakfast. The quesadilla, it was smaller than most quesadillas I would get from local places, but it was very filling so that's cool. Also ordered chips and salsa. Not sure, I think the chips are flour tortillas cut and deep fried, but didn't look or taste like corn chips to me. They were a lot more heavy, but I definitely prefer crispy corn chips with salsa. Maybe these chips are good for those out partying to soak up few drinks? My quesadilla came with a small red salsa and a small green salsa verde. I ordered extra salsa verde but I ended up not needing it since some came with my meal. Take note so you don't order extra sauce for $1 like me. If out having fun downtown I would check it out for a between party scene meal. Interesting that there is a bar area connected, plus a secret bar door inside. Overall I like what the vibe is in here, liked the quesadilla okay, but would pass on the chips next time. Really liked their red salsa flavor and it's little zing of spice. Went here for lunch on a Tuesday. They do $2 tacos and $2 margs on Tuesday. The taco was delicious, options were limited. Senora is not something I was familiar with but it was delicious. Small but mighty taco shop in downtown Orlando. The service was so friendly and food came out quickly. The food was way better than I was expecting from this unassuming spot with maybe 6 4-top tables? We were advised that the carne asada and chicken were the most popular proteins for tacos--while I was hesitant to waste a taco on chicken (usually not impressive) I REALLY enjoyed both the chicken and the carne asada. The carne asada was SO juicy and they did not skimp on protein. The flour tortillas were cooked perfectly and were hearty enough to handle all the ingredients. My husband and I split the nachos as well and added ground beef and we were both really impressed with the seasoning on the beef as well as the queso on the nachos. There are people that don't like tiktok but that's because they don't know how to use it. Tiktok led to me TakoKat and now, even though I want to gate keep, I'm sharing it with you because it's too good not to. It is exactly what you want out of a Mexican spot. The food is delicious. And affordable. The margaritas are FIVE DOLLARS. Everyday. Oooh but they're small you might say. I was feeling pretty darn swell after two and I'm a big butch. They also have a "hidden" bar behind the soda machine (it was propped open when we were there) since the bathrooms were back there. The atmosphere of this place is dope and I'd definitely come back since it's a speakeasy at night, but the food here is pretty average. The size of the tacos were way too small for the price. I don't think the price is out of line considering it IS DOWNTOWN and it filled me up. 2 for a light lunch had tacos a quesadilla and a drink for about $20. They have kiosks to Oder for yourself but staff was there to greet me as soon as I walked in so I ordered in person. Was really excited to try this place, the pictures reminded me of Los Tacos No. 1 in NY and I was hoping the food would be just as good... however that was not the case. First off, it's downtown where there is absolutely no parking. So good luck with that. Second, the prices are insane--we ordered a taco, a taquito, chips and queso, esquites and a drink, and paid close to $30. This is not enough food to feed two grown adults (we ended up going to another restaurant after). And then unfortunately the food wasn't that good... the chips and queso was the best part and even that was sketchy--some of the chips were chewy/stale. I'm all for some delicious inauthentic "tex-mex" style tacos, but unfortunately Taco Kat didn't quite make the cut. We sampled several of the tacos, from the Sonora, Básico to the Cheesy -- if I'm honest they all tasted essentially the same aside from one of the styles having some extra cheese. As far as taste the tacos were JUST okay. The protein had no standout flavor, if anything it felt under seasoned. And the tortillas were a weird corn/flour hybrid I've never tried . The Margaritas were also just ok. For a late busy weekend night the service was pretty good, they really kept it moving even though the place was packed with people. All in all, I will probably skip this taco kat next time I'm back in town. read more

Came in last night after hanging out at the Cool Kats Club. So happy this spot opened. I'm originally from Miami and this is exactly what you'd find in Wynwood (party district). I have been waiting for something like this! The staff in both areas were very friendly, the club was a lot of fun, DJ played some amazing beats and the food at Taco Kat was delish! I was too hungry to take pics but I had the carnitas tacos, pork quesadilla and the chips with queso. I Loved the authentic flavors especially that salsa! The quesadilla was cheesy and perfectly fried on the outside. The food took a while but worth the wait for fresh tortillas and chips! Be patient!
