Just tried this restaurant for the first time today. Who does average. We had a few different things, some Lengua tacos, couple fish tacos, some taquitos and some beans. Ordered a bean and cheese burrito as well, assuming that will be pretty good. The beans were tasty, not salty and certainly not full of fat. I'm sure it is but it taste good and well balanced. Tacos were average at best. The fish was fried nicely with good toppings. The Lengua was tender, but overall the tortillas were mushy and had little to no flavor. The sauces were weak and didn't have a lot of punch to them. The staff were friendly and the outside patio was clean. read more

Late night and my daughter, daughter's friend and I are hungry. My daughter said she's going out to grab a bite and she text me the location where she's buying food. I looked at their food on Yelp and I text my daughter my order. She brings home the food and it looks nothing like the picture . I'm a big boy so I ordered a burrito and 4 street size tacos. I tried my tacos and I simply couldn't eat them. I took 3 bites out of my burrito and that was it. Honestly it's not that hard to season some meat, slap it on a grill put it in a tortilla and dress it up with onions and cilantro. My burrito was mushy so I just threw everything away. I'm honestly not a picky eater. Maybe just maybe the cook was on a off day it happens. But all of our food went into the waste basket and we all went to bed hungry. Anyhow I honestly don't think that I'd go back there again. It's also a damn shame cause I'm a taco lover and it's so conveniently located close to my house. Can I say clutch. Near the college (APU) this place is open 24/7. The serve menudo every day!!! Enough said. Let me tell you what I got a 5 am. Chorizo burrito, mouf smackin, had to eat it in the car before I drove home cuz of all the flavor in it. It had beans in it instead of rice and im a rice guy, ask anyone. Let me tell you sir Stax my dog got none of this burrito. The scene was late or early depending how you finish or start your day but the fact that you can get such flavors In a happening area blew my mind. The employees I spoke with with very nice and paid close attention to detail. I recommend you spend one or two taco Tuesdays here. They also have a taco Thursday night. While I will say I was beyond surprised how flavorful my taco was, the place needs to be revamped. A deep clean and remodel to bring it to where it needs to be. It just has a lot going on and falling a part. The staff was nice, per say......lol.....well, they weren't mean, just quiet. The good: on Tuesdays, they serve $1 fish tacos, and on Wednesdays, they serve $1 tacos of your choice of meat. Although the price can't be beat, there is room for improvement in other categories. The lady taking my order was not the most courteous. She mumbled her words at a low volume and seemed annoyed at me when I couldn't understand what she was saying. She was also being very difficult when my friend asked if there was a surcharge for credit/debit cards. They also did not call out my order when it was ready for pickup. They just left it on the countertop without saying a word. The tacos were also really small. Smaller than the standard size. Usually, two tacos will do the trick, but two at Taco King will not cut it. Taco King is a hole in the wall taco joint, located across from APU, west campus. My husband wanted to try a new place for taco Tuesday and thought it would be good to drive down Foothill Blvd and see what place we can try. Prior to coming here, I had already known that this place had an overall rating of 3 stars (and still currently does, as of now) and figured this place would just be okay. This taco eatery has a drive thru and so we decided to order from there since we had our little girl dog in the car with us. We ended up ordering: 8 Fish Tacos, $8.76 after tax- Because we ordered these yesterday (Taco Tuesday), they were a special price of $1 (prior to tax) and am not sure how much they would have cost on a non special price day ($1 fish tacos on Tuesdays and $1 meat tacos on Wednesdays). These tacos were definitely pretty heavy handed with the white sauce, as you can see from my photo. I am not sure what was in that sauce, but it kind of tasted like mayonnaise/ sour cream based. I thought the sauce over powered the taco and couldn't really taste the fish. For one taco, the fish itself was rather bland and kind of seemed like it had been sitting out and not made fresh. Although I thought the fish was okay and needed some salt, I just thought I would mention that. For another taco, the fish was seasoned fine and of course another taco, the fish was overly salty. Wish it was a bit more consistent. Wait time for 8 tacos wasn't too long, but did have to wait there for probably 5-10 minutes. You may be better off going inside instead of using the drive through. Please note that there is a $0.65 charge with any credit or debit transactions. So consider bringing cash if you wish to dine here and check out the $1 (prior to tax) taco deals. The fish tacos were pretty average and have definitely had better elsewhere (like Taco Ensenada and Las Palmas Mexican Food, both found in Duarte). I don't see ourselves coming back. Please note that this place does have plenty of parking in its own lot and also there is outdoor seating if you are interested in dining with your little pup. read more

I drive past this place on a daily basis and I never thought to stop by until this past Monday when I noticed a Monday Special - Shrimp Cocktail for $6.99 sign posted on the sidewalk. I drove in and was so ecstatic to see that they also have a drive-thru so I ordered from there. The menu selection is pretty wide so you have lots to choose from! I was there specifically for the shrimp cocktail and I ended up getting a carne asada quesadilla and my sister wanted birria tacos. My shrimp cocktail was what I expected it to be. Delicious! The quesadilla however was made with cheddar cheese and the meat was chewy. I ate half the quesadilla and 30 minutes later I had a very bad stomach ache and it lasted overnight! My sister's birria tacos tasted horrendous. The meat did not seem fresh and tasted so grimey. She complained to me that it was the most disgusting tacos she'd ever had so I tried it too and kid you not! DO NOT GET THE FOOD HERE! I gotta say, I'm a bit of a night owl, so when the mood strikes, I go with it. I've been working remotely since March, and I often work late into the night that I eschew dinner for myself when I make dinner for my kids. Often the hubby and I will venture out to Glendora/Azusa just for the late night eating hubs. We've been to a lot of the local taco joints in the area, but somehow we always seem to miss out on Taco King. Well this time around we decided we wanted our late night eats from there. They're open 24/hours a day 7 days a week. They've got a full menu of parrilladas to tacos, and then burgers. We opted for the familiar: menudo, fish tacos, and lengua and carne asada tacos. Holy moly were they good! Their sauce is full of flavor. The fish tacos were crispy, and together with their mayo sauce of comfort foodiness, it was perfect. I recommend these! * they also offer these for a discount on Tuesdays, so hit them up! The lengua tacos and carne asada tacos were very flavorful. We ordered three of each and were delighted by the zingy flavors in the asada and the sauciness of the lengua tacos. The meat was tender and cooked just right. They even give you bags of their freshly made chips, which I loved to eat alongside the tacos. My advice: order ahead of time if you're ordering for a small army *like I often do with my teens, and they'll have your order ready fast! Currently they have take out, drive through, and for now, outdoor seating or until the county does its thing again. But do go and try out Taco King. They're a local treasure and the folks there are also pretty cool. Don't believe all the low-raters, sometimes you have to be patient and do you due diligence and just check your order anyway so you don't have to be mean to the folks.
