Next favorite is the torta, served on a nice and soft bolillo roll, then a tie between the gordita and tacos. The service was pretty efficient, and it wasn't long before the food came out hot. The plantains were fantastic. There was so much that I couldn't finish them myself, but they tasted pretty amazing. I recently discovered how fantastic plantains were, and Taqueria Jaguar's fried plantains were top notch. I highly recommend them. When it came to the birria, however, I was left disappointed. I fear maybe it was the experimental nature of my order instead of going for some al pastor tacos, but I felt the meat was not great. It was cooked well, but it had no flavor. I could best compare it to when my grandma made me chili and told me it was amazing, when I had to put so much cheese on it to hide its lack of flavor. I don't know if it was from the goat meat versus your typical beef you'd get elsewhere on the menu, but I was shockingly disappointed in how weak they were. I didn't finish them, sadly. It was a corn flavor unlike the normal one. We also got the birria tacos and consume. It was the not flavorful and the consume was pale and watery (I know it's not supposed to be thick). Maybe it was an off day. Their chips were fried fresh (flour I think) and they gave us a lot of little salsa containers. We couldn't dip them (you had to pour).
