This is the best Mexican restaurant in town...and out of 10+ local mexican restaurants that is saying something. The carnitas taco salad is the best thing on the menu (I like them extra crispy). The green salsa at the salsa bar is amazing. In the last year they bought really nice quality chairs and tables with "taco loco" carved into them...very nice. When this place first opened, it used to taste spectacular and was, by far, the best Mexican food Ukiah had to offer. Now? Not so much. The place has gone downhill; there is nothing about this place that makes me want to eat there. They have a good salsa bar with a variety of salsas, but if you ask for more chips the waitresses give you a death stare and seemed overall annoyed. Also, their prices have gone way up. I get that businesses are feeling the pressure of the economy, and minimum wage just went up in California, but their prices are way too expensive now. My favorite item used to be the chimichanga with a side of rice and beans. It used to be $9.75, but now it's $14 which is ridiculous... When I went there, I was shocked by the prices. The food doesn't taste as good as it used to, either; it looks and tastes rushed. The main owner, Gaby (I think that's her name) is so unfriendly, unpleasant and just rude. She was my waitress about 2 months ago, and literally just dropped my food on the table with a clunk. No smile on her face or recognition of being happy. The staff, in general, are not friendly nor pleasant. There have been times (recently) where I'm waiting in line, ready to order, and it takes 3-5 minutes to get one of the staff members to take my order... Also, the place is extremely dusty and dirty; near the soda machine, there is a thick layer of dust on top of it as well as the counter behind it. In general, the rude staff, steep prices, and decline in food quality has never made me want to come back, which is unfortunate because this place used to be great. There are similar tasting Mexican restaurants in Ukiah they are just as cheap and just as friendly. read more

Why do we go to restaurants? For the food obviously and good food needs to be complimented by good service, that's not the case here, there is a lady that helps at the cashier that it will be better if she stays home, I'm sure that she's the owner but it will be better if she stays home to take care of the chickens in the back yard, she just can't be there with a mad face attending customers, on the other side food was good, so if you want to go see mad faces with good food this is your place. read more

Was passing through the area and asked someone at a gas station where I could get a good burrito; she recommended Taco Loco. Ordered a Burrito Loco with lengua and shrimp and daaamn it was hella good. Always ask them to repeat your order! They don't respond well to being told they made mistakes. Food allergies and preferences matter. I always specify no sour cream. Tonight's orders had sour cream and after requesting the order be redone, the staff argued and didn't just remake the wrong items, they re did the entire order and charged full price. We have been to Taco Loco for dinner twice, once in August 2010, once last night. Both times the service was very friendly and the food was serviceable (I find it extremely bland, but the salsa bar is pleasant, the corn chips are fresh, and the portions are generous). I had a super burrito the first time and a chicken sope + chicken tamal the second time. The flan was gross -- cheesy texture, tasted stale. The thing that motivates me to write a review of what is essentially an adequate-to-mediocre restaurant is that both my husband and I had mild stomach upset after eating there this time. It's not impossible that it was something else, but it's a bit unlikely -- the high probability is that something at Taco Loco made us both a little ill, not seriously so, just queasy. Anti-recommended for that reason. read more

I do not know if they changed owner's because you cannot use plastic cards, but the food is always delicious, fresh and hot (to go ). If i could eat here everyday i would. My only complaint- fix the door because it sticks if you push it forward! read more

Quick stop here was the best decision. Authentic Mexican food. Horchata and jimaca drinks were to die for. My husband had the burrito mojado and I had the carne asade plate. Both were nice size. Probably too big and both were very tasty. Carne asada paired with onions and peppers so delicious. I would recommend this spot to anyone in the ukiah area. read more

This just great Mexican food. The price is right, portions make you let your belt out, and the service is the best around. Want to have a great time watching a prize fight, this is the place. But get there early, it gets crowed with fight fans. The cost to see the fight, nothing, as long as you order something to eat, and the beer is always cold. Friends and family all agree, want Mexican, Taco Loco, on Orchard Ave. in Ukiah, you won't find better north of the border. read more

Agreed, the salsa bar is very good, especially the pico de gallo. We recently learned the female chef, who is always there, is the owner. You can tell she takes pride in her restaurant. The ingredients taste fresh and everything is made to order. They just switched tortilla companies and you can tell, the best tasting chips, now. Admittedly, our diet is very restrictive so we get the same thing, which they accommodate every time. We are constantly treated with kindness. Regular customers for a year now. read more

This place USED to be good; that was Then...unfortunately, this is Now... First, they implemented an insanely stupid policy of requiring *CASH ONLY* for all orders over $10. In this day of Credit/Debit cards, this is nuts. Next, when I did go there early one morning intending to spend cash, I stood outside the locked door, reading the sign posted on it saying they opened at 9:30AM, until I finally left at 9:50AM with the door still chained shut. There *were* people inside: I could see people in the kitchen in back, and knocking on the glass door brought a small child, perhaps five years old, to come to the other side and stare at me. No amount of coaxing, in both Spanish and English, could get him to go back and tell his mamacita that there were customers waiting and they were late opening up. Avoid this place, as they apparently no longer want people's business. read more

I have be been going here for years, but not anymore. I recently got a 1"x2" chunk of completey raw chicken in my burrito. Made me sick for at least a day. What shocks me the most is how this massive piece of chicken made it by any of the cooks. They have lost my business forever. read more
