The fajitas are top notch and the seasonings are up to par with typical Northern Mexican cuisine. The salsa/condiment bar has fresh vegetables and the salsa variety never disapoints. I placed a pick-up order on 6-18-19 and received an email saying the order was placed. I received a text message saying when the order was going to be ready. My credit card was charged. I arrived to Taco Palenque and they had no record of the order and had no idea how to even find it. Then they claimed that they didn't have a password to get the order. The young man behind the counter did a great job helping me get my order given the severe limitations they have with this app. The order was completed relatively quickly. The food was okay. The cilantro was expired. The quesadilla was just a whole bunch of cheese with little chicken and a whole lot of no flavor. I contacted Yelp and inquired about the breakdown with this order. They were no help but happily cancelled the order. I paid the restaurant directly so they would get paid for helping me fulfill the order. I'm just sorry i didn't get the name of the young man who helped me so I could give him credit. That was probably the only good experience. read more

I have gone many times and consistently like the food. I will say sometimes presentation is better on certain days but taste is always good. I either get carne asada street tacos or a chicken quesadilla. I usually always ordered refried beans and chips to dip on the side. I love their Pico and their mild salsa. I still remember when one of the first Taco P opened on 10th street in McAllen a few years back. The flavor is exactly the same after all these years and that's a good thing. I've been ordering nothing but a pair of Tacos Reynosa in my recent visits, I prefer corn tortilla rather than flour. They're prepared with grilled onions and cilantro, a taco's best friends. The tenderness of the fajita is spot on, and the grill flavor is just phenomenal. They're very generous with the meat, one taco is good for most people, not for me though. The tortilla was soft and firm at the same time, just enough so it won't break. It had a good flavor to it, just a nice very mild corn taste not too overpowering. Their salsa offerings are great, some very spicy for people like me and some very mild as well, the "Pico de Gallo" is my favorite. The red sauce is the most spicy, go easy on that one. I like that they have a small chips and salsa bar, you can help yourself with as much as you want. The only thing I don't like is the price, four tacos for $17 is just way too expensive. If not for the price I'd be here more often. They have a great menu and do recommend people to stop by. read more

We are visiting from out of town and I headed out from the hotel in search of good coffee and breakfast tacos. The lady at the coffee shop recommended this place. I ordered two potato & chorizo and two bean & chorizo tacos. I will say the tortillas & beans were very good, but this picture is a representation of the chorizo in the tacos. Seriously? I went through drive thru this morning to order breakfast, and to my surprise they have a new cashier who doesn't speak any English. l don't speak Spanish well at all. It's safe to say that I will no longer go here. I can't order food! The service here was terrible. I came in for breakfast and ordered the taco specials. I've yet to check out any of Taco Palenque's Houston locations, but glad I was a able to try them, in McAllen of all places. The fact that I could get fideo (a chicken broth and tomato-based Mexican noodle soup) from a drive-thru window nearly blew my mind. You can also get menudo for the road as well. Their salsas were exceptionally good - especially the salsa verde. Never EVER will I go to another Taco Cabana (blech) or Taco Bell again. This is in an old fast food restaurant and has a drive through. It's counter service so not a nice sit down restaurant. The food was excellent and prices were pretty good. I had a steak burrito that was huge. Others in our party had chicken tacos, chicken fajita burrito, el pastor burrito, steak quesadilla and a beef taco combo. Fantastic food, I had to walk from my hotel about 1-1/2 miles to get to the store and it was well worth it. The staff was excellent and very friendly. I ordered some tacos to go and they started to help me take them to my car but when I told them I was walking. Carlos came to me and said I will give you a ride in his personal car to my hotel.
