My dad is a regular here and I absolutely love it all! My dad is always talking how great this place is, the tacos are delicious and reasonably priced and tells me the gossip between the ladies at the shop, I am here for it! They ladies were so kind, asking about my dad's health and how my mom was doing (since they have not stopped by) and even introduced me to them! It was nice to walk into a place where the staff is courteous and genuine. I ordered one fajita taco and one chicharron and boy was I happy with my order and my portions, their tacos are huge! I probably eat here 2-3 times a week for breakfast & lunch. Great service, good menu selection and good prices. Convenient location with parking. I usually get the sausage & egg and bacon & egg w/ white cheese breakfast taco on corn tortillas. Lunch is small birria quesadilla, discada taco, or chicken taco. Went around 10:00am. Ordered barbacoa tacos with corn tortillas and the meat was so tender and moist it melted in my mouth it was so good. The homemade corn tortillas were my favorite part also. So fresh and soft. Accompanied by the hot salsas that are available self service next to the counter. The area looked cleaned. First off I want to say all these other reviews are way outdated. They had a ton of options and staff was very friendly. I might also say this place was pretty busy and had a line when I walked in at 10am. I had the egg and bacon breakfast taco and the spicy fajita. Both well seasoned and I came here on the recommendation from a friend for their flour tortillas. It did not disappoint. Goes to show you can't always fully trust Yelp. Ah mazing!! Tacos!! We try to come during lunch as is not too far from our office. The food is always delicious and fresh! Service moves a little slow as there is usually a line and so many options so the customers tend to add a lot to their orders. Really it's closer to 2.5 stars, but I not quite 3. I was excited to see this place open up. I've dropped in a few times now & have to say while the service was quick & nice, the food wasn't that great. And no I wasn't expecting a life altering culinary experience There's a good bit of seating inside, including bar height counters & stools along the wall. Because it's new, it's very clean & I noticed they kept the serving area clean as well. On my 1st try, I figured they're new & need to work out some kinks. They gave me the wrong order. Went back in, the young lady working the counter quickly remade my order w/o an attitude. I've tried a bit of the menu now - chorizo & eggs, menudo, barbacoa, asado, potato, and others. The better tasting items so far were the breakfast tacos. The flour tortillas are freshly made & taste pretty good. The menudo & barbacoa were my least fave items. Very bland. Was hoping the salsa would help my taco tries, but neither of the 3 worked. No I don't need scorching hot salsa, but again not flavorful & not even a slight tingle. Hey guys, throw in all that cumin, chile, garlic, etc. like you're at home cooking for your fam! The pico de gallo, cilantro, limes & onions are kept behind the serving area & you need to ask for them. It's been a while since I've been to a taqueria, a truck or wherever & had to ask for onions & cilantro. May want to rethink that. Even Taco Cabana lets you have it. One of the best taco joints in the city (not THE BEST, as many of the fillings could use some tweaking). Corn tortillas are freshly made in the back by a crew of ladies - they're essentially fluffy, hot clouds of goodness. Reminds me of some of the best taquerias in San Antonio. Most of the fillings are so-so...but two are great. My go-to's are: 1. Barbacoa - they keep it real and use beef cheeks (if you're lucky, they'll bring out a new tray of the stuff when you get to the front of the line!) 2. Eggs - their breakfast tacos are outstanding People vote with their wallets and there's usually a motley crew of folks (office, construction, industrial worker-types) waiting in the line that stretches to the door during lunchtime. Service is friendly and quick; the restaurant is bright and clean. The ladies at the counter are always hospitable and amused at my attempts to speak Spanish. Who would have guessed that some of the best tacos in Houston can be found at a Shell gas station shopping center? If they improve the recipes for their fajita, chicken, etc., Taco Real would be a contender for THE BEST taqueria in the city...but yup, the corn tortillas are THAT good. 3 tacos (with cheese) and a bottle of coke cost me $12.30 today. Stopped here for lunch and got the chille relleno with rice and beans. Loved the rice and beans however i asked for the chili relleno with only cheese but the cheese inside was cold. I've always had a chili relleno where the cheese was melted. The chili was really good and the right amount of breading on it but again didn't expect the inside to be cold. They have several locations. This one has the best quality in my opinion. I assume because it is in a nicer area that the other. The are similar to taco place in Stripes (i forget the name right now). But so much more flavor. Their salsa is out of this world. They have a container by the fountain drinks with several options. The people serving the food don't wear gloves. Tried to stay positive and assumed there hands are clean. The flour tortillas were cold and very thin. My taco was falling apart.
